London Local Filmmakers Collective (LLFC) — Kickoff Cocktails and More!

We’re kicking off the very first **London Local Film Collective** **(LLFC)** meetup at **The Cocktail Club Monument** on **June 13**. Across the globe, people are living longer. One in ten children in the UK are expected to live beyond the age of 100. But who gets to live longer and ‘age well’? This exhibition explores how experiences of age are shaped by our environment, culture and society. ‘The Coming of Age’ features more than 120 artworks and objects, including historical artefacts and works by contemporary artists. We will join the free intro tour at 14:15 if it's running, then visit by ourselves and you can also check the 'Being Human' permanent exhibition afterwards. Film Club: Choice

This year’s films all revolve around the theme of “**choice**” – plenty of opportunity for philosophical exploration! Details of specific films will be revealed closer to the time of each event. PFA Film Club hosts free screenings of thought-provoking films, followed by a discussion about the raised philosophical issues, for general public. In 2026 meetings are held every third WEDNESDAY of the month at the Cafe of St. Hilda's East Community Centre, 18 Club Row, London E2 7EY. The nearest station is **Shoreditch High Street** on the Overground. The screening starts at 6:30 pm (or at 6pm for longer films) and we need to vacate the building by 9:00pm. The Last Waltz (1978)

Stop Making Sense was a landmark cinematic achievement, a concert film made by an established film director that looked and sounded amazing. But it wasn't the first. In the middle of a decade that encompassed Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and King of Comedy, Martin Scorsese filmed the star-studded farewell concert by The Band and he did so in style: seven cameras, at least three of which were operated by top Hollywood cinematographers. So, who were The Band? Bob Dylan chose them as his backing band when he went electric. After splitting off, they made a clutch of very good folk rock albums and their best known songs (The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up on Cripple Creek) are regarded as classics. After about a decade together, they decided to say goodbye with an extravaganza of a show that illustrated their standing in the musical community - the guest list of performers included Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, The Staple Singers, Neil Diamond, Muddy Waters and Ringo Starr.
