Psychology Lab #1 — How Does Psychotherapy Actually Work?

Sat, Sep 12, 2:00 PM
From Psychology Lab Berlin - Learn. Discuss. Explore

**How Does Psychotherapy Actually Work?** **5 different ways of understanding the human mind!** Why can different therapists look at the same person and understand them completely differently? For our first Psychology Lab, we will explore five major approaches to psychotherapy: **psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, CBT, humanistic, systemic, and existential.** We will ask: **What shapes who we become? Why do we struggle? And what actually helps us change?** We'll start with a short research-based presentation, followed by an open discussion comparing the different perspectives, their strengths, contradictions, and limitations. No formal psychology background is required, Some prior knowledge of psychology or psychotherapy is recommended. This is a space for people who want to engage with psychological ideas beyond an introductory or pop-psychology level. 🧠 30 min deep dive 💬 45–60 min discussion ☕ Social time before & after **Saturday, September 12 · 16:00** 📍 Central Berlin — The Social Hub Berlin at Alexandraplatz Please note: This is an educational discussion group focused on learning about psychology and psychotherapy together - not a therapy, support or self-help group.

Blood on the Clocktower at Manifesto! (beginner/intermediate)

Blood on the Clocktower at Manifesto! (beginner/intermediate)

Sun, Sep 13, 1:00 PM
From Berlin Board Gamers
4.8

Hi folks, this is the meetup group for the weekly Sunday Blood on the Clocktower games in the Soot bar in Manifesto at Potsdamer Platz. We run beginner-friendly and intermediate-level games throughout the afternoon and evening. **Friendly newcomers of all skill levels are welcome, no experience required!** Our group aims to provide a fun and welcoming space to experience this thrilling game of social deception. **We focus on promoting a positive and fun group atmosphere, where players don’t take themselves or the game too seriously, whether they’re heroically winning or spectacularly losing.** Our players follow the code of conduct for the Berlin Board Gamers group and are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration – “killing with grace, and dying with dignity”. We are usually able to offer two simultaneous games on Sundays. If you are marked as "attending" in Meetup and are in your seat at 15:00, your place is guaranteed for as long as you want to stay. All other seats are first come, first served. We always run at least one beginner-friendly game of the basic version of Clocktower ("Trouble Brewing") throughout the afternoon and evening. We also usually have enough players for a second intermediate-level game. If you are already very familiar with Clocktower, consider also joining our Tuesday meetup for advanced players, when we play with complex custom scripts and characters. Blood on the Clocktower is a deep, mechanical game of murder and mystery, lies and logic, deduction and deception… think Werewolf on steroids. Each player receives a unique secret role and plays either for the good team – the uninformed majority, gathering info and working with others to solve the puzzle – or the evil team, the informed minority, scheming to eliminate good players and protect their demon from execution. In our beginner games no prior experience is expected and we will gladly explain the game rules to any newcomers. We play in English so players should be able to understand and express themselves in English: an exception is possible for one pair of players willing to play together (as a “Revolutionary” pair) where one player can interpret into and out of English. Please let us know in advance if this is the case. We are very grateful to the wonderful folks at Manifesto for hosting our meetup! **Please support the venue during your visit by buying drinks and/or food.**

Case File: Murder on the Luxury Yacht — Live Detective Investigation

Case File: Murder on the Luxury Yacht — Live Detective Investigation

Sat, Sep 19, 2:00 PM
From Berlin Recommended Murder Mystery Meetup Group
5.0

**Hello my fellow private investigators,** Join us for a live group investigation into a fictional unsolved murder on a luxury yacht. This isn't a roleplay night — you won't be assigned a character or a script. We're all detectives working the same case together, reading through witness statements, forensic reports, crime scene photos, and physical evidence, and reasoning out loud as a group to figure out who did it and why. **What to expect:** * **Format:** A sealed case file, opened in stages. Each stage builds on what we've already worked out — no do-overs, no host feeding us answers, just the evidence. * **Group size:** Works best in small teams of 3–5, so if we've got a bigger crowd we'll split into tables. * **Time:** Plan for roughly 2.5–3 hours. This is a sit-down, take-notes-and-argue kind of afternoon, not a quick game. * **Difficulty:** Medium to hard. Expect false leads, evidence that seems to point one way and doesn't, and a solution that rewards people who cross-reference details rather than go with their gut. * **Beyond the paper:** Some elements may ask us to step outside the file itself — a phone number to call, a social profile to check — so come ready to treat the "world" of the case as real. * **No prior experience needed.** No puzzles to decode, no trivia knowledge required — everything you need to solve it is somewhere in the file. * **Language:** This event will be run in English. **Location:** I'll message the exact meeting spot in the park to everyone who's RSVP'd one day before the event. **Cost:** This event is free to join! If you enjoy the game, you're welcome to leave a donation afterward — anything from €5 upward helps cover the cost of the case and organizing the event. No pressure either way, just come, play, and have fun.
