This is a fun, low-key, rock painting activity. I will supply rocks and paints and some ideas. No pressure. Just your chance to create little pieces of joy that you can leave behind wherever you go. You are welcome to bring other mediums like paper or watercolor paints, etc. if you want to create on/with something else.

Morning Has Broken at Seymour Woods (optional pancakes at Hills Market)

Morning Has Broken at Seymour Woods (optional pancakes at Hills Market)

Six years ago when we were deep into COVID I was leading hikes for HikeOhio. One Saturday morning I scheduled a bright and early hike at Seymour Woods - Morning Has Broken. Ten people were signed up (you remember the limit) and I knew people were looking forward to getting out. Early the morning before my younger sister passed away. She had Down Syndrome and was the purest of souls. I didn't know what to do about the hike but ultimately decided to proceed as people were looking forward to it and I knew time in the woods would be good for me. It was just what I needed. This became the first of an annual event for the groups I have hiked with since then. Morning Has Broken is a hike for people to come and remember their loved ones that have passed, a time to reflect, a time to share, or a time to walk quietly. Seymour Woods is such a tranquil and serene place, quiet, peaceful. The fallen leaves - often a brilliant yellow - are such a calming reminder to me of the cycle of life. We'll go about two miles. It is at your own pace (it's a loop) but definitely not a speed walk. It is flat but I suggest poles as leaf cover is heavy and roots are abundant (this is where I tore my glutes two years ago). Ironically two of the women who were there six years ago have become my dear friends and are now part of this group. It is a relatively brief hike so you have the remainder of your day. Nearby Hills Market has $5 pancakes for anyone who wants to partake.

Busting the Midlife Crisis Myth

Busting the Midlife Crisis Myth

Thu, Nov 12, 10:30 PM
From The What's Next Circle
5.0

**What the research actually says about this stage of life, and why “it’s too late for me” doesn’t hold up.** Somewhere along the way, most of us picked up a story about this stage of life. The best years are behind you. It’s a slow slide from here. If you were going to do something different, you’d have done it by now. It sounds like common sense. It turns out it isn’t. Barbara Bradley Hagerty spent years as an NPR correspondent, and when she reached midlife she did what reporters do: she went looking for the evidence. In *Life Reimagined*, she digs into neuroscience, genetics, and one of the longest-running studies of adult life ever conducted. What she found looks a lot less like a crisis and a lot more like a turning point. In this session, we’ll look at a few of those findings and hold them up against the beliefs about age we’ve been quietly carrying. Not to talk anyone into optimism. Just to check the facts. This isn’t a book club. You don’t need to have read anything. Whether you’ve been with us all season or this is your first time in the room, you’re exactly on time. What to expect: * In person, small group, real conversation * No prep, no homework, no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with * You’ll name one belief about age you’ve been carrying and leave with evidence against it
