Eager to meet other creative people in your corner of Sydney? Or just looking for a welcoming space to relax and make something with your hands? Our community Craft-ernoon is for you. Think of it as a creative hub for everyone—from kids discovering the joy of glitter glue to seniors sharing a lifetime of skills. It’s a relaxed, unstructured afternoon to connect with neighbours of all ages. **What to bring:** * **Your current project:** Whether it’s crochet, sketching, or scrapbooking, bring it along! * **Just yourself!** If you don’t have a project, don't worry. We’d love your help knitting or sewing a "Trauma Teddy" to comfort someone in need. All materials are provided. * **The kids!** We’ll have a station with simpler crafts ready for little hands. **All the nitty-gritty:** * **When:** 2pm on the first Saturday of every month * **Where:** Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 9 Warrawee Place, Beverly Hills (sadly, the one near Hurstville, not LA!). We're in the main hall at the back of the building. * **Cost:** Free! Seriously. We’re happy to provide the space and materials. * **Parking:** Warrawee Place can be tight, so try Tooronga Terrace or Ponyara Road for more spots. **A note from our hosts** Beverly Hills Baptist Church is delighted to host this community gathering. Hey all, This meetup is scheduled every second Sunday from 3 - 5:30pm. The Dove and Olive serves a delicious Sunday Roast lunch with a vegan option and a full pub menu, so we'll reserve a table for 10. So come for Sunday lunch, a drink or both. Please make sure that you change your RSVP if you won't be able to make it. Please communicate with others on this forum and RSVP promptly and honestly so everyone can check whether there will be people attending each scheduled week. Bring your own yarn materials and ideas! Unfortunately we have had to introduce a voluntary $2 per meeting charge to cover the cost of maintaining Meetup as it has fees every 6 months. October Meetup for the Sydney Nature Journal Club

Come along to our **October meetup for the Sydney Nature Journal Club**. This is a chance to connect, spend some time in nature and journal together. I will offer some guidance to start. After we can share journal pages and ideas. **What to bring:** Bring along sketchbooks/paper and your favourite drawing materials (pens, pencils, watercolour, acrylic, anything you have). I will have extra materials on the day if you want to explore other mediums. \*\*Where:\*\* TBC **Cost:** Suggested donation is $10 annual fee, $5 casual fee. (This helps cover Meetup fees). Sydney Headless Way Workshop

Contemplative traditions have variously described your true nature as void-like, empty and yet full of the world, a clear light, pure awareness. Douglas Harding developed innovative experiments for directly seeing your true nature. This approach, the Headless Way, is simple and practical and offers techniques for investigating who or what you really are for yourself. As it is based upon your own experience, you are the authority, no one else. Bentyn Ramm is a philosopher who researches consciousness and first-person experience using the Headless Way experiments. Join him and others interested in this approach in Sydney for an afternoon of exploration of our first-person identity. Agenda: This is a first-person experiential approach. The workshop will involve doing the main Headless Way experiments together (basically guided meditations), including sharing reflections on our experiences and working with partners for some experiments. There is a half hour tea break in the middle of the workshop. Short Story Club is a reading club for time-poor people who love speculative fiction. Just like other clubs we read the story and discuss it... though expect to go deeper into craft as writers. This session we're reading Ditmar finalist '[Bright Hearts](https://reactormag.com/bright-hearts-kaaron-warren/)' by Kaaron Warren. Kaaron Warren published her first short story in 1993 and has had fiction in print every year since. She has published six multi-award winning novels (*Slights*, *Walking the Tree*, *Mistification*, *The Grief Hole*, *Tide of Stone*, and *The Underhistory*) and eight short story collections, the most recent being *Calvaria Fell*, with Cat Sparks. No need to bring anything but your thoughts, having read the story.

We will listen to one episode, with time after to discuss the nights podcast. So, you bring the craft and we will bring the crime!
