Feature Game: # Canvas Canvas is a beautiful game about making beautiful paintings. In Canvas, you are a painter competing to win an art contest. What makes it unique is the use of sleeves and transparent cards to create a unique painting. Players start with 3 sleeved background cards and over the course of the game will gain art cards from a central display. Often they will need to pay for the cards they want by placing inspiration tokens on the cards they skip. The end card is always free. On your turn, you will either take an art card and any inspiration on it or make a painting. You can have a maximum of 5 art cards in hand, so if you hit that max you must make a painting. To make a painting you take exactly three of your art cards and arrange them in the order you want. The art cards are transparent apart from some sort of painted element (part of a landscape or an object), a title, and some icons on the bottom. Once arranged you slip them into one of the sleeved background cards creating your art, title and all! You are aiming to have icons showing in a way that scores you the most points. However, some may be covered up unless you place them on top. But then you might be covering other icons you want! You will then score your painting against the 5 scoring objectives. Each one awards a ribbon for each time you achieve that goal. So if a goal requires two triangles and you have four, you would take two ribbons as you have achieved it twice. At the end, the ribbons score points according to the table at the bottom of their goal card. It’s a simple game that perfectly meshes theme and gameplay, in a way not often seen, With its clever use of transparent cards and sleeves it is a winner for showing off the hobby while having a ruddy good time! **Player count:** 1-5 **Time:** 30 minutes **Age:** 14+

Boardgames at The Greyhound, Kew

We’re a small, friendly, long-running group (we've been going since around 2012) that meets upstairs at the Greyhound every Monday, playing **medium-to-heavy games** from 7:00pm (prompt) to around 10:30pm (or until the final victory points are counted). Think less Ticket to Ride, more Ark Nova / Dune Imperium / Great Western Trail end of the spectrum. Newcomers are welcome and there are no charges or entrance fees but we do ask that you support the pub by buying drinks and/or food from the bar as they kindly allow us to use the upstairs room without charge. We **meet shortly before 7pm** in the upstairs room (the stairs are behind the bar). The upstairs room is a lovely venue: plenty of table space, good lighting, and we’ve been established there since 2020. The pub has recently changed owners, but the new management is happy for us to continue and even throws in a **20% food discount**. The pub currently stays open until around 10.30pm on Mondays. Parking is free around Kew Green on Monday evenings, except on Event nights. Public transport via Kew station or the many buses that run through Kew Green is convenient also. We also run a **WhatsApp chat group** for members to chat, we will add you to the WhatsApp group when you attend and enjoy the first evening. Feel free to bring games, there is usually a good selection on offer from the regular attendees. We also have a BGG guild [BGG](https://boardgamegeek.com/guild/1140), which is mostly in legacy mode at this point, but the older posts should give you a decent snapshot of our meta and the kinds of games that hit the table. Looking forward to rolling some dice, shuffling some decks, and arguing politely about rules interpretations.

Come and play board games Join us for tabletop board and card games. Thursday nights are aimed at those with some experience of modern boardgames, and we tend to play more complicated games - anyone who is completely new, or mainly interested in olaying lighter games, should try to come on Mondays. We always try to make sure that someone is happy to teach the games and welcome new people on the night, so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with. Please arrive by 18:45 in time for everyone to get into groups and chat for the main games to start at 19:00. Come and play board games! We play all types of games on a Wednesday night, ranging from social deduction and lighter games to heavy euros and complex strategy titles. Beginners are very welcome, we'd love to see you! We'll always welcome you on the night and make sure we get you into a game, and we have plenty of players on hand happy to teach the rules to different games - so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with. We don't charge for attending the Meetup, but you will need to pay the Ludoquist's game session fee of £8 per person (unless you have a Gold or VIP [membership](https://www.theludoquist.com/collections/membership-2022)). We start arriving from 6.30pm if anyone wants to join early for short games and chat - please do try to arrive by 6.50pm, so we have time to discuss who'd like to play what, in time for the main games to start at 7pm.
