Then, we will dive into **Part 1 of David Deida’s The Way of the Superior Man**. You do not need to have finished it or agree with everything in the book. Come with a passage that stuck with you, an idea you disagreed with, a question you have been wrestling with, or simply some curiosity. We’ll use the book as a starting point to talk about bigger questions: What does it mean to live with purpose? How do you become more grounded and authentic in your relationships? What are you currently trying to figure out in your own life? The goal is not to sit around pretending we have all the answers (because we don't). It is to have the kind of honest conversation that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether you’re single, dating, in a relationship, married, starting over, or anywhere in between, and regardless of your age, you’re welcome. If you’re planning to come, please register through the event page so I know how many people to expect.

NYCYDC - House Cup Monthly Tournament

Welcome to NYCYDC’s Monthly House Cup! This tournament will be conducted in Advanced format and newcomers of all ages and skill levels welcome! Duel Academy has its 3 iconic houses: Obelisk House (Blue) Ra House (Yellow) Slifer House (Red) This tournament will be conducted in an advanced Swiss format. Pairings will be made each round. Wins and Losses are as follows: +500 points per game win +250 points per game loss -100 points per surrender \*if a match has gone on for longer than an hour, both players will lose 500 points and the match will end regardless of who has more LP or if one person has 1 win over the other. Be sure to finish the match quickly! Your goal is to duel against as many people you can to earn points. Your points will carry over to every monthly House Cup tournament. Win or lose, the more you play, the more you earn! Have fun dueling and earning points! Tournament Rules: 1. Be respectful to other duelists. We will not allow or tolerate any form of toxic behavior. 2. Arrive on time! As much as we’d love to duel all day, we have a time limit for our tournaments. 3. No cheating of any kind! If we catch players cheating they will be removed indefinitely. 4. Respect the cards and handle with care. Don’t damage the cards, because you wouldn’t like it if someone else did the same to your cards. 5. Thievery is strictly prohibited. If we catch wind of anyone stealing cards or personal belongings, you will no longer be welcomed. 6. Focus on dueling. We love to have a good time and chat with our fellow friends but respect the duel and do not distract or stray away. 7. Respect the RSVP! If you plan to attend and do not show up then you’re wasting everyone’s time. Always make it known if you are attending or if you cannot attend. 8. Food and drinks are allowed but do not eat during a duel and do not make a mess! 9. Slow play of any kind will result in an immediate loss. We are implementing a 5 minute rule for each players turn and this includes responding to a card or effect. If the timer reaches 0 then you will automatically lose the game (not match unless it’s game 2 or 3) 10. Have fun! Enjoy the game and the presence of other duelists. Let's Play Word Games in Midtown

We play in an indoor public space, the refurbished food court in the Citicorp building, right next to the Lexington Avenue exit of the Lex/51 stop of the E, M, and 6 trains. There are eateries in the food court or you can bring in your own food. We usually sit somewhere between Pesce Lulu and Miznon. Let's play word building games like Quiddler, word cluing games like Phantom Ink, and word listing games like Scattergories. Maybe even a brainy co-op game of Letter Jam. You can comment with what games you will bring or what you hope someone else can bring. **Please note that no new members will be approved on the same day as an event. New members may be approved once the event has concluded and are welcome to sign up for the following event.** Please (required): (1) RSVP BY 1PM ON DAY OF MEETUP. This is a hard deadline. Please do not decide after 1PM to comment (or not) and show up. (2) No guests. Please have your companion join the group and RSVP. NYCYDC - Monthly Competitive Swiss Tournament

Duelists, prepare for battle! NYCYDC presents its own monthly competitive Swiss tournament to give members a feel of what it’s like to partake in locals, Regionals and even YCS! These tournaments are far from casual as duelists will bring their very best and strongest decks to compete. A test of skills and wit, expect a tough competition. These monthly tournaments will follow advanced format rules such as 50 minute matches and double loss time rules. Official tournament start time will be 3:30pm. Arrive early to prepare! Rules: 1. As per tournament rules, you must play 1 deck from start to finish. Switching decks will result in a penalty such as a game loss. Failure to comply will result in a disqualification from the tournament. 2. Arrive on time and be ready for your match! If you are not present for the first 5 minutes of your match you will receive a game loss. After 10 minutes you will receive a match loss. Time is sacred! 3. Sportsmanship and respect is mandatory. If we receive complaints of disrespect and misconduct you will receive a warning. A second offense will result in a disqualification. 4. There will be judge(s) present. Any conflict at during a match or question must be resolved with a judge. 5. Double loss will be applied. If a match winner has not been decided and declared by the end of the timer, both players will receive a double loss. 6. Slow play of any kind will not be tolerated. If you believe your opponent is slow playing, don’t hesitate! Call the judge! A judge will deal with the matter at hand. 7. Focus on your match! No devices should be present unless it’s to count LP! Don’t distract other duelists from their match as well. 8. No backseat dueling or request for assistance! Learn your deck and play on your own! If we catch you asking for advice you will receive a warning. The most important rule of any tournament is to have fun! IMPORTANT: Respect your RSVP! You must RSVP in order to participate. If you show up you’re expected to participate as a player.

Tabletop Game Night

Every Saturday night we run Games With Strangers. Grab a drink or dinner, meet some new people, and learn a new game. Our game expert will teach you our featured games for the night and introduce you to your fellow players. We run games of all levels, from the lightest of the light to the ones that need four hours and a book. Each week we feature two games. Run a kingdom, build a farm, assemble your heroes, or craft the best story, but, whatever you do, come do it with us.
