๐ THE PATH, CIBC SQUARE & WATERFRONT SUMMER EVENING WALK! ๐
Thu, Aug 6, 10:30 PM# ๐THE PATH, CIBC SQUARE & WATERFRONT SUMMER EVENING WALK! ๐ **Escape the Heat, Explore Toronto's Underground City & End the Night by the Lake** When Toronto gets hot, the smartest place to explore isn't always outside. Join us for a summer evening adventure through **PATH**, Toronto's incredible underground city โ a 30-kilometre network of tunnels, office towers, shopping, food courts, and hidden passageways connecting more than 70 downtown buildings. We'll spend much of the evening enjoying the cool, air-conditioned spaces before making our way to one of Toronto's newest public spaces: **CIBC Square Park**, an elevated urban park built above the railway tracks with incredible views of the city. To finish the evening, we'll head down to Toronto's beautiful waterfront where those who would like can grab a **BeaverTail**, relax by the lake, and enjoy one of the best summer evenings the city has to offer. This isn't a historical tour. It's a social walk, an urban adventure, and a great excuse to escape the summer heat while discovering parts of downtown many people have never seen. ๐ฒ **Join Our WhatsApp Group:**[ Click here to join](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DRFTkxRlHS4B3IL1lMleUd) *** ## ๐ถโโ๏ธ What We'll Do We'll begin at **Wellesley Subway Station** before making our way west and then south toward the PATH system. From there we'll visit **CIBC Square Park**, Toronto's beautiful new elevated park built above the rail corridor, offering spectacular views over Union Station and the surrounding skyline. Finally we'll stroll down to the waterfront where we'll relax beside Lake Ontario. If you'd like, we'll grab a BeaverTail and spend a little time enjoying the evening before heading home. Expect about **2ยฝ to 3 hours** of walking at a comfortable social pace. *** ## โ๏ธ Weather & Expectations This walk happens rain or shine. New topics and fascinating stories abound! Join me, and uncover the world and keep active, warm and cool during the winter and summer months! I started this walking classroom when we were under that horrible cloud called Covid. This series was popular and helped people get back into society and life. The "Lecture on the Go" Series is open to members who have purchased the YEARLY MEMBERSHIP PASS, it's free for those members. If you wish to attend a lecture and you are not a yearly pass member then the price **per** lecture is $20.00. On March 27, 1977, Tenerife, an island chain off the west coast of Africa, became the stage for the most devastating aviation disaster in history. Two fully loaded 747 aircraft collided on the same runway. What began as a series of circumstances, diverted flights, dense fog, quickly spiralled into a chain of misunderstandings that would change aviation forever. This story is not just about the disaster, but about human factors, and the communication breakdowns, which led to it. And in today's modern AI landscape we are again under threat. At the heart of the tragedy, language, hierarchy, and timing, where small misinterpretations carried enormous consequences. The Tenerife disaster was far more than an accident; it's a powerful case study in how systems, and people fail. Join me as we step back onto that fog-shrouded runway and piece together the events, decisions, and lessons of that day. This lecture goes beyond the headlines to uncover the human stories, the technical realities, and the lasting changes that reshaped global aviation. Are we safer, yes, but for how long? That is a matter for discussion. Upcoming topics in the 2026 series: \*Philosophy 1: Great Minds of the Western World: Goethe to Kant! - (June 2026) \*Philosophy 2: Great Minds of the Eastern World: Chuang Tzu to Dalai Lama - (July 2026) Legacy of Triangle: How a New York Factory Scandal changed North America - (September 2026) This is the fifth event in the series! So book your plans now! This event is for all levels and walkers, there are a few steps here and there to navigate, but mostly on one level. This event in a non-walking event. The lecture begins on the steps of Old City Hall at the northeast corner of Bay Street and Queen Street West, and has a ticket price of $20.00 per person, but **free with the yearly membership pass**. **Please note: Please e-transfer the ticket amount when booking your space for this tour!
