On Sunday, Nov 1st, we’ll watch a highly anticipated matchup in English football (soccer) - Liverpool vs Arsenal, at a popular sports bar in NYC. Manhattan Smutty Book Club - Dearly Departed by Chip Pons

The book for each month will be chosen at the book club before. So come with your suggestions! Please join us at Cornerstone Tavern, 961 2nd Ave, New York, NY (51st and 2nd) for great conversation, laughs, and friendship. Look for our signs, and listen for the laughter. We are often in the back of Cornerstone behind the curtain, which is actually a different restaurant called the Stags Head. We start at 7pm, but feel free to come early before happy hour ends at 7. People usually start to drift in by 6:30pm.

Queer Book Club - Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova

Hey Everyone! **Welcome to Queer Book Club! We read books about, for and written by queer people! Follow us on Instagram @queer_book_club Our next meetup will be held on Tuesday November 10th at Young Ethel’s in Park Slope BK This month we will be reading Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova ** A literary horror debut about a boy who transforms into a monster, a monster who tries to be a man, and the people who love him in every form he takes Grieving mother Magos cuts out a piece of her deceased eleven-year-old son Santiago’s lung. Acting on fierce maternal instinct and the dubious logic of an old folktale, she nurtures the lung until it gains sentience, growing into the carnivorous little Monstrilio she keeps hidden within the walls of her family’s decaying Mexico City estate. Eventually, Monstrilio begins to resemble the Santiago he once was, but his innate impulses—though curbed by his biological and chosen family’s communal care—threaten to destroy this fragile second chance at life. A thought-provoking meditation on grief, acceptance, and the monstrous sides of love and loyalty, Gerardo Sámano Córdova blends bold imagination and evocative prose with deep emotional rigor. Told in four acts that span the globe from Brooklyn to Berlin, Monstrilio offers, with uncanny clarity, a cathartic and precise portrait of being human. **At the end of the discussion we can vote on which book we read for next month so bring a queer suggestion. The Touch Grass Book Club Meet-Up: Mary Oliver's Upstream

Bring your journal and your sense of wonder (and maybe a pair of binoculars) to the first Touch Grass Book Club meet-up! In this session, we'll be exploring Mary Oliver's iconic essay collection Upstream and then venturing out to do some nature observation and writing of our own. From there, we'll reconvene to discuss what we experienced and learned. Light snacks will be provided! 7.00 AM Ready - Asphalt Green (UPPER EAST SIDE)

This game is INTERMEDIATE - meaning it's a fun kickaround with a mix of skill levels but all players have experience. It's great for anyone looking for a quality game with laid-back people in a no-pressure environment. Not for beginners. Please show up early so we can kick the game off in time. Please bring a WHITE and DARK T shirt so we can divide up teams. Format and Rules: • Games are full field with 2 teams of 10 players, rotating goalkeepers, and full-sized nets. Everyone gets equal playing time and no one sits on the sidelines (unless you want a break). • Feel Good games means that we don't play to win - we play to get a great workout, enjoy the friendly competition, and maybe even show off some skills :) • No slide tackles or rough challenges allowed and no barking at other players. The goal is have a great game and leave with good vibes. • As guests of Asphalt Green we must act responsibly at all times. Think red carpet energy with zero dress shoes allowed. Pair your best suit with your trusty daily trainers, or your sparkliest sequins with your speediest supershoes. The more mismatched, the better. We see you in shorts every week, so this is your chance to show us what you've got. Go all out on everything above the ankles. Formal from the laces up is the only rule we take seriously. 👔👗 Bring your plus-one, your pace group, or the friend you've been trying to get out on a run.
