The East Village Secret Gardens

The East Village Secret Gardens

Sat, Aug 1, 5:00 PM
From NYC Photographers

Letโ€™s spend a Saturday afternoon visiting many of the tiny but interesting gardens hidden on the streets of the East Village in Manhattan. **We can meet Saturday August 1st at 1:00pm on the corner outside El Churro, Allan Street and East Houston Street.** *Closest subway is the F train 2nd Ave. Station which has an exit right across the street on Allan.* Unbeknownst to many, there are quite a number of tiny creative community gardens between our meeting point and East 14th Street and most are only open to the general public on Saturday afternoons. I have a map showing 15 of them but Iโ€™m not sure we will be able to visit all or if all will be open. We should be able to visit most of them but we will need to walk quite a bit so please wear good comfortable shoes. These gardens have been created in vacant lots sometimes after struggles against developers wishing to build there. The community won most of these cases and the gardens now exist in perpetuity. Some gardens are more creative than others but most are quite worth a visit. Along with the gardens we will wander the East Village streets very often a great location for street photography. This will be a good opportunity to practice diverse genres of creative photography as well as some good physical exercise. _._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._._. Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page. Cellular phone numbers are private and will not be provided. If you have questions, please leave them in the comments below before the event begins. *Disclaimer: Participation in these events requires that you assume all risks associated with these activities and that the Organizers, Co-Organizers, and Event Hosts are in no way liable for any tickets/summons, loss, theft, damage, illness or injury as a result of your participation. [Which art style are you? Vote and see who shares your lane.](https://app.favr.town/polls/s_378XeL85R4csGQ?r=@lovemaze) Our preferences in art reveal more about us than we often realize. Long before personality traits were formally categorized, psychologists studied personality differences through individuals' ratings of various paintings. If you find yourself drawn to the same piece of artwork, there's a strong chance you share a deep connection. Meet in the museum for an excursion. Sign up on [favr.town](https://favr.town/) and predict your next art buddy before you meet. Find out if you're right when you meet onsite. Or, if you fancy other museums, pin them at times that work for you on [favr.town](https://favr.town/) and discover who you might meet there. Note: This is a [Favr.town](http://favr.town/) member exclusive event. [Join](https://favr.town/events/meet-and-shop-trader-joes-trader-joes-2026-06-15-17-00) [[https://favr.town](https://favr.town/) ] Hint: Fans of abstract art tend to be creative, pop art lovers are often optimistic, impressionism enthusiasts are more likely to be conscientious, and those who prefer traditional art tend to be, well, more traditional. Something extra: Why do these traits matter? See how [optimism](https://favr.town/blog/the-power-of-optimism-in-relationships-how-a-positive-outlook-strengthens-resilience-emotional-health-and-lasting-love-2025-11-20), [conscientiousness](https://favr.town/blog/how-responsibility-and-reliability-build-trust-and-lasting-love-2026-04-19), [traditional values](https://favr.town/blog/prioritizing-family-values-for-lasting-commitment-and-love-2025-12-17), and [excitement](https://favr.town/blog/how-novelty-play-and-shared-adventure-keep-love-alive-2025-12-14) influence relationships. You can also measure how your sense of [optimism](https://app.favr.town/we?t=1&s=1&b=OPTIMISTIC), [conscientiousness](https://app.favr.town/we?t=1&s=2&b=CONSCIENTIOUS), [traditional values](https://app.favr.town/we?t=1&s=2&b=TRADITIONAL), and [excitement](https://app.favr.town/we?t=1&s=2&b=EXCITING) stack up against others.
