How to create a city builder game

Project introduction In this tutorial we’ll be creating a playable city builder game with javascript and WebGl. We will start with some basic game concepts, like rendering a dot, and making it perform a random walk around the screen, moving onto more complex ideas, including several meta heuristic algorithms commonly used to simulate behaviors such as traffic, distribution of wealth among citizens, and their consumption of various resources such as food, water, and power. A few examples of these algorithims are Ant Colony Optimization Algorithms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant_colony_optimization_algorithms) The code its self will only be lightly covered, though if you follow along (or download the source code at the provided link), it will run. More fundamentally I will be explaining the core logical components involved in creating a simulation style game. I will be writing most parts of the tutorial in a compile to JavaScript language called sibilant (https://sibilant.org/), because this is what I find makes me the most productive. This language sticks to javascript semantics in most places, but with a different syntax. I will frequently be showing the outputted JS to make sure no one gets lost in syntax though. This being the case, I encourage you to follow along with what ever language you feel most comfortable with, if you want to. here is a link to a list of several popular ones that exist. https://github.com/jashkenas/coffeescript/wiki/list-of-languages-that-compile-to-js What are the requirements? In order to get the most out of this tutorial, you should have at least: a basic understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Intermediate to "complete" understanding of at least one programming language, regardless of if that is js or some other. an intermediate to advanced understanding of Object Oriented Programming, You know what a method is. An understanding of the fundementals of Functional programming You know what it means to "map" somthing from one type to another. know of the basics of linear algebra you know what a matrix is, and know the basics operations one can take on a matrix. Willingness and desire to learn What is the target audience? We're catered primarily to Spanish & English speakers but may expand to other languages in the future. If you've wanted to travel abroad and speak Spanish fluently or are a native Spanish speaker looking to improve your English, this group is for you! WE WALK THE PRESIDIO FROM THE NORTH TO THE SOUTH & BACK

We will visit next a part of the Presidio that we may have only visited once. This walk is very special because we will start at the Northern part of the Presidio as we usually do, but we will head South to see special things such as Redwood trees, great views at Inspiration Point and wild animals such as cyotes. Also, we will visit the historic Presidio Officers' Club, which is one of the 2 largest free museums in the Presidio. We will gather at 11:00 AM in front of the Presidio's Transit Center at 215 Graham Street. We will end back at our starting point a little before 4:00 PM. The only cost is $5 cash per adult, kids always free. The $5 is collected at the middle of the walk. Attendance Max = 60. One guest is allowed per member if put on the RSVP. For most attendees the best way to get there is to take the free PresidiGo bus. It will leave the bus stop on Drumm Street in front of the Hyatt Regency near Market Street at 10:32 AM and arrive at our starting point, a little before 11:00 AM. The bus will stop to pick up passengers at other stops along the way. We may have to sit on the grass for lunch because we don't know how crowded the area will be Saturday. After lunch we will explore other parts of the Presidio such as Inspiration Point. We will be sure to get back to the Presidio's Transit Center before 4:00 PM because the PresidiGo bus going back to downtown SF will be leaving at 4:00 PM. These buses leave exactly one hour apart on the hour.
