Hi all, Has been quite a while between events but we've made some major updates to our website and it's time to start things up again! Echo Active is going to be running and promoting eco-conscious events over spring and summer and into the new year. Our first event for this restart is a community plant sale by Rain Moth Community Nursery based in North Coburg. Rain Moth specialises in native plants, beneficial plants and veggies and are running a plant sale at Newlands Neighbourhood House this Sunday from 10am to 11:30am and they'd love your support. The sale is a community event and will feature DJ Abantiades on the decks playing some low-key disco/funk/house/electronic tunes. There will also be a library and chill-out zone with some great books to explore. Newlands has a beautiful garden but there is space inside if wet. **Plant list** You can choose from a big range of tomatoes, capsicum, eggplants, zucchini, okra, pumpkin, watermelon and rockmelon as well as the following: * Basil, fenugreek, Moldavian dragonhead and 10 different varieties of chillies, from mild to super spicy * Perennials like artichoke, rhubarb, German chamomile and curry leaf plants * Leeks, onions, lettuces, leafy greens, brassicas, beans, peas and plenty more Attract butterflies, hoverflies and other beneficial insects into your patch by planting flowers. We'll have: * Lots of sunflowers! * Cosmos, aquilegia, poppies, carnations and zinnias * Native flowers such as paper daisies and orchids There will also be a great selection of indigenous plants available. Note that when planted in spring these plants will need supplementary watering over the summer: * Groundcovers like saltbush, violets and clematis * Kangaroo grass, dianella and lomandra * Large quantities of flowers - common everlasting, Murnong, swamp daisy, native flax and showy isotome * A selection of shrubs and trees There will also be lots more available on the day. Be sure to bring cash as there are no card facilities. Safari at the Werribee Open Range Zoo

Join me for a full day out at Werribee Open Range Zoo — open grasslands, a free safari bus ride past rhinos, giraffes and zebras, and keeper talks running right through the day. It's one of those places that feels a long way from the city without actually being far at all. We'll travel out together by public transport. Meet me at Boost Juice inside Southern Cross Station at 7:45am, we'll walk to the platform together and catch the 8:04am train, then the connecting bus to the zoo, arriving around 9:29am. If that's too early for you, you're very welcome to make your own way there and meet us at the zoo entrance instead — just let me know so we can look out for you. Once we're in we'll take our time: hop on the safari bus, catch a few keeper talks, wander the walking trails and stop for lunch somewhere along the way. It's a relaxed day, not a race to see everything. One important thing: a Meetup RSVP is not a zoo ticket.
