Our monthly socials will now kick off with a featured presentation and Q&A, followed by plenty of time to network and continue the conversation. **GIS skills in the age of AI: what still matters for you?** Where is the next generation of GIS talent coming from in Canada, and what are they learning? Join educator and GIS professional Shawn Morgan for a casual conversation about the state of GIS education in Canada, where to find new hires, and how to keep your own skills sharp as the field changes. **Speaker: Shawn Morgan** For nearly 30 years, Shawn has helped organizations around the globe understand and leverage GIS technology. A veteran educator, he has taught for major industry software companies and leading academic institutions, including Fleming College, the Southern African Wildlife College, the University of Waterloo, Conestoga College, and Durham College. Beyond education, Shawn leads SimplyHelp.ca which delivers specialized tech consulting and workshops for municipal, non-profit, and corporate clients, and serves as CTO of a startup developing CurbReserver to optimize automated vehicle traffic in urban areas. **About GoGeomatics:** These events are a great opportunity for students and professionals to connect with the local geomatics community, share ideas, and chat about GIS, data, remote sensing, surveying and more, in a casual welcoming atmosphere.

November's Book: Wild Dark Shore

Sunday Nature Leisure Walk in Port Credit (Walk, Talk and Flock)

Hello everyone, **\*\*Kindly Read Carefully\*\*** Please join me and my other groups for a great **Saturday in** **Port Credit.** If you have never been; it's a great place to enjoy the sun, the water, the trees, the flowers, grab a coffee, ice cream, go for a leisure walk by the lake and then enjoy a tasty meal. Port Credit is also known for it's live music and dancing too (Event is both indoor and outdoor) I'm going to show us all around Port Credit, play a couple new ice breaker games and then head to a fun restaurant in the main strip of town with a great dinner menu following the walk. \*The walking portion will be roughly 2 hours with some stops along the way; then we will head for dinner and more mingling. This will be a fun day and evening gang! We will meet at **Star Bucks (111 Lake Shore Rd. West) in Port Credit** where you are welcome to grab a beverage or pastry if you like. Do you like s’mores? Maybe you’ve never had a s’mores. Either way this is the place to be for dollar s’mores. But you’ve got to roast the marshmallows over an open fire yourself which is the best part. Not mention you’ll be meeting other people in a social environment. $1 (cash only please) gets you two crackers, a piece of milk chocolate and a marshmallow on a skewer. For those of you who have never made your own or aren’t that skilled I will teach you how. And yes you can have more than one!
