Take a FUN Improv Class (in-person) - then After Party!
Fri, Sep 11, 2:00 AMWelcome to the fun!!! Here are all the details: Step 1.) You must register and pay $25 on Eventbrite ([https://thursdayimprovclass.eventbrite.com](https://thursdayimprovclass.eventbrite.com)) to secure your place in the class (not just on this Meetup). Online registration ends at 7:00 PM every Thursday for that week. $25 online registration for the class is located here: [https://thursdayimprovclass.eventbrite.com](https://thursdayimprovclass.eventbrite.com) Step 2.) Everyone meets in front of the building entrance at 450 Geary St, checks-in, and then goes upstairs to the classroom. Following the class there's often an after party at a nearby place. It's a great time, hope to see you there! This Meetup is for people who currently improvise or are interested in trying out improv. We get together and attend Leela's weekly Thursday night drop-in improv class (see below). "Come play, bring a friend, and meet new people in Leela's weekly drop-in improv class. This fun-filled improv class is a valuable opportunity for experienced actors/improvisors to sharpen their skills, and newbies to get introduced to the wonderful world of improvisation. Connect, play, grow..." Visit http://www.leela-sf.com for more information about Leela.
Saturday afternoon get-together
Sat, Sep 5, 10:00 PMHey everyone! Thinking of getting together on Saturday, September 5th — maybe a picnic/hangout in the afternoon around 3pm. Drop a comment if you’d come and I’ll pin down the spot once I know roughly how many of us there are. Open to suggestions on where too!

Woodworking Workshop
Tue, Sep 1, 1:00 AM-please read the whole updated description!- Come to work on your own projects and get some feedback from your fellow woodchucks. We have a planer, drill presses, hand tools, a table saw, and much more! ###################### **starting June 8 we will be taking a break from the intensive power tool trainings provided in previous sessions.** For the next few weeks we want to use wood night as a time for actively working on projects and designing ideas for your projects. Happy to help with some guided use of the tools, but for now no full training will be offered. If you are new to the woodshop you are still welcome to join, just know that we will not provide a full training on the tools. If you have significant experience using a Tablesaw, mitre saw, planer etc then this should not be an issue. We do have some scrap wood available, but bringing some wood for your project, especially if it is larger or more crafty, is highly encouraged. We recommend getting your wood at Lowe’s (cheaper) Discount builders supply (closer to NB) or Beronio (higher quality and carry lots of hardwoods). Please feel free to ask questions on the discord if you are unsure about what to get for your project.

Startup Pitch & Themed Networking San Francisco | Unlock Your Idea
Thu, Sep 10, 2:00 AMJoin founders, investors and tech talent at this curated **startup networking event in San Francisco.** Meet ambitious builders, exchange ideas and discover new opportunities in a dynamic community environment. **RSVP: [Use this link](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/startup-pitch-themed-networking-san-francisco-unlock-your-idea-tickets-1995829836768?aff=oddtdtcreator)** **Please note that RSVP is managed via Eventbrite to control attendee lists — don’t ignore it to avoid issues with on-site payment.** Most of us are in the same loop. You have an idea. You workshop it with ChatGPT, read another newsletter, tell three friends who don't quite get it. The idea stays in your head. Or worse — it never gets the kind of pushback that would have made it sharper. Research on creative work is clear: people who articulate their idea to like-minded peers begin to understand it deeper. Quality feedback isn't validation — it's the thing that changes how you see your own work. We mix the room on purpose. Different industries see the same process from different angles — that's where value compounds. We ask for your LinkedIn in registration so we can group you with the right people, not random tables. **How the evening runs (3 stages)** **Stage 1 — Themed Networking** You vote on the night's themes through the registration form (Fundraising, HR, GTM, Product, Pricing, Hiring — whichever wins the room). We group you by background. Each group's representative shares the conversation's main takeaway on stage. Featured contributors get a Featured Founder spotlight on ascentvalley.com — that's how the conversation scales across the ecosystem. **Stage 2 — Pitches** 5 curated startups present their idea for live feedback and investor introductions. After the event, we add them to our private founder database and route their application to the right investors inside the Ascent Valley network. **Stage 3 — Chill & Network** The structured part wraps. The bar stays open. The connections you started solidify here — most of our repeat attendees say this is where the real value lands. **Who's in the room** * Accelerator representatives — talent and dealflow scouts from San Francisco-based and EU-wide programs * Investors — angels, fund representatives, scouts from syndicates * Founders, Pre-seed to Series A — building across SaaS, AI, ClimateTech, FinTech, ConsumerTech * Operators — PMs, engineering leads, GTM leaders from scaling startups * Entrepreneurs across industries — fresh perspective is the point * Founders traveling through San Francisco — from Tel Aviv, Berlin, London, NYC, Lisbon nodes * Hiring leads from companies actively scaling teams **About Ascent Valley** Ascent Valley is a 3-layer ecosystem: Community, DealFlow, Events. Our mission is to break local boundaries and enable cross-region growth through real connection between founders, operators, and investors. **Philosophy: [IDEA → PROCESS → RESULT.](https://ascentvalley.com "https://ascentvalley.com")**
