Tarrytown Phone Photo Expedition: Old Croton Aqueduct Trail & Street Fair

Sunday June 7th, 2026!!! Let’s go to a Phone Photo Expedition to the Tarrytown Street Fair: an Outdoor Market with Music, food and Art. We will start the Day walking some 2 miles on the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail that runs through the Village and than go to the festivities on Main Street. Group meets at the Main Concourse Information Booth at Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan by the Golden Clock at 9:00am with tickets already purchased. Fun Urban Hike in Historic Coney Island and Beyond

Before Orlando and Vegas, Coney Island was America's premier amusement area, with fabled parks called Steeplechase, Dreamland and the original Luna Park, along with Nathan's hot dogs. On our hike we will see where these places were, and what became of them today. We will also walk by the Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball stadium, the landmarked Wonder Wheel in Deno's Park and the new Luna Park. We also visit an outdoor street art museum, as well as a Coney Island history display nearby. We end the day on the boardwalk, going to Brighton Beach, where we can get the subway. We will walk at a steady, moderate but not slow pace over a distance of around 4 miles, stopping at places of interest. There will be no lunch stop, so bring some snacks along if you wish. Urban Athletics: Bike the NYC Bridges by Night

The other night I was on my bike riding around town and was struck by how dramatically the vibe of the city changes once the sun sets. People get out on their cycles and enjoy this town during the day but most of us put them away when the evening comes. That's like ordering a slice of pizza, throwing away the cheese and only eating the crust -- you're only getting half of what makes the experience great. **The plan...** We are going to take a nighttime tour of the East River bridges, we'll wheel through three boroughs and cross over five spans -- the Queensboro, Pulaski, Williamsburg, Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges. This ride will highlight the stunning vistas only viewable from our water crossings and take in different views of the sparkling nighttime Manhattan skyline. If there was ever a time to go through the hassle of carrying your camera with you, this will be it. **The important stuff...** • This is going to be a casually-paced ride of about 17 miles. Most of the ride will take place in bike lanes but there will be parts with some automobile congestion. You must be comfortable riding in a group and in traffic. Lights and reflectors for your bike are also REQUIRED by law. **Helmets are mandatory otherwise you will not be allowed to ride with the group.** • This is a night ride so dress to be seen by motorists and pedestrians -- bright or reflective clothing is a must. • Make sure your bike is in good working order before the meetup and bring a lock in case we need to leave our cycles. There may be a security check before you board the Ferry so please leave your weapons at home. We will meet at 10:05 A.M. to catch the next departing ferry which is FREE at this time of the day. YOU MUST ARRIVE ON TIME TO CATCH THE FERRY. AND THERE WILL BE A LONG LINE WHICH DOES MOVE FAST. It’s less crowded on the Island in the morning. (We start early because, to me, it's like going to a lunch buffet-you want to get there early before everyone breathes on the food!) Bring water. We are going to finish AROUND 1:45 p.m or so. You can bring lunch to eat on the Island AFTER we finish. THIS GROUP NEVER STOPS TO GO FOOD SHOPPING. If you want to shop for food after the tour is finished, that's another story! I am also going to ask that people NOT post any comments or questions prior to the event. You have more than enough information to do this once you get the meeting details. No offense, but I don’t need to know-and probably neither does anyone else- what you are doing that day if you can’t make it or what you think the weather will be. AFTER the event, post as many comments and photos as you like. Please respect my wishes on this. If the weather forecast is really bad, I will post a notice on the day of the hike by 7:00 A.M. Adventure in Nature: a Walk in Forest Park

F trains) **PACE**: This is a **LEISURELY PACE HIKE AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.** We will have stops for water breaks, lunch break, take time to soak in the surrounding views, savor the sights and sounds of nature. **PLEASE, NO SPEED DEMONS!!!!** **DURATION**: We should be done by 3pm but no guarantee. You can leave on your own at any time. We won’t judge. Much. **THE IMPORTANT STUFF:** * Dress for the weather in non-cotton layers. * Wear appropriate shoes suitable for hiking. * Bring liquid to stay hydrated. * Bring lunch and snacks for yourself. * Bring a sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way.
