Coastal Cleanup Day at Shimada Friendship Park

By caring for our shoreline, we're protecting the places where people and wildlife can thrive together. We're also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the California Coastal Act, the landmark law that has protected California's coast by preserving habitats, safeguarding wildlife, and ensuring public access to our shorelines. Participating in Coastal Cleanup Day is one way we can continue that legacy, helping protect the coast and Bay we all love for generations to come. A huge part of Coastal Cleanup Day is collecting data that helps scientists, communities, and policymakers better understand and prevent marine debris. Along with removing trash, volunteers will participate in interactive educational activities to learn how their efforts contribute to healthier ecosystems and cleaner waterways. Please wear layers, a hat and/or sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes. Cleanup supplies will be provided, but if you have them, please bring a bucket, reusable gloves, and a reusable water bottle to help us reduce waste. Join us in demanding that Petco stop selling animals! Animals are NOT merchandise. Animals sold in Petco, Petsmart, and other pet stores come from horrifically cruel breeding mills and some species are even kidnapped from their habitats in the wild. Shockingly, the majority of animals bred and shipped to pet stores die before they even reach the store shelf. Come and join me at the 13 Orphans for Community Day to play Mahjong and listen to people sing karaoke and maybe you'll sing too. Please note you have to have some experience playing Mahjong, since they will not have any coaches onsite.* To give as many guests as possible a chance to play, we operate on a rotation system. If all mahjong tables are full and there is a waitlist, our team may ask players who have been seated for a while to take a short break so we can rotate new guests into the game. If you're asked to rotate off a table, we appreciate your patience—we will do our best to seat you again within 20–30 minutes. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! (We also nearly lost the field previously because not enough people were there on time) See you there soon! 🔴 Note: Please, please, please don’t no show. 🙏 It makes these events really difficult to plan. If you no show once, you will be given lower priority for future events. The second time, you will be removed from the event list for any attendee limited event we host.

Sloshball/Dodgeball @ Marina Park, San Leandro

This event is very popular with people who like to socialize or like outdoor activities. BYOB (bring your own beer for dodgeball/sloshball) Easy to play will teach everyone when they get there. Lots of free parking spots available. Playing is optional. A lot people like to sit and watch while socializing with others as well. Join the group on Saturday 12:30 pm for Dodgeball/Sloshball at Marina , San Leandro. Arrive early, the game will start at 1:00pm. Feel free to come watch and hangout. I will try to arrive 15 mins early and post where we will meet when I get there. We can also go grab food/drinks after depending how the group feels. If you attend, play at your own risk. Dogs are welcome at this event!!!
