Hello fellow gamers and photographers! **Headshots: Photo Shoot-out** is a free-style celebration of our love for putting things into frame! Bring your camera (any camera!) and your creative eye! Each of us will act as subjects for each other, offer creative direction, and explore the insight and motivations we all bring to the table. This is a safe place for creatives to learn and experiment. Now, let's capture the moment! **Models and Subjects Welcome!** Looking for an opportunity to get some new self portraits or headshots? Got a new outfit you want to capture your best side in? Do you have inspiration and just need some one to capture it? If you're willing to get experimental, you are welcome to join this creative session, no camera required. **Lighting Gear Available** The host possesses a small array of amateur lighting gear for both studio and outdoor use, free to use by any one participating. Participants are welcome to bring their own gear if they are comfortable doing so. **Multiple Locations** The rooftop is the best place to get a cool snap of the LA skyline and catch those dreamy rays during golden hour but there is also a small studio available if the majority of participants prefer a controlled lighting environment. Tell us when you arrive and we can plan ahead for the next Headshots event! **Privacy** Though we volunteer to be subjects for each other, all subjects have the right to request any photo of them be deleted or transferred to them. Photographers are expected to cooperate with these requests if they happen. Students will learn to observe and record the human head in clay using sight sizing and comparative measuring techniques to build a head from profile to fully rendered face, neck and base. Techniques like the following will be applied: \- Learning how to draw in space \- take notes on the sculpture itself \- and get comfortable with the medium on a basic level in order to form a strong foundation from which to build upon\. This class will teach students how to quickly and efficiently construct a portrait bust in clay with the possibility of casting it in Plaster, Resin or even bronze for those willing. Hello fellow gamers! If you feel like you have been missing that support that pushes you to reach just a little harder, so have we. **Gamers Get Gains** is a gamified fitness event wholly focused on leveling up every participant’s strength, endurance, and mobility, whiles encouraging daily habits that will benefit not only our bodies, but also our mental health. **NO - you do not need to be “in shape” to feel welcome here.** **YES - you can participate no matter what your goals may be.** Health is an undervalued foundation of our daily lives and everyone deserves a chance to be supported at every stage of their journey! **Here is the structure:** There are 3 decks - **Upper Boddy, Lower Body, and Cardio.** The Group must draw 2 cards from each deck in any order. The chosen cards will specify the workout that is to be done together. All workouts are beginner friendly but If the exercise is too challenging or not challenging enough, just try your best or substitute for another similar workout. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need tips on how to modify any workout to best fit your unique needs. This course is primarily focused on painting the head in a convincing, representational manner. Initially, emphasis will be placed on shape and tonal relationships. The class will focus on creating a portrait from the early stages of setup to the finishing strokes. Classes will include a 1.5 hour demo each week, interchanging between grisaille and a full palette painting. After each demo, students will start working on their paintings where Kai will be sharing his tips and tricks on everything he knows, allowing students to gain a level up on their skills, no matter their experience. **What You Will Learn** Sharpening your drawing and value skills. Measuring techniques such as utilization of plumb lines and shape recognition. Reshape your perspectives on painting what you see instead of what you know. Producing a balance of both grisaille monochromatic paintings and full palette painting. How to utilize brush stroke economy. Weekly live demonstrations with a variety of different subjects (will also take requests on a character to paint each week). His unique blend of traditional style with a contemporary twist is a result of two extremes: a formal training in China’s most prestigious art academy, China Central Academy of Fine Arts and intense studies with renowned contemporary painters like Daniel Keys, Tim Rees and Michelle Dunaway in the United States. He is a recipient of the Certificate of Excellence for his painting Ashton in the 20th Annual International Portrait Society of America Competition. Kai has had his work exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the US. His work has also been included and published by Poets Artist Magazine and Plein Air Magazine. In 2018, Kai was featured in Southwest Art Magazine's 21 under 31 Article, where he was one of 21 artists under the age of 31 being celebrated as rising art stars from across the West and around the country. LA Chess Social: 10 Year Anniversary Party

**The Los Angeles Chess Social** **TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY** **September 26th, 2026** **None of us can believe that we made it this far! Stronger than ever, we simply must celebrate a decade of lively chess community! Hundreds of events, dozens of venues, scores of live music acts, thousands of friends (leading to four marriages + three kids), and an uncountable amount of chess games later, we have no intention of stopping!** **Whether you are a loyal regular, a new face, or an occasional attendee--- you simply MUST join us for this massive & creative chess event! We rented out a huge space, which will house endless chess matches, as well as everything fun we could think of! Many of the activities and experiences will be a surprise, (of course optional), so you are going to have to attend if you'd like to see!** **That said, we will guarantee a few things. There will be a huge area for social chess, separate rooms for our best live music, the visual and performing arts, and chess challenges! We needed lots of space and multiple rooms/three floors for our possible (optional) blitz tournament and simultaneous exhibitions! Ultimate Werewolf Comedy Show: Comedians vs. the Crowd

Part comedy show. Part social-deduction tournament. Complete chaos. Six professional comedians who have performed at venues including The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and the Laugh Factory will compete across three live games of Ultimate Werewolf alongside volunteers selected from the audience. A few players will secretly be assigned as werewolves. Everyone else must identify them before the werewolves eliminate the entire village. Expect bluffing, accusations, alliances, betrayals, ridiculous defenses, and extremely confident decisions based on almost no information. PLAY OR WATCH Want to play? We save several onstage game spots for audience members who want to come and compete against the comedians. Prefer to watch? That works too. Follow the mystery, root for your favorite players, and try to identify the werewolves from your seat. Audience participation is completely optional, and no previous Werewolf experience is required. The rules will be explained, and each game will be hosted so the action is easy and fun to follow. The comedians will earn points throughout the tournament. The top three will qualify to return for the next show, and the evening’s champion will close the night with a victory stand-up set. The Santa Monica Go Club's 2026 Coffee Cup tournament is on! This is an AGA rated tournament. All skill levels are welcome, but players must have a current (paid-to-date) AGA membership or AGA Tournament Pass to participate. Pre-registration closes on Friday 18 September at 11:59pm. Late registration opens at midnight after pre-registration closes and will remain open through Saturday. First round pairings will be set Friday night.
