HASTINGS Country Park Cliff top walk to Three Oaks - a Majestic coastal hike
Sun, Jun 7, 8:15 AMLet's go to the sea and visit the beautiful town of Hastings, its country park, where I will show you some little known stunning views of the sea and the last remaining rain forest of England! And some pretty traditional villages. Hikers are always pleasantly surprised with this trip so even if you are wondering if it is worth it, it really is worth it! On the top of that, it is the beginning of bluebells season and wild garlic and although the carpet won't be at its best yet, there should be some nice patched at the end of the hike so bring your camera! The town gives its name to the Battle of Hastings, which took place 8 mi (13 km) to the north-west at Senlac Hill in 1066. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. In the 19th century, it was a popular seaside resort, as the railway allowed tourists and visitors to reach the town. Today, Hastings is a fishing port with the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet. We will walk the cliff top, beaches and country park, have a trip along a magnificent coastline, in the woods with some views... There will be a few inclines during the first part of the hike, nothing too demanding, and the second part will be easier. After a break at the clifftop cafe we will carry on towards the bluebell forest, not sure how purple it will be as it is the beginning but we had some nice colours last year... As always on my trails, you will have some stunning sceneries and a lovely day out with some funny people at a relaxing pace. No rushing, just the enjoyment of the day surrounded by nature and history. Afterwards, we will take the train back to Hastings where you can either join me for a drink or a meal or change for the train back to London. NEW HIKE The 3 castles walk, a splash of green in the English countryside.
Sat, Jun 20, 7:40 AMHey, hey, hey! Spring is here and what do we do in the Spring? We walk in the great British countryside that will be filled with colours, poesy and scents. A romantic glow will surround us along the path through various historical buildings and glorious forests. The hike will take you through magical woodlands and countryside and no less than 3 castles! What else can we do but walk through haunted woods and castle grounds. You will hike from Leigh to Hever, through the medieval village of Penshurst, some pretty woodlands, you will walk past Penshurts castle and Chiddinstone castle and will end the trip with a visit of the world famous Hever Castle, former home of Anne Boleyn, if you fancy who still haunt the royal residence... creepy... The castle dates back to the 14th century, and was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth I. It formed the unlikely backdrop to a sequence of tumultuous events that changed the course of Britain’s history, monarchy and religion. Yes, Hever Castle is widely reported as being haunted, most notably by the ghost of Anne Boleyn, who is said to walk the grounds, particularly on Christmas Eve, over the bridge on the river Eden, and manifest in the castle. However, there are also reports of other entities, such as a menacing figure in the bedrooms, a mischievous poltergeist, and other unexplained phenomena like feelings of a presence and strange odors. The castle is a wonder of architecture and history with its own little medieval village. You will be given the opportunity to visit the castle and its gardens (entry is £25), or to be taken back to the station if you prefer. This is a jewel not to be missed! Attention, if you decide to visit, you will make your own way back to the station. Afterwards, as always, we can pop into a pub or a restaurant for a cheeky drink or a nice meal or simply head back to good old London. INFORMATION: MEETING POINT: London Victoria rail station at 08:40am(The station might change so please check your inbox for more info and the link to the Whatsapp group.) DISTANCE: 8miles/12km (about 4 hours with a break+ the visit of the castle) PRICE: £15 for the guide's fee INCLUDED: \- Guide fee \- Paypal fees \- Meetup fees NOT INCLUDED: -Transport via train: About £15 return -Visit of Hever Castle and gardens if you wish to visit(£23 for basic, cheaper for concessions) -Anything not mentioned above REFUNDS: \- Refunds are only possible up to 14 days before departure\.
