Enjoy pretty Lake Macquarie (2 hours from Sydney) while zipping along on our catamarans and getting a good introduction to sailing. More exciting than being on a yacht ! We have 18-foot, 16-foot and 14-foot catamarans. No experience is required. Come for either the weekend or a day (we recommend coming for the weekend). If so, are you prepared to give others lifts ? * If you don't have your own transport, what suburb do you live in ? * Contact phone number. * Do you have a tent ? We can hire but you must have your own sleeping bag. * Can you swim (we wear lifejackets but cannot take non-swimmers) * Are you reasonably agile ? We don’t need super athletes, but you are sitting on a flat deck (not a seat) and you need to be able to move 3 metres to the other side of the boat at reasonable speed. A simple test is whether you can lie flat on a carpet and stand up within 4 seconds without using furniture. * We cannot take people weighing more than 95 kg (even if agile). COST: Sailing fee $70 (weekend); $40 (day), camping $26, lift $15, tent hire $10. You need your own sleeping bag. This is a group event and requires people to be on time to assist in rigging boats. If coming Saturday, arrive by 10:00 am ready for the outdoors. If coming for the day only be prepared to stay until 6pm. For Sunday, be prepared to arrive by 9am and stay until 5pm. Camping is at a caravan park with facilities. We are a long-established sailing group run by the YHA. We hold sailing weekends every 4 weeks. NO SAILING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Catamaran sailing is a fun and exciting way to experience the water, as the boats zip along in the wind. The boats are easy to sail and offer a good opportunity for anyone who wants to learn or experience sailing by getting some practice on either handling the jib, trapezing (hanging out the side of the boat on a harness) or skippering. We are not a "racing" group, we just like to be on the water and away from Sydney for a weekend, taking it easy.

Embark on a full-day exploration of Garigal National Park and the stunning Middle Harbour Creek, right here in the city! This challenging trek covers over 22km (map and offline route in TrekMeet), offering an incredible mix of deep bushland, waterside views, and historic sites. However, my small yacht never carries more than 6 in total. If the event is full make sure you join the wait list I move people around to going if there really keen and learning well or if someone drops out 1. AS IM LOOKING FOR GENUINE PEOPLE WANTING TO LEARN HOW TO SAIL WHICH WILL TAKE SOME MONTHS PREFER PEOPLE STAYING IN SYDNEY AT LEAST 12 MONTHS EVEN BETTER IF YOU LIVE HERE 2. IF YOUR NOT COMING TO LEARN GO ON A FERRYTHIS ISNT A ONE DAY SIGHT SEEING TRIP 3. For safety reasons, you must be able to SWIM OR AT LEAST FLOAT and be comfortable on water. 4. ITS VERY SELDOM SOMEONE WOULD FALL IN ONE IN FORTY YEARS. 5. 5,Also for safety reasons, you must be able to understand and speak English to enable you to react quickly to a whole new vocabulary of words that you will need to learn Unfortunately I need to make decisions that are best for my boat as, when racing, I only carry a crew of 4, who MUST be fit and agile. This is vital to enable you to move quickly around a small yacht when it heels (leans over) as much as 30 degrees and be ready to sit with your legs over the rail after tacking (changing course). My yacht wins in most seasons and I'm extremely competitive. We DO NOT carry crew who just sit on the rail, and you must be willing to work as a team. **PLEASE REMEMBER YOU’RE COMING TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO SAIL SO I NEED TO POINT OUT A FEW THINGS FOR SAFETY REASONS** 1. Wear clothes suitable for sailing – MOST IMPORTANT – rubber, soft-soled shoes with good grip. NO THONGS OR BARE FEET! 2. If you have long hair, TIE IT UP 3. Glasses and hats need to be tied with cord or similar – I’ve seen so many disappear overboard. 4. If you have sailing or gym gloves, bring them to protect hands from rope burn. 5. 5 Strong advice - please remove rings from fingers, and super-long nails really hurt when bent or caught 6.If your a poor swimmer i suggest you obtain a life jacket i have life jackets on board in case of a emergency but the are bulky and hard to move in

Northern Beaches; Manly to Dee Why via Curl Curl

A spectacular coastal walk from Manly Wharf to Dee Why. Have some lunch in Manly, before you start the walk. Once we Blast Off, we will walk through the Manly Corso and continue along the beach as we head north towards Queenscliff. There are many water stations and toilets on the this beautiful coastal walk, which includes, bitumen, concrete, boardwalks & dirt, just to mix it up. We will walk on a boardwalk over the sandstone rocks through Freshwater towards Curl Curl, which has a commanding view over the worlds largest ocean - Pacific Ocean. We will continue around Curl Curl Lagoon, passing the famous statue of Duke Kahanamoku who introduced surfing in Australia, right here at Freshwater Beach. Crossing the main bridge over the lagoon we climb towards the headland. Here we will move towards dirt, higher elevation with lots of steps. We arrive into Dee Why Beach and then continue towards the main bus stop or dinner option. Beautiful Nature and lots of Bird, Tree & Plant Life throughout this walk. Once we arrive Dee Why, you can attend our optional dinner spot with special discounts for meals and drinks as you are a VIP. Start Point: Manly / Finish Point: Dee Why. Distance: 8km (approx.) Please bring; snacks, hat, sunglasses, 2 litres of filtered water but there are many places to fill up. Note: You can pick up a Yummy Dinner in Dee Why, however please advise if you would like to attend dinner as I must pre-book. Transport Option's; Ferry, Bus or Car to Starting Point. Free Outdoor Boxing Class — Carlingford

Welcome to another free boxing session! This session is beginner-friendly, but more experienced people are welcome too. **What we’ll do:** * Warm-up * Basic boxing technique * Footwork and movement drills * Pad work * Light boxing-based games (if time allows) * Cool-down **What to bring:** * Water * Sweat towel * Comfortable training clothes * Your own boxing gloves if you have them For pad work, please bring your own boxing gloves. We don’t provide shared gloves for hygiene reasons. If you don’t have gloves yet, you’re still welcome — you can join the non-contact drills, shadowboxing, footwork, and fitness parts of the session. **Important:** No sparring. This is a relaxed, beginner-friendly technique and fitness session. We’ll meet at Murray Farm Reserve. When you arrive, look for the boxing pads/straps. **Weather note:** This is an outdoor session, so if it’s raining or the ground is too wet, I’ll message attendees with an update the day before.
