Welcome to Millbrae Amateur Radio Club. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at the Millbrae Library Room A (1 Library Ave, Millbrae, CA 94030) at 6:45pm. We are doing hybrid meetings. Please feel free to drop in at our meeting or contact us for a zoom invitation. Club meetings are open to the general public; and you can learn how to get a license or upgrade. You can also check in on our net that happens on every Thursday evenings except on meeting days at 7:30pm on 146.490 mhz. Please feel free to drop by if you have a Amateur Radio license or not. Join us for an evening dedicated to breathing new life into pieces you love, whether that means using our tools to repair your pieces, trading items you've outgrown, or donating to support our community. We'll supply the know-how, the tools and libations for a fun-filled evening of up-cycling. Offered monthly at our studio in Berkeley. Please note that not all pieces can be repaired. We will evaluate on a case-by-case basis. Jewelry donations welcome - broken pieces, costume jewelry, we take it all. Used for summer camp and other up-cycling events.

San Francisco Writers Workshop collaborates with our hacker friends to raise funds for everyone's favorite local makerspace: Noisebridge! Several of our best authors will produce stories/poems/word-based constructs. Each will share their literary product with a hacker, who will respond with a device/app/gadget/doohickey inspired by the writing. On the night of the event, audience members will vote for the device that best complements the assigned writer's piece. The winning hacker will receive a prize of dubious value! Expect delicious snackies, and other fun additions: in the past we've included a fun raffle!

## Session 3: Breadboarding the Op-Amp If the transistor is the building block of analog electronics, the **op-amp** is the Swiss Army knife. Op-amps show up everywhere in guitar pedals — as clean boosts, buffers, tone stacks, and the gain stages at the heart of overdrive circuits. The Tube Screamer, the RAT, the LM308-based fuzz variants — all built around op-amps. In this session we'll get hands-on with the op-amp on a breadboard and learn how to put it to work. We'll cover: * **What an op-amp is** — and how it differs from a transistor amplifier * **Biasing** — setting up the op-amp to work with a single-supply voltage, like a 9V battery * **Setting the gain** — using feedback resistors to dial in exactly how much amplification you want * **Building a boost or buffer circuit** — and hearing the difference it makes No prior experience with op-amps needed. If you've been following the series, you already have all the foundation you need — but newcomers are welcome too. Already working on a pedal project? Bring it! Whether you have questions, need a second pair of eyes, or just want to solder alongside others, you're welcome to work on your own build.

**1890 BRYANT STREET STUDIOS** Great models in a great studio in a great building meet every Friday 6-9PM for a drop-in figure drawing session. We supply easels, and drawing boards and horses - bring your own supplies. No solvents please. This group has been going strong since 1977 and just recently lost their home and have relocated with us. **PARKING:** Easy on Friday nights. **PLEASE SHOW UP BEFORE 6PM**: A person is posted at the entrance from 5:30 - 6PM. They go draw at 6PM and after that and door is locked with a phone number sign to call for entry. **OTHER:** There's always coffee and sweets! And great music.

In this beginner-friendly Arduino class, you'll build a colorful light show using an ultrasonic distance sensor and an RGB LED strip. As your hand moves closer and farther away, the lights will react in real time—changing brightness, color, or creating animated effects. It's part science experiment, part magic trick, and part tiny dance party. Along the way you'll learn: * How ultrasonic sensors measure distance * How to connect and control RGB LED strips * Basic Arduino programming concepts * Using sensor data to create interactive projects * How to customize colors and effects to make your project uniquely yours No experience is required.
