Bring a poem, journal entry, story, lyrics, letter, or any piece of writing you’d like to share. It might be something you’ve always wanted to read aloud or share but never quite found the right space for. Maybe it’s deeply personal. Maybe it’s dark, funny, messy, intense, embarrassing, provocative, or unfinished. Whatever it is, this is a space where the focus is on honesty and expression. When you arrive, you’ll place your writing into a hat anonymously. Everyone will then draw a piece at random and read someone else’s work aloud. Your words get to be heard without the pressure of standing up and claiming them as your own. This is a participant-focused event. Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring a piece of writing and take part in the anonymous readings. The idea is that we’re all readers, writers, and supporters of one another. As the community grows, we may open future events to spectators, but for now I’d love everyone to participate.

Catamaran sailing Lake Macquarie (camping caravan park)

Enjoy pretty Lake Macquarie (2 hours from Sydney) while zipping along on our catamarans and getting a good introduction to sailing. More exciting than being on a yacht ! We have 18-foot, 16-foot and 14-foot catamarans. No experience is required. Come for either the weekend or a day (we recommend coming for the weekend). If so, are you prepared to give others lifts ? * If you don't have your own transport, what suburb do you live in ? * Contact phone number. * Do you have a tent ? We can hire but you must have your own sleeping bag. * Can you swim (we wear lifejackets but cannot take non-swimmers) * Are you reasonably agile ? We don’t need super athletes, but you are sitting on a flat deck (not a seat) and you need to be able to move 3 metres to the other side of the boat at reasonable speed. A simple test is whether you can lie flat on a carpet and stand up within 4 seconds without using furniture. * We cannot take people weighing more than 95 kg (even if agile). COST: Sailing fee $70 (weekend); $40 (day), camping $26, lift $15, tent hire $10. You need your own sleeping bag. This is a group event and requires people to be on time to assist in rigging boats. If coming Saturday, arrive by 10:00 am ready for the outdoors. If coming for the day only be prepared to stay until 6pm. For Sunday, be prepared to arrive by 9am and stay until 5pm. Camping is at a caravan park with facilities. We are a long-established sailing group run by the YHA. We hold sailing weekends every 4 weeks. NO SAILING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Catamaran sailing is a fun and exciting way to experience the water, as the boats zip along in the wind. The boats are easy to sail and offer a good opportunity for anyone who wants to learn or experience sailing by getting some practice on either handling the jib, trapezing (hanging out the side of the boat on a harness) or skippering. We are not a "racing" group, we just like to be on the water and away from Sydney for a weekend, taking it easy.

🌅 Weekend Sunset Bushwalk - N Sydney to Crows Nest ~11 km

Join us for an evening of **harbour** **sunset bushwalk, covering around 11 kilometres through streets, parks, and reserves, showcasing some of the North Shore's scenic sights.** Be aware that this 2.5-hour moderate-paced walk with brief stops has multiple stairs and inclines, so good fitness is recommended. **Here's what you need to know:** * **Start time:** 4:00 PM sharp, please arrive by 3:50 PM. * **Meeting point:** North Sydney Station, Blue St, Stand C **Finish around 6:30 PM,** Crows Nest, with optional dinner. * **Route:** We’ll start with a street walk to Berry Island, then follow the Gore Creek bushwalk towards Greenwich, continuing along the creek past Bob Campbell Oval. After a short snack break, we’ll head through sections of Lane Cove Bushland Park, before finishing via the streets of St Leonards and Crows Nest, arriving at the metro around 6:30 PM. 🍃 Harbour to Hawkesbury Bushwalk: Spit Bridge to Lindfield (~22km)

Embark on a full-day exploration of Garigal National Park and the stunning Middle Harbour Creek, right here in the city! This challenging trek covers over 22km (map and offline route in TrekMeet), offering an incredible mix of deep bushland, waterside views, and historic sites. Good fitness is essential, as we will maintain a steady pace of around 4km/h with short breaks. Before you RSVP, be sure to read the full description: * **Difficulty and Terrain:** Medium to Hard. Expect mostly rugged bushland and harbourside tracks connected by a few paved streets and reserves, featuring multiple steep elevation gains. * **Start:** 9:00 AM sharp at the Spit West Reserve Bus Stop (please arrive 5-10 minutes early so we can head off on time). **Finish:** Lindfield Station. * **Route:** We will follow the famous Harbour to Hawkesbury track, venturing into Garigal National Park to skirt the scenic edges of Bantry Bay and follow Middle Harbour Creek. BECAUSE I TEACH TO FIND ONGOING CREW MY REQUIREMENTS ARE MAX WEIGHT 70kg up to 40yrs of age On any sailing day, there may also be my regular crew or people I have introduced through the Facebook Crew Finder and my self. However, my small yacht never carries more than 6 in total. If the event is full make sure you join the wait list I move people around to going if there really keen and learning well or if someone drops out 1. AS IM LOOKING FOR GENUINE PEOPLE WANTING TO LEARN HOW TO SAIL WHICH WILL TAKE SOME MONTHS PREFER PEOPLE STAYING IN SYDNEY AT LEAST 12 MONTHS EVEN BETTER IF YOU LIVE HERE 2. IF YOUR NOT COMING TO LEARN GO ON A FERRYTHIS ISNT A ONE DAY SIGHT SEEING TRIP 3. For safety reasons, you must be able to SWIM OR AT LEAST FLOAT and be comfortable on water. 4. ITS VERY SELDOM SOMEONE WOULD FALL IN ONE IN FORTY YEARS. 5. 5,Also for safety reasons, you must be able to understand and speak English to enable you to react quickly to a whole new vocabulary of words that you will need to learn Unfortunately I need to make decisions that are best for my boat as, when racing, I only carry a crew of 4, who MUST be fit and agile. This is vital to enable you to move quickly around a small yacht when it heels (leans over) as much as 30 degrees and be ready to sit with your legs over the rail after tacking (changing course). My yacht wins in most seasons and I'm extremely competitive. We DO NOT carry crew who just sit on the rail, and you must be willing to work as a team. **PLEASE REMEMBER YOU’RE COMING TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO SAIL SO I NEED TO POINT OUT A FEW THINGS FOR SAFETY REASONS** 1. Wear clothes suitable for sailing – MOST IMPORTANT – rubber, soft-soled shoes with good grip. NO THONGS OR BARE FEET! 2. If you have long hair, TIE IT UP 3. Glasses and hats need to be tied with cord or similar – I’ve seen so many disappear overboard. 4. If you have sailing or gym gloves, bring them to protect hands from rope burn. 5. 5 Strong advice - please remove rings from fingers, and super-long nails really hurt when bent or caught 6.If your a poor swimmer i suggest you obtain a life jacket i have life jackets on board in case of a emergency but the are bulky and hard to move in
