Join us for a hands-on day of compassion, learning, and real impact in the heart of SF. San Francisco’s pigeons often suffer from painful injuries caused by string, hair, and other debris tightly wrapped around their toes. These tiny hazards can lead to serious infections and even amputations. Together, we’ll gently rescue injured pigeons, remove the harmful materials, provide basic first aid, and release them safely back to their flocks. While we’re out on the streets, we’ll also be sharing food and toys for companion animals belonging to our unhoused neighbors—because care and kindness should extend to all animals, big and small. Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits - A bucket list adventure!!!

**Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.** **It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.** We did this trek with Meetup in the summer of 2024 and it was a true experience of a lifetime (see photos below) Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change. The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system. We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes. As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear. We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level and pace. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe. More about our trek/trip. As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wildlife. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season. **Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.** *But I don't have the needed gear?!* You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. We will provide you with a list of what is already included and what can be rented there. *Does this include food?* All meals on the trek potion are included and a cook travels with us! *What is lodging like?* We are sleeping in new and comfortable tents (carried during the day by porters) *I am new at this.* That's OK. We do plenty of prep Zooms before we depart. And in California we have a number of local outdoor day or weekend outings you can test out with us. *How dangerous is this? What if I get sick or hurt?* We will be walking on an established, well used trail the entire time. **Our trip INCLUDES emergency insurance.** We are also Certified Wilderness First Responders and our guides are members of (AMREF) Flying Doctor. **Plain and simple, safety is our primary goal.** *How much does this cost?* **Kilimanjaro Mountain Trek $3950 per person, double occupancy. Mt Kilimanjaro Trek! One of the 7 Summits - A bucket list adventure

**Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.** **It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.** We did this trek with Meetup in the summer of 2024 and it was a true experience of a lifetime (see photos below) Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change. The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system. We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes. As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear. We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level and pace. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe. More about our trek/trip. As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wildlife. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season. **Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.** *But I don't have the needed gear?!* You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. (Lake Merritt Loop) East Bay Morning Walk + Coffee ☕🌳

No alarm stress, no gear required — just good company and a solid loop. We'll meet at near the lake Merritt "Fairland" Sign (see photo for meeting spot day of the event -- there will be parking around near by and bart is near by for those joining from a far. This will chill \~2–3 mile walk. The pace is easy — think catching up on life, not chasing a PR. After the loop we'll grab coffee (or breakfast burritos, we don't judge) at a café (Equator Coffees, right across from the lake next to the whole foods) nearby. Whether you show up solo or bring a friend, you'll fit right in. Our walks are just as fun with 5 people as with 25 — no awkward standing around, just moving and chatting. 🐕 Dog-friendly! 👟 Any fitness level welcome — walkers and joggers mix fine ⏱️ About 2–3 miles / 1.5 hours total including the coffee hang 🅿️ Free parking available right at the trailhead RSVP so we have a rough headcount — but walk-ups are always welcome!

Alameda County's highest point (20mi RT, 5500' gain)

This is a tough but moderate paced hike to the highest point(s) in Alameda County. Because there are three contenders for that title including Rose Peak, the stats will be about 20mi RT with 5500' of gain. I hike at a steady, reasonable pace: this isn't going to be a trail run. However, you have to have done something with similar stats recently. We'll all stick together. I'll have the map on two phones + a power brick + a SpotX. You'll need to have with you: \- a water filter \(sometimes mine gets clogged\) \- rain gear and a puffer \(even if it's 80F\) \- two headlamps \(I use USB & they're cheap and light\) \- lots of food \(a 6oz pouch of peanut butter has 1000 calories\) \- enough water to get to the first source \(I'll verify with the park\) \- a backup map and/or GPS Heavy rain or temps in the 90s cancels, but anything else is OK. I'm from L.A. but I'll be in the area for the Qatar vs Switzerland World Cup match in Santa Clara at noon on June 13. So, there's also the possibility of doing this as a backpack starting late Saturday afternoon. If you'd prefer that I'd need you to suggest an itinerary since I'm not familiar with the camps in those parks. Note that at least one of the possible highpoints is on private property. If you aren't keen on trespassing you can wait for me while I bag it. If you aren't chatty that's OK. I mainly want a group along in case I need to be bailed out if I get arrested for trespassing.
