OAKLAND HILLS Cuddles - Cuddle Party in Oakland Hills! August 8th 2026
Sat, Aug 8, 8:00 PMNOTE: This event is cross posted, so RSVPs on Meetup do not reflect the actual number of tickets sold. We often sell out a week or so before the event, so it is advised to get your tickets well in advance. **Visit the [Eventbrite](https://OaklandHillsPlatonicTouch080826.eventbrite.com) listing to buy a ticket and get more info!** This workshop and social event offers participants opportunities to learn about and practice communication skills, explore consent, and discover the power of platonic touch. Attendees will practice identifying and asking for what they want, saying no to what they don’t want and yes to what they do want, and experimenting with platonic touch in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. This workshop and social event offers participants opportunities to learn about and practice communication skills, explore consent, and discover the power of platonic touch. Attendees will practice identifying and asking for what they want, saying no to what they don’t want and yes to what they do want, and experimenting with platonic touch in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. If you... 1. have been suffering from skin hunger and lack of touch in your life 2. desire physical contact with other people in a non-sexual way 3. long for nurturing and healing touch 4. need a safe place to relax and rejuvenate 5. are looking to connect with an inspiring and welcoming community 6. want to stretch out of your comfort zone 7. often find yourself in the role of caretaker, but need a turn to be taken care of 8. have no idea how to answer the question "what kind of touch do you like?" 9. feel overwhelmed by both a desire for connection and a desire to run away from connection ....then our Platonic Touch Workshop & Practice may be just what you have been looking for! More details about this event: **WHAT TO EXPECT:** Upon arrival participants will get checked in, make a name tag, and be directed to the workshop space. The welcome circle and workshop will introduce participants to one another and offer guided exercises and support to practice communication skills. Afterwards, there will be approximately two hours available for practicing touch, eating snacks, or just hanging out. Our event ends a few minutes before 6:00pm with a brief closing circle. NOTE: Touch is not required at this event. Every activity is optional. You are welcome to come and observe only. You get to choose THE WHOLE TIME. **SICK POLICY:** If you're feeling sick, please stay home. One of the ways we care for one another as a community is by helping prevent the spread of illness. If you're experiencing symptoms of a cold, the flu, COVID, or any other potentially contagious illness, we ask that you sit this one out and join us another time. If you're unable to attend because you're not feeling well, you may either transfer your ticket to a future Platonic Touch Workshop or receive a full refund. No questions asked. Thank you for helping us keep our community healthy. **PUNCTUALITY:** Allow time for losing your keys and getting caught in traffic and looking for parking in order to be on time. Doors open at 1:00pm and close PROMPTLY at 1:30pm. In order to provide a safe and respectful environment for all participants, there will be no admittance after 1:30pm. **PARKING**: There is very limited street parking near the home, so please carpool if possible. Additionally there is a parking lot called Shepherd Canyon Parking Lot 1 mile away and we will provide a shuttle service with passenger car(s). More conversation to come about the shuttle as we get closer to the event. **ACCESSIBILITY**: There is one flight of stairs to get to the front door and another flight of stairs into the cuddle space. One cat lives in the home, but will be confined to a separate room during our event. **CLOTHING:** Wear pajamas or comfortable lounge wear. Shoes are not allowed in the cuddle space where we will be gathering, and there will be a space for you to leave your shoes. **FOOD & BEVERAGE:** Please bring a snack, a potluck dish, or non-alcoholic beverage to share with the group in the kitchen area. **PERSONAL HYGIENE:** Avoid perfumes or any other strongly scented products, as some people may be sensitive to these. Make sure you have showered or bathed recently. **TICKETS:** You must reserve your spot by purchasing a ticket through Eventbrite. Once you have purchased your ticket, you will receive a confirmation email with exact location details. Your email address will also be added to the Platonic Touch email list, so you can receive emails about upcoming events, as well as links to register. You can unsubscribe to this list at any time. **FINANCIAL AID:** If you are facing financial hardship, I invite you to **use the promo code SUPPORT to get a 50% discount on your ticket.** There are a limited number of these discounted tickets available, so please only apply it if you need the discount in order to attend. **Join us on Plura (formerly Bloom)** to connect and chat before the event! **ABOUT ME:** I am a Certified Cuddle Party Facilitator. I also have more than ten years experience working in the field of early childhood and parent education which help me bring empathy, compassion, clarity, creativity and strong leadership into my role as a Cuddle Party Facilitator. I love creating safe spaces for people to connect to themselves and each other. To learn more about Cuddle Parties, click here: http://www.cuddleparty.com/ (I choose to call my events Platonic Touch Workshops & Practice because I have found that the term "cuddle party" can be intimidating to individuals new to the world of platonic touch. It's important to me that my events appeal to a broad spectrum of people and feel safe for everyone. If you are feeling intimidated about attending, please know that one of the foundational rules of our events is that you never have to touch anyone you don't want to, ever. In fact, not touching or cuddling is always an available and viable option. Aside from practicing touch, there is also space for chatting, writing, coloring, reading, napping, and eating snacks!) If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please message me through Eventbrite. All good things, Autumn Vandiver **Visit the [Eventbrite](https://OaklandHillsPlatonicTouch080826.eventbrite.com) listing to buy a ticket and get more info!**

🏝️ New Beginnings' 10th Annual Angel Island Day! 🌊
Sat, Aug 1, 5:00 PM**🎉 *WELCOME TO OUR 10TH ANNUAL ANGEL ISLAND DAY!*** A day of fun, food, libations, and great conversation—set in one of the most spectacular locations in the Bay Area! 🎯 ***3 AMAZING WAYS TO ENJOY THE DAY*** **🥾 1. The Grand Perimeter Hike (Approx. 6 miles)** Join the main crew for an epic loop around the island! Along the way, we’ll: * Sip wine and snack mid-hike * Stroll past Camp Reynolds (West Garrison), the historic Immigration Station, and buildings dating back to the Civil War * Take in stunning vistas of Richmond, Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, and the Bay Bridge ❤️ This is the heart of the day—a chance to move, laugh, and reconnect with old friends (or make a few new ones). **🏖️ 2. The Chill Quarry Beach Hike (Approx. 3.5 miles round trip)** Prefer a lighter walk? This scenic route hits historic highlights and ends at beautiful Quarry Beach—perfect for sunbathing, vino sipping, and pure relaxation. **🌴 3. Lounge Mode: Activated (Approx. 0 miles)** Not feeling the hike? Totally fine. Kick back at the smaller beach near our picnic site—nap under the trees, sip something cold, chat with friends in the shade, or just relax and enjoy our never-ending playlist of great music. No hiking boots required. 👉 **Choose your own adventure once you're on the island!** No wrong way to enjoy it—just don’t forget your camera! 👯 ***THE BIG GROUP HANG*** When the hike is done, we’ll all gather at the picnic site for a lively potluck lunch, refreshing drinks, group sing-along karaoke, spontaneous line dancing, and all-around good vibes. (🎶Karaoke playlist coming soon. Previous singing experience discouraged!😄) 🎒***WHAT TO BRING*** 🥾 **For the Hike or Beach Stop:** * Water (hydration is happiness!) * Tasty snacks, dips, deli bites to share * Optional: a bottle of wine to share on the trail 🥗 **For the Potluck Lunch** *(items stay at the picnic site; some folks will hang back and watch them)*: ✅ **[\[Please sign up HERE\]](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DMQjGah60g8-U0xbVClnOBE-tWfsm4aupTjqhkyt6kE/edit?usp=sharing)** so we don’t end up with 15 bags of chips and no hummus! 😄 **Some suggestions for what to bring:** * 🥪 Sandwiches, wraps, deli meats * 🧆 Hummus, ethnic favorites, sushi * 🧀 Cheeses, breads, salads * 🍰 Desserts, snacks, fruit * 🧃 Beer, wine, soda, juice, or a case of water to share * 🧊 A cooler with ice for your own items * 💧 Dont forget to bring enough water for yourself for the hike *and* for the rest of the day! 🍽️ We’ll have **plates, napkins, cups, and utensils** ready for you—huge thanks to our generous member donations! 🙌 🏖️ **For the Beach:** A few blankets or towels to spread out and chill 👟 **Clothing & Essentials:** • Layers for sun and breeze (especially on the ferry) • Sunscreen, hat, swimsuit, towel • Comfy shoes for hiking **⛴️ *FERRY DETAILS*** You’ll need to buy your own ferry tickets from SF or Tiburon (round-trip).
