Perhaps more if time allows. Obsession had excellent use of shadows and I will do my best to recreate some of the shots. I will explain my working theory, the processes I use to get that high contrast image to get deep shadows, and how to backlight and balance the lighting so you can have a usable image for post processing. This will be a collaborative exercise where I will be the guide. Note: There are only 12 spots and this will be a popular one!

Unfolding Year 3 ☕️🍁

Unfolding Year 3 ☕️🍁

Sun, Sep 13, 1:00 PM
From Origami Crafters in Berlin
4.9

Year 3 begins where we have folded many times before -- **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)**! Whether you have been in our paper community since Year 1 or are joining for the very first time, come along and start our third year together with some good old-fashioned paper fun! ☕️🍁 What you can expect at all our events: * **In-person folding practice for all levels** – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome. * **Origami paper + model instructions will be provided** (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools! * **Donation in any amount you choose** – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving 🌱 You can either submit a **physical donation** to the event host in person or make a **digital donation** **[here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE)** (and inform the host afterwards). * Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/origamiandbeyond/) and [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear. * **We kindly encourage everyone to order at least one drink/snack to support** **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)** **for hosting us!** ⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️
Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully: * RSVP opens 7 days before each event (apart from short-notice events) and closes at noon on the event day. * Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi) channel) by noon on the event day if you can't make it last minute. * Members with 2 no-shows (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided. Thank you for helping us keep Origami Crafters Berlin respectful, reliable, and fun! 🙏 Get in touch if you have questions and see you all at the folding tables very soon! ☕️🍁

This week we are discussing **Min Jin Lee:** Pachinko. If you have book suggestions, would like to vote on our next reads, or join us for additional activities, please ask someone at the meeting to add you to our WhatsApp group. Just a heads up: **The cafe only accepts card payments for amounts over €10**, so you may want to bring some cash for smaller orders. **Also, if you're unable to attend, please update your RSVP so that someone from the waiting list can take your spot.**

Sunday Knitting Neukölln

Sunday Knitting Neukölln

Sun, Sep 27, 12:00 PM
From ssk and k2tog - Knitting in Berlin
4.9

This location is one of our favourite spots for knitting. The cake selection is great, the food is delicious & it is bright enough for our needs. The only downside is the sometimes limited numbers of seats. (So to give those on the waiting list a chance to participate, please decline again, if you can't make it, even when it's short-term)

Reading in Companionable SILENCE - Botanical Garden Series

Reading in Companionable SILENCE - Botanical Garden Series

Sun, Sep 13, 9:00 AM
From Berlin Book Club
4.8

Susana is taking you to paradise in this (and another) edition of Reading in Companionable Silence - please see her lovely invitation. Let's read at a paradise for all garden lovers: the Royal Garden Academy, the former “Royal Gardening School,” directly across from the Botanical Garden! We'll order upon arrival, chat and eat for half an hour. Then we read for an hour in silence and talk about our reading impressions! The idea is to then enjoy a walk around Berlin's charming botanical gardens and maybe even find more reading spots inside. That part is optional, of course 🤗. Admission costs EUR 10, or EUR 5 reduced. Annual tickets costs EUR 30. Susana Only RSVP if you really intend to come and are sure that you can make it. Please don’t waste our hosts‘s time and energy by reserving a spot and then dropping out at short notice.

Reading in Companionable SILENCE

Picknick in Treptower Park Let's combine a Reading In Companiable Silence with a Picknick in Treptower Park! With dry weather we would meet close to Gustav-Meyer-Denkmal on the grass (https://maps.app.goo.gl/rtrx1BhQvLvB1civ8 ). Then consider bringing a picnic mat, a hat, sunscreen and something to snack or drink for a little potluck. If one day before it seems like it might rain I would book a table for us at Alchemist Café instead (https://maps.app.goo.gl/UQp8XcriA3qyrsmdA?g_st=ac ). Then you wouldn't need to bring anything else than something to read. I'm looking forward to meeting you!"
