Sketch Wagner Park!
Sat, Sep 19, 3:00 PMThe recently renovated Robert F. Wagner park is perfectly situated for sweeping views of the bay, Ellis Island, and Statue of Liberty. Let's hang out in the park and draw! **We'll meet at the south entrance to the park, by Little W St and Battery Place.** Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at 646-831-9816. Looking forward to sketching with you! *** IMPORTANT: In case of rain, I will let people know early in the morning if it is canceled, and then reschedule for another day. *** What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything! • We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches. • Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you. • We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another! • We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch! • Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. Thanks. • The Meetup is FREE and everyone at all skill levels is welcome! *** Please note that if you add a comment below it will spam everyone with an email, so please use your judgment.

Painting Tribeca (Duane Park and Skybridge)
Sat, Sep 12, 3:00 PMDuane Park is an excellent location with a lot of space to paint the surrounding buildings, including a skybridge! Obviously there's lots of other great cast iron facades and old warehouses and new bougie brunch spots--it is Tribeca after all. Our meeting point will be at 11am inside Duane Park. Check in with me on-site so I know who's attending, and then we'll disperse to our individual painting spots. At 2pm, we'll meet back up to show off our art and discuss the day. Gather your materials (watercolor, oils, gouache, acrylics, marker: all are welcome) and join with other artists for the joys and challenges of painting outside!

Plein Air Painting with a model posing in Central Park
Sat, Sep 19, 2:30 PM**Please read the Community Code on the Group Description page before you RSVP** **What to Expect:** * You know the feeling when you spot someone in the park, the light hits just right, and you want to capture them... and then they're gone before you finish drawing or painting. While quick poses are a great exercise, sometimes it's nice to be able to finish a piece you start. * This session solves that. We'll have a **live model,** posed and holding. We'll spend **3 hours** in the park making art and enjoying each other's company, followed by a trip to a nearby cafe/restaurant to keep the conversation going *(it's not mandatory, so it's not included in the event duration*). **Location:** Central Park. The exact spot will be shared a couple days before the event with **confirmed participants only.** **This is a paid session:** There is an upfront **fee of 25$** required to confirm your spot. All the money collected will go to the model. **Our Model:** We're joined by Maria Diaz, a beautiful and long-time professional model, posed in a dress for this session. **Agenda:** Please arrive by 10:30, as the session starts promptly at 11 am, giving us time to meet as a group and get set up. **Session time** \- 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM\. We will paint in 20-minute poses with 5-minute breaks in between, plus one longer 15-minute break mid-session. **What to Bring: (No Materials are provided for this session)** * Something to paint with — your preferred painting mediums: oil paints, watercolours, acrylics, gouache, ink, pastel, markers etc. Brushes, pens and/or pencils. * Something to paint on — linen, canvas, paper, sketchbook etc. * Easels/pochade box (optional). * Dress comfortably for outdoor painting and bring a hat to shield yourself from the sun. * Bring a folding chair or a picnic blanket if you like to sit and draw. **IMPORTANT NOTES -** 1. While this is a community of artists who love sharing the joy of painting plein air and supporting one another's practice, please note that this is **NOT** an instructed session. 2. Signing up on Meetup ***does not confirm your RSVP — you must also email or text to confirm your spot:*** **Email:** insiyapardiwala@gmail.com **Text:** 706-286-4715 3. All money collected goes directly to the model. 4. In case of rain or extremely bad weather, we will find a covered spot in the park or reschedule the session. 5. Taking pictures of the model without her consent is strictly prohibited. 6. We snap pics for social media (artists and artwork only) If you're not cool with that, just give us a heads-up!
