Tuesday Spanish meetp in Rocksia Hotel

Dear members, For those who live in the St George area or who are willing to travel down, we are opening another language exchange event on Wednesday at the beautiful Rocksia Hotel, https://rocksiahotel.com.au/ (3 min walking from the Banksia station), which is a laid-back place with modern décor and contemporary furnishings throughout. Boasting two separate kitchens – the bistro and Lola’s Kitchen, they have happy hour between 4 pm and 6 pm every weekday. So arrive a little early to get a happy hour drink to start the night. If you feel like practicing Spanish or English, or just want to broaden your personal network over a few drinks, this would be a perfect place to do so, meet new friends, and hang out in a relaxed and casual environment. WHALE DAY! Bondi Junction - Watsons Bay! 14KM Medium

We meet at **Bondi Junction Train Station, at Bus Stand F (easy to find)** by no later than **10:30AM** to commence our walk down to Bondi Beach. We check out Ben Buckler Point and a host of parks spread through Dover Heights and head through to **Watsons Bay** for lunch and clean bathrooms. **FOOD SHOPS AT LUNCH BREAK, BUT IT CAN GET BUSY SO MAYBE BRING A PACKED LUNCH.** We climb out of Watsons Bay via the Bluff walking track and skirt around **Naval Warfare Training Base Watson** to find South Head and the historic **Hornby Lighthouse**. Medium-Hard: uneven surfaces, need to take extreme care and be hike fit. Few get out points. Swimming Holes Royal NP! Waterfall to Uloola Falls, Karloo & Olympic Pools

This walk takes us from Waterfall to Uloola falls, Karloo pool and then to Olympic pool. **We will start at Waterfall Train Station (exit train station and turn left until you get to the drop-off area) at 9.15am. **From here we will follow the Uloola Fire Trail for about 5kms to Uloola Falls, where we stop for a snack and I will show you a secret swimming hole with little waterfalls. We will then follow the Karloo Track for 3 kms to Karloo Pools ,where we will have lunch.Then we will follow Kangaroo Creek to Olympic pool. We will head to Heathcote Train Station via the Bottle Forest track. We will arrive at Heathcote train station by 3.30 pm. **DISTANCE: About 14 km.** GRADE: Medium, there are a few hills to climb. Migrating Whales Lookouts All the Way from Watson’s Bay to Maroubra Beach!

**This walk will take us on the coast along some ocean front scenery that is absolutely stunning.** **We will be able to stop at many places to lookout for migrating humpback whales.** **There are plenty of exit points so it’s perfect for anyone who is not sure how far they will be able to walk.** **We will start at Circular Quay, Wharf 2.** **The ferry to Watson’s Bay leaves at 9.15am sharp (don't be late or you'll miss it!) and arrives at Watson's Bay at 9.38am.** **From Watson’s Bay we start our walk along the Coastal Clifftop Walkway, to Diamond Bay and Dover Heights before descending to North Bondi.** **Then onto Bondi Beach, Tamarama Beach (or as it’s referred to by the locals, Glamourama Beach) and Bronte Beach, where we stop for lunch.** **After lunch, we keep going to Clovelly Beach and Coogee Beach after that.** **We will stop at Mistral Point for a quick rest before making our way to Maroubra Beach.** **We will aim to finish at Maroubra Beach by 4pm, maybe 4.30pm if we linger a bit watching whales, from which we can go for a drink at Maroubra Seals or catch a bus back to the city.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: About 16 kms.** **GRADE: Medium.** **NOTE: Many exit options along the way. Whale Watching: Watsons Bay to Maroubra!!! 18km Medium

**Whale Watching Day!!! Watson’s Bay to Maroubra 18 km (Medium)** We ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay and commence our walk out of South Head, and along the Federation walk, navigating Diamond Bay and Dover Heights before dropping down to North Bondi. Leaving Bondi Beach behind, we strike out for Tamarrama and Bronte, where we stop for a nice lunch break of 45 minutes. Following lunch we head for Maroubra via Clovelly and Coogee Beaches. We stop at Mistral Point before marching into Maroubra where we will invade the Maroubra Seals Club for a tasty beer (and food if desired - its pretty tasty, I have to say!), before grabbing a bus back to the City. The ocean front scenery on this walk is stunning! Hopefully we will spot **Humpback whales** during the day; it is likely that we will. We should arrive at Maroubra by about 4:30pm. Please **bring photo ID**, to gain entrance to the Maroubra Seals Club. **Distance:** 18 km **Type of Walk:** Almost the entire walk is along ocean front promenades. **Difficulty:** Medium, because of the distance. If you are unsure about the distance but would like to test yourself this is a walk for you: there are plenty of get-out points. **Walking Pace:** We will average 4.5 km per hour. **Meeting Place and Transport:** We catch the Watsons Bay Ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 2. The Ferry leaves Circular Quay at 9:45 am and arrives at Watsons Bay at 10:08am.
