Whether you want to swim, work on your tan, stroll along the famous boardwalk, play beach volleyball, or simply relax with your toes in the sand, this is the perfect way to spend a summer day. We'll also have plenty of time to grab some classic Coney Island favorites like hot dogs, fries, ice cream, and other delicious boardwalk treats. 🌭🍦 This meetup is all about meeting new people, making new friends, sharing laughs, and enjoying everything summer has to offer. Join us for a Surf + Beach Party at Rockaway Beach. Whether you're catching your first wave or just ready to ride again, we've got you covered with surf lessons, full gear, and good times all around. After we hit the water, we'll turn up the music and kick back with beach volleyball, drinks, and all the sunshine your weekend needs. We're starting the day at The Standard Biergarten and taking care of transportation, so all you need to do is show up, surf, and celebrate. **EVENT TIMELINE:** 10:00 AM - Meet at The Standard Biergarten 10:30 AM - Depart NYC 11:30 AM - Arrive at Rockaway Beach (67th St) 12:00 PM - Surf Lessons Begin Afternoon - Beach Party: music, volleyball, snacks, and chill 5:15 PM - Depart Rockaway 7:15 PM - Arrive back in NYC *Times subject to change* **WHAT'S INCLUDED:** * Roundtrip Transportation * Surf Lesson with Pro Instructors * Surfboard + All Equipment * Complimentary Water, and other Beverages * **WHAT TO BRING:** * Lunch or extra snacks * Swimwear + towel * Sunscreen and beach essentials * A camera or phone. Summer Friday: Rock the Boat @ Baylander Steel Beach
Fri, Jul 31, 4:45 PM**Let's walk 4 miles up the Hudson to happy hour at [Baylander](https://baylander.nyc/), NYC’s smallest aircraft carrier, docked at 125th Street.** *“Baylander started its service life in 1968 as harbor utility craft YFU-79 during the Vietnam War. It was one of 16 Skilak class lighters that were purchased by the US Navy and used to move men and material around the delta regions there. After the war, it was laid up until 1986 when it was converted into a helicopter landing trainer and renamed Baylander HLT after its home port in Pensacola Bay."* **Meeting time/place:** 12:45 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026 at the USS Maine Monument in Central Park across from Columbus Circle. **Route:** Central Park to the river, then we’ll walk north on the Hudson River Greenway to 125th Street, approximately 4 miles. Please use restrooms in Central Park near our meeting place or in Deutsche Bank Center. We'll also make a restroom stop en route. **Bring:** Hat, sunblock, water. Rockaway Beach Walk & Swim
Sat, Aug 15, 3:00 PMWalk along the Rockaway boardwalk from Beach 116th St. to Beach 57th Street, Arverne, on Saturday, August 15th. Slow pace on flat terrain, about 3.5 miles. Drop-off points with subway access along the walk route. We will have a leisurely lunch and spend time at the beach enjoying the sun, sand, and ocean. After the beach, we will walk back to the subway at Beach 67th St., where the walk will end. If you come by ferry, either wait at the boardwalk on Beach 108th Street or walk to the subway station at Beach 116th Street. Please note: I will not wait for the ferry. BRING: lunch, water, bathing suit, hat, and sunscreen. MEET: 11:00 AM outside the subway station at Beach 116 Street. Take the JFK A-Train to Broad Channel, change for the S-train at Broad Channel or Rockaway Boulevard, and exit the S-train at Beach 116 Street. Please allow ample time to reach Rockaway Beach due to MTA weekend subway service changes. Bathrooms are available in the subway station and nearby on/off boardwalk. Rain cancels, and the walk leader will announce cancellation on Meetup by 8 pm the day before the walk. \*\*Joint walk with Outdoors Club, please RSVP with only one club.
