Fixer's Collective Manhattan Fixing Session

Come bring your broken items in need of some TLC to Hack Manhattan for this month's session of the Fixers' Collective. All are welcome, whether you have something to fix or just want to observe and watch. We encourage people to bring in their items early, so we can devote the most time to the item. Subsequently, if you arrive in the middle of a fix, we’ll try to accommodate you as best as we can. trashscapes: a noticing (and photo) walk

**LOOK DOWN MORE!** ​ ​A casual walk through the East Village for anyone who wants to slow down, look more carefully at what's around them, and capture what they find. On this walk, we'll move slowly through the neighborhood looking for things worth pausing at and then figuring out how to capture them. I suggest a phone or camera, but feel free to bring a sketchbook or whatever you prefer. Over a decade of daily walks, the habit became an archive of what gets left behind. I'm drawn to the way found matter interplays with the city's infrastructure—using it as framing, finding balance in color and form, and making the incidental feel composed.

Visit to Dia: Beacon

Let's make a visit to Dia: Beacon, a contemporary art museum located in Westchester, NY. After viewing the exhibits on display, we can explore the town of Beacon and have lunch. Must prepay to attend.)* Scenic Singles event to meet, mix and mingle with others for a "Date Walk" at one of New York City’s hottest attractions – Little Island! Located at Pier 55 on Manhattan’s Hudson River Park, Little Island is a floating park full of greenery, open spaces, viewpoints, and more. Our "Sunset Singles Strolls" are an extremely popular way to meet others in a safe, outdoor setting. Enjoy a fun way to meet others while getting fresh air and exercise. This event very casual and non-awkward + our host will help to make introductions. During the walk, you will randomly be paired with other singles in the beginning then rotate at designated times so that you get to meet everyone participating. We'll make several stops along the park so that people can take pictures and admire the beautiful views. We'll circle the island a couple of times and then afterwards, we'll continue the walk along the Hudson River. Once the walk is over, you're welcome to hang out and exchange contact info with others. Experience all the components of the "island", nestled among flowers, trees and shrubs, along with dazzling views of other portions of Hudson River Park, New York City and the Hudson River. Monthly OMGNYC (Origami Meetup Group) meeting!

Every third Saturday of the month we meet to fold and learn new things. The NYPL on W 53rd ST (Across from MOMA) has generously offered their wonderful community meeting rooms for our monthly meetings! Come and fold with us every 3rd Saturdays! The meeting is free and open to people of all levels of folding! Feel free to bring books and paper to share. There will always be plenty of paper and things to learn. Everyone should also register at the library's webpage for this event to guarantee your attendance.
