Ocean Beach Volleyball Meetup is a training-and-play event for players who want to get better, not just jump straight into games. Everyone starts with three short phases of VBX Volleyball training before open play. VBX is a no-net training system that helps players improve faster by giving them more touches, more rallies, and more chances to read, move, pass, set, and attack in game-like situations. After the VBX warm-up and skill-building phases, players move onto the nets for open play. As the group keeps improving, we’ll also set up more courts geared toward doubles play for players who want a faster, more competitive challenge. Whether you’re starting out or looking for a place to play, you’ve landed in the right place. You’re going to meet people who are going to help you get better as well as those who will become long time playing buddies.     You’ll have an opportunity to learn how to get better the fastest way possible - but you’ll have to ask personally - everyone’s different. 😊 Join us whether it’s training, tournaments, or open play!     You may come regularly or every now and then. Play for hours or a short while. You will find volleyball joy that will brighten your weekend or enough to change your life!     Please RSVP to let me know you’re coming BUT note that most players don’t RSVP. There will be 20-30+ players and most of them come around 10:30. I’m at the beach early to help players improve in one or all of three areas - physical, technical, or mental.     Bring what you would normally bring to the beach for a four hour stay. There is a bathroom across the street at the Beach Chalet which opens at 10:00. There are also bathrooms at the Beach Chalet sports field which is a six minute walk or at Safeway which is a five minute walk.     Equipment and all fees associated with putting on this event including creating this MeetUp group is out of pocket. What we'll do: 7 Monday Evenings from 6:15 PM to 10:15 PM with Konrad Dunton August 24 through October 12, 2026 (no class 9/7/2026) In this 7-week sculpting class we will be focusing on the seated figure in clay using an internal armature. Beginning and continuing sculptors are invited to sculpt from a live model independently or with instructional assistance. There will be one long pose for the entire duration of the class. For those interested, we will start with a hands-on demonstration in building an internal armature, which will not require the traditional cutting out of armature, hollowing, and reassembling of parts. This armature type is well suited for seated poses up to 24 inches in height. In addition, instructional help will be offered in anatomy and in sculpting styles and approaches. We will conclude the class by preparing the sculpture for firing it in the kiln. Participants will be responsible for the firing of their piece. There will be an informational handout with the various kiln firing service providers. We will discuss the finishing processes for the sculpture, including the creation of the base and surface treatment (paint, glaze, etc...) of the figure and base. A separate finishing workshop will be offered at another time, for those who would like to complete the sculpture to a gallery show-ready state. Join **Berkeley Saree Club** for a hands-on introduction to the saree and the art of draping. We'll begin with a short introduction to sarees, followed by live draping demonstrations. Then it’s your turn! Participants will have time to practice draping with guidance from our volunteers. **What to expect** * A short introduction to sarees and draping * Live draping demonstrations * Hands-on practice for beginners * Tips and techniques for more experienced saree wearers **What to bring** * If you have a saree you'd like to practice with, please bring it along. * Please **wear or bring a saree petticoat (underskirt)** if you'd like to participate in the hands-on draping session. A fitted, full-length skirt that you can comfortably tuck fabric into can also work. * We will also have a limited number of sarees available for participants to use during the workshop. **No previous saree-draping experience is needed.** This is a **free community workshop**, but space is limited.
