This group is here to fix that. It's a space for people who lift or train regularly to connect, swap tips, find training partners, and actually make friends who get the gym life. This meetup is simple. No workouts, no pressure, just a relaxed afternoon connecting gym goers over coffee. Whether you're reading a novel in Arabic, a memoir in English, or a philosophical essay in German, you're welcome to bring it and share a few thoughts. Bring a book, a notebook, a sketchpad, knitting needles, whatever you’d like to spend a quiet hour doing. All projects and all participants are welcome. We’re building a community of readers and creators who value depth, presence, and shared silence. The reading and creating isn't the real highlight, though, it’s in the people who return and make it feel like a familiar room. Launch: No Small Talk at Metis — our new non-fiction book club

Some conversations deserve more than small talk. That's the whole idea behind our new English-language book club: a room where we skip the weather and get straight to the books — and the questions — that actually matter. **No Small Talk at Metis** is a non-fiction reading group for people who like to argue (kindly), think out loud, and leave a little changed. We'll read the essays, reportage and ideas shaping the world right now — politics, society, history, the present moment — and talk about them properly, over a drink, in good company. **This is our launch evening.** Come meet the club, the hosts and your fellow readers, find out how it'll work, and pick up the first book together. No preparation needed for this one — just curiosity and an opinion or two. Whether you're a lifelong non-fiction reader or someone who's been meaning to read more of it, you're exactly who we're hoping to see. **Our first book:** *One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This* by **Omar El Akkad** — winner of the 2025 National Book Award for Nonfiction. A searing, deeply personal reckoning by the novelist and journalist with the war on Gaza and the moral failures of the West, taking its title from his own words that went around the world in October 2023. Tuesday Pool Night in Spandau — For Experienced Players

## Do you play pool regularly, feel confident with the basics, and enjoy more challenging games with other skilled players? Then this Meetup is for you. ### What to expect * More challenging pool games with **experienced and skilled players**. * Rotating players to create different matchups and keep the games varied and interesting. * A friendly and relaxed atmosphere – having fun and enjoying the game together is still the main focus. * We start on time, so please arrive punctually so that we can organize the games properly. * We always play from **7:00 PM to 9:00 PM**. ### Who is this Meetup for? This Meetup is specifically intended for players who would describe themselves as **really good at pool**. You should know the basic rules confidently, play regularly, and be able to control the cue ball and object balls reasonably well and put together simple runs. You do not need to be a tournament player or a professional. However, the overall playing level should be clearly above that of a beginner or casual player. If you have only recently started playing pool or still need help with the basics, our regular **Tuesday Pool Night in Spandau — Beginners Welcome** is probably a better fit for you. ### Costs You pay for your own drinks and your share of the table costs directly at the venue at the end of the event. **I do not collect any money from you.** The exact table cost depends on the size of the group. Normally, the cost per person is **under €10 plus drinks**. If you would like to leave early, a flat fee of **€10** will be charged for your share of the table costs.
