RPG One-Shots—Beginners Welcome!

RPG One-Shots—Beginners Welcome!

Thu, Jun 4, 10:00 PM
From NYC Tabletop RPGs
4.9

We welcome everyone interested in role playing games, whether you’ve never picked up a set of dice before or you’ve been running games for 20 years. We work hard to intentionally create a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment to explore new games and old favorites. Bring your co-workers, friends, and partners, too!

We understand that it’s hard to commit to an ongoing RPG. That’s why each of our games concludes in a single session and requires no player prep or ongoing commitment. If you are looking for longer-term games, this is a great group to connect with other players and GMs who are looking for the same.

Each session, we bring several different tabletop RPGs to the table, and the options are different every Meetup! Most of them are indie and small publisher games, though occasionally you might see a game of D&D if there is demand. We've played over 50 different RPGs across more than 30 Meetups and can likely organize a table to run that obscure game you've always wanted to try! If you’re a game designer looking for playtesters, you’ll find a willing table with us. Here are [some of the games](https://airtable.com/appsju3sLuh1jlkwY/shrU8KqBolq6wcw8v/tblD1hw0138xBW7vl) we could potentially run.
Please gather at 6:00 PM to check in. Game selection will begin promptly at 6:15. If you arrive significantly later than that, we will most likely be able to find a game you can join, but there is a small chance there won’t be any open spaces left.

We strive to create an inclusive community and provide a safe space for gaming free of harmful or discriminatory conduct. Here is a link to our Code of Conduct if you'd like to learn a bit more: [http://tinyurl.com/nyctabletopcode](http://tinyurl.com/nyctabletopcode)

We are grateful to Brooklyn Community Pride Center for hosting our group. While many of us are LGBTQIA+, we are not an exclusively LGBTQIA+ group. We are a diverse community of many different genders, sexualities, races, religions, ethnicities, and abilities. All who agree to abide by our Code of Conduct to promote a safe and inclusive space are welcome. BCPC is located in Major R. Owens Health and Wellness Community Center. Join us for a fun-filled evening of dice rolling and tabletop gaming at our Dungeons and Dragons LiC meetup! Strange lights have been seen above the Tower of the Builders and ever since dangrous monsters have excursed from the Forest of Shadows. The environs of the Gemthrone wilderness are also replete with ruins from an ancient age. Their mysteries, treasures and dangers are waiting to be discovered by adventurers who are brave and skilled enough. I will be hosting a tabletop gaming session at Fifth Hammer Brewing, Sunday, July 14th starting at 5pm. We will be playing a table top role playing gsbe using the Shadiedark RPG ,as well as potentially exploring other games and genres in future events. This will be open for all, beginners and experienced players alike. I will provide everything needed to play including dice and pre-gen characters.

Free Intro to DnD Workshop (Saturday, March. 14)

Free Intro to DnD Workshop (Saturday, March. 14)

Sat, Jun 13, 4:00 PM
From NYC Free DND (please be nice)
4.5

How do I create a character? What are the rules of combat, and how does exploration and role-play work? What do I need to bring when I show up to a table? What is the role of the DM vs. the role of the player? How do Ability Scores work? What ARE Ability Scores? For that matter, what is D&D?? If you've been asking yourself any of these questions, then sign up for our Intro to D&D Newbie Workshop, where our team of experienced GMs (game masters) will walk you through the rules of the 5.5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons. We first run your table through a short game with pregenerated characters to get the hang of things, and then pivot to character creation so you get fully equipped to play D&D! The workshop location alternates each month between the Seward Park branch of the New York Public Library and various branches of the Brooklyn Public Library. Our workshops are almost always scheduled on the second Saturday of the month, so if you can't make it this time you can always come to the next one! We also suggest bringing a device that can connect to WiFi so that you can make a free character using the website D&D Beyond: [https://www.dndbeyond.com/](https://www.dndbeyond.com/) D&D Beyond auto-populates a lot of character information and is quicker to use than pen-and-paper, especially for beginner adventurers. **What to bring:** * a set of polyhedral D&D dice (we will have extras if needed) * a pencil and eraser * a character sheet (printed) or a way to access [dndbeyond.com ](dndbeyond.com)(laptop, phone + charger, etc.) **THIS IS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC** We also run a Discord server to organize in-person D&D games in New York City - this is where you can go to find games to join once you've learned how to play: [https://discord.gg/x5mPb452xr](https://discord.gg/x5mPb452xr)
