Melbourne Canvas and Community Collaborative Sessions

The Melbourne Canvas and Community Collaborative Sessions are all about getting away from the pressure of making something perfect and just enjoying the process of creating alongside others. We hold these sessions for anyone in the Beginner Artists Society who wants a relaxed, low-stakes environment to work on their projects, swap ideas, or simply enjoy the company of fellow hobbyists. Whether you are picking up a brush for the first time or are just looking for a regular space to get some practice in, you will find a welcoming group here. We provide a casual, quiet space where you can bring whatever you are currently working on. It is a collaborative atmosphere, so feel free to ask for feedback, share tips, or just keep to yourself and paint. The goal is to build a steady community of local artists who can support each other's progress over time. If you have been looking for a reason to set aside a few hours for your own creativity, we would love to have you join us. Please RSVP if you can make it so we can keep track of numbers for the space.

East Melbourne Canvas Connections Collaborative Art Jam

We are hosting an afternoon of low-pressure creativity at our next East Melbourne Canvas Connections event. This is a space designed for those who want to pick up a brush or pencil without the weight of expectations. Whether you have never painted before or are just looking for a friendly environment to spend a few hours working on a project, you will find a welcoming group here. We provide the setting and the company; you just need to bring whatever materials you feel like using on the day. The session is meant to be casual and collaborative, giving us all a chance to share tips, chat, or simply enjoy the quiet focus of making art alongside others. It is open to anyone in the Beginner Artists Society who wants to get out of the house and put some time into their craft. We are keeping it simple, focusing on the process rather than the final result. If you are planning to join us, please let us know by clicking the RSVP button so we can get an idea of how many chairs we need to set up.

North Melbourne Canvas Connections Creative Collaboration Circle

The session is open to anyone who identifies as a beginner and is looking for a consistent time and place to sit down and create. There is no formal instruction or strict agenda; instead, we focus on providing a quiet, supportive atmosphere where you can experiment with your medium, exchange tips, and simply focus on the process. Bring whatever materials you are currently working with and join us for a productive afternoon. If you have been meaning to prioritize your creative practice but struggle to find the time at home, please consider joining us this time around. We would love to see what you are working on, so please RSVP if you can make it so we know how many chairs to set up.

Photographing the Male Workshop

Mandala Symbolism: Personal Mandala Drawing Sessions

‘*Mandalas have been used as an aid to contemplation and meditation by various cultures all over the world for over five thousand years. The word ‘mandala’ comes from the Sanskrit word for ‘sacred or magic circle’ and represents symbolic drawing inside a circle.’* Georgina Fode Join Art Therapist and Theosophist Nina Mazurek on the first Thursday of each month for an hour of hands-on mandala work - a Melbourne Theosophical tradition first established by Georgina Fode. Within a safely held and respectful space, each attendee will be guided to create an oil crayon mandala at their own pace, in response to a chosen topic and preceded by a ‘remember who you are’ meditation. Each class will be a nurturing opportunity to explore our inner yearnings for wholeness and containment, that may help to propel self-healing and enable further understanding of the self. Drawing ability is not necessary. People with all levels of drawing skills, including those who think they can not draw at all, will benefit and progress through this work, producing mandalas with deep personal meaning; reflections of their inner journeys’ progress. Accept your mandala with love – as a gift from your unconscious. **Nina Mazurek** is an experienced presenter and workshop facilitator who has been offering beautiful creative healing services at the Melbourne Theosophical Society for over 20 years. The MTS is committed to providing events that align with and further The three objects of The Theosophical Society: * To form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity, without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour. * To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science. * To investigate unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in the human being.
