Sketchbook: V&A Sculpture Room

Lets sketch in the sculpture room at the V&A South Kensington I love this set of rooms, there's tonnes of amazing sculptures here. Sculptures act as such effective life drawing models cus they don't move! If anyone wishes to sketch any other part of the museum they are of course welcome to. We will meet outside the main entrance on Cromwell Road at 11am, I'll wait for about 15 minutes and then we will head in to the sculpture room together. Afterwards we can then meet back there at 1pm and maybe sit in the courtyard and compare drawings! Feel free to drop in for the whole two hours or just short while if you'd prefer. Look for the tall ginger fella with a sketchbook as an indicator of the meetup spot, but feel free to roam as far and wide as you like and sketch anything you damn well please! No payment, no pressure, no need to sign up, just show up and draw for a couple of hours. All levels, abilities and professions welcome, bring a friend! Zero pressure to interact, network, impress in any way, this is just a way to get out and about and appreciate the joy of urban sketching and all the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabit this thriving metropolis. Acrylic Painting Workshop - October 2026

It has been such a joy watching our little creative community grow over the past few months — seeing people leave with a finished painting they're genuinely proud of is exactly why we do this! If you've been meaning to join us all year, this is your last chance in 2026, don't let it pass you by! Think of it as a studio class in the relaxed, welcoming setting of your local pub; a space to get real, hands-on painting experience without the pressure of enrolling in a formal class. You'll choose the painting you want to achieve and Dhanishtha will help you pick the right one for your level — but feel free to challenge yourself! From there you'll learn how to use acrylics, mix your colours, and build your painting up on canvas layer by layer. Dhanishtha moves around every participant throughout the session, offering 1-to-1 guidance. Everyone is different, some people prefer more hands-on support while others like to find their own way, so Dhanishtha works entirely according to your preference. Do you wish to copy a beloved piece of clothing? Would you like to learn how to adjust your own pattern to fit just you? Learn how to take body measurements, read and alter a commercial pattern to fit, lay out and cut fabric and construct a finished garment to a high standard using one of our Janome 525s or Bernina 1008 series sewing machines. During the sessions of this small group of learners you will gain confidence and improve any sewing skills you already have. If you have never used a machine, we can guide you through making a simple garment from a purchased pattern. Bring your own pattern or use one of our small selection. If you have sewing experience but want to start creating your own patterns, you can learn how to create a bespoke piece of clothing. You can also bring a piece of clothing to alter or fix. We supply the basics and the calico you will use to make a ‘toile’ (an inexpensive mock up) to save you ruining your chosen final fabric. Along the way, talented tutor and seamstress will teach you lots of techniques and tips to ramp up your sewing passion. This is a perfect class if you have been teaching yourself so far, or if your last project was made a long time ago at school. **Suitable for:** Suitable for beginners, enjoyable for those with experience. SATURDAY Painting Landscapes Workshop

Join us for a 'painting landscapes' workshop run by illustrator Jess Nash. Throughout the session, you will be introduced to different painting techniques from mixing vibrant colours to painting loosely - resulting in the creation of your landscape painting on paper to take home. This workshop is perfect for those who have a good knowledge of basic colour mixing and are looking for a cosy painting class. Feel free to bring along an image of a landscape that you would like to paint in the session. This could be photos that you've taken yourself or just scenes from other photos that you like. Landscape images will be provided by Jess, if you don't have any. ***This week's session is focussed on painting clouds and will re-introduce you to a simple technique to help you paint light wispy clouds effectively; so expect to create some lovely cloudy landscapes.*** All materials are provided, however this is a paid event.
