Being Heumann True Story Drama at TIFF 2026 + Dinner (TIFF Lightbox)
Sat, Sep 19, 9:30 PM**On Saturday September 19th,** join me to **see Being Heumann at the 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)**. *Heumann* is the opening and closing show for TIFF 2026. Featuring a breakout performance by Ruth Madeley and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo, this inspiring historical drama from Oscar-winning filmmaker Siân Heder (*CODA*) celebrates the paradigm-shifting activist Judy Heumann, “Mother of the Disability Rights Movement.” Every bit as moving as her Best Picture Oscar winner, *CODA*, *Heumann* tells the remarkable true story of the woman who led a world-changing campaign for accessibility. Judy Heumann rallied a handful, then dozens, then hundreds of ordinary Americans with disabilities to push the US government to live up to its commitments. Though set in the past, *Being Heumann* couldn’t be more pertinent to our present. When change can seem overwhelming, we need heroes like Judy to galvanize us. My seat is P23. **Purchase Being Heumann on Saturday September 19th at 6pm. Virtual World vs Real World
Wed, Sep 9, 10:00 PMVirtual World, Real World Today’s younger generation is growing up across two spaces at once: the world we physically experience and the world we encounter through screens. How do these two realities shape identity, relationships, attention, belonging, and the way we see ourselves? Can we still draw a clear line between what is “virtual” and what is “real”? At Auravista Gathering 6, we’ll explore these questions together, not to reject technology, but to better understand what it means to grow up between two realities.
