Art Meets Science: EMERGENCE[Y] Exhibition at Science Gallery Melbourne

Join me for a relaxed Saturday morning wander through **EMERGENCE[Y]**, Science Gallery Melbourne's latest free exhibition. It brings together artists, scientists and collaborators from around the world to explore how we adapt to a world in flux — from the regenerative promise of stem cells to the movement of Martian winds. Think regenerative coral soundscapes, fungal fashion, First Nations knowledge of the Birrarung and a vertical city farm, all under one roof. We'll meet at 11am outside the gates of Science Gallery Melbourne, say hello, then head inside together to explore at an easy pace. There's no set tour — we'll drift through the exhibits, chat about what stands out, and enjoy the space as a group. As a bonus, local artist Dylan Martorell's **Wild Circuits** installation is on that day, bringing the junkyard to life with interactive sound sculptures made from upcycled objects and robotics. Just so it's clear: this is a casual social meetup arranged so we can go along together — it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Science Gallery Melbourne. The Gothic Bank

Have a browse of the museum, explore and sketch in the historic gothic bank. "Considered the finest secular Gothic-Revival building in Australia, this building was completed in 1887 and is renowned for the splendour of its interior. Today, it is the headquarters of the ANZ World Headquarters and home to the ANZ Banking Museum, which tells the story of Australia's banking heritage through displays of currency, money boxes, office machines, firearms, gold-mining equipment and uniforms. Originally erected as the head office of the English, Scottish and Australian Bank, the top two floors were the residence of George Verdon, general manager of the bank. The bank expanded in 1922 to occupy adjacent buildings on both streets. In 1990, all three buildings were extensively restored."

Sketching at Bundoora Homestead

Hey Guys, For this event, we'll be sketching at Bundoora Homestead. A Queen Anne Federation styled, heritage home built in 1900 on Wurundjeri grounds by John Matthews and Vincent Smith. The property had previously served as a family home and repatriation facility before being refurbished as a public gallery in 2001. **Meetup Details:** We'll be meeting at the centre entrance at **11:00am** before making our way to the Cafe (adjacent to the exhibition entrance.) I've booked a table for 11 people. You guys can chill, draw, have something to eat/drink, and soak in the view of the Mansion gardens before viewing the exhibition upstairs. Or if you want, do it the other way around. *If you're looking to eat something substantial, I highly recommend having lunch beforehand as the cafe only serves light refreshments* **Public Transport and Parking:** **Route 86 tram** You can get off either at **Mt Cooper Dr** or **Greenwood Dr** to get to the homestead. **Mt Cooper Dr** (quicker route in my opinion) * Turn **Right onto Mt Cooper Dr** * Turn **Left at Boadle Rd** * Turn **Right on JV Smith Street (no through Road)** * **Walk Right on Snake Gully Dr** till you see a **wooden gate**, the main entrance is accessible from there. **Greenwood Dr:** * Turn Right onto Greenwood Dr and continue straight down the pathway near the cricket grounds till you see the homestead. **Parking:** * Parking is located directly in front of the venue and it's free :) Looking forward to meeting you guys there :)

We don't have to drive far and you can catch public transport to get to our starting point, do the walk and catch a tram back to the starting point. A wonderful walk along the Merri Creek Trail that starts and ends at tram stops. The walk includes some hidden gems as well as a good away of birdlife, the result of many years of replanting indigenous vegetation. The walk covers about a third of the Merri Creek Trail (the total trail is about 21km from Dights Falls to the Western Ring Road). We will be doing only **8km** for this event. It has ben mapped so you can get to the starting point of the walk by tram and we will finish at a tram stop - so you only need to walk in one direction. The walk will be close to public transport so if anyone decides to leave during the walk, you can catch a tram back to the starting point yourself. We will start from the corner of Miller St/St Georges Rd, Fitzroy north and finish at Carr St/Sydney Rd, Coburg North. Join me for a relaxed day of science, curiosity and good company at **Science On Show**, Melbourne Museum's annual celebration of National Science Week. For one day only, the Museum opens up its collections and the scientists behind them — think rare specimens, hands-on displays, pop-up talks and live quizzes. We'll meet outside the main gates at 9:30am, head in together to scan our tickets, then explore the program at our own pace. There's loads on: meet the experts behind the collections, get hands-on with meteorites and cell counters, catch talks on everything from blue whales and dinosaurs to volcanoes and platypuses, and drop in on the Discovery Stage for quizzes, storytime and demonstrations throughout the day. There's no set route — some of us may stick together, others will wander off to whatever sparks their interest and meet back up along the way. Come for an hour or make a full day of it.
