They like board games; we like board games... it's a match made in heaven! WHAT TYPE OF GAMES ARE PLAYED? All types. Real short bluffing games decorated with skulls and flowers. Cooperative games fighting horrible diseases. Classic euro games where you haggle over sheep and wheat. Whether you want to fight unspeakable horrors in Arkham or build railroads across America or rebuild your farm after the black plague (more fun than it sounds) you can probably find a game you would like. Some games you might see are 7 Wonders, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Dominion, Dixit, Puerto Rico, Eldritch Horror, Ticket to Ride, Carcasonne among many others. You're also welcome to bring any game you want to play! I DON'T KNOW THESE GAMES? IS IT COOL IF I COME? We're very friendly and if you have no idea what the hell we're talking about just trust us when we say it's ton of fun. We'll have tons of games and we're very happy to show you the rules. Speed is a shape (why React is slow)

If we take a step back from flame charts and performance profiles to ask "**what does React need to do**?" we can see that it's not one particular thing that makes your React app slow, it's slow due to React's design. In this talk, we'll walk through the major pieces of how React works, discover that some aren't necessary (if we change its shape a bit), and walk through a frontend framework that takes a different form: one that's smaller, simpler, and shaped for speed. [Sufian Rhazi](https://abstract.properties/) loves a good problem. He's a Principal Engineer at [Cloudflare](https://www.cloudflare.com/), building RUM and synthetic monitoring tools. For over two decades, he's built a career seeking out and working on a variety of programming problems. And every one of them ends up being the same: how to stop making things so complicated. Please review the itinerary below. **12:00pm** ⚠️ **Prompt departure** (we recommend arriving 15 minutes early)⚠️ **2:00pm** **Arrival at Max Bratwurst und Bier**. Here, you can safely store your bike and enjoy a festive atmosphere with delicious German food and drinks. Plus, we have games to play for prizes! This year’s route explores Queens neighborhoods and parks. Bike lanes most of the way with very little elevation. It’s beginner friendly so invite a friend to join you! There are train stations nearby as well as easy access to taxis and ride shares. This event will happen rain or shine and will be postponed in the event of severe weather.
