Come along for the first gathering of Sydney Gay Tarot Society at The Bank in Newtown. This is a relaxed social night for gay men who are into tarot, astrology, birth charts, spiritual curiosities — or simply enjoy a good conversation with people on the same wavelength. We’ll have a drink, grab some food if we feel like it, and get to know each other. Bring a tarot deck if you have one and would like to share or practise readings, but there’s absolutely no expectation to do a reading or know anything in particular. Mostly, this is about making new friends and creating a low-pressure little community around the cards, the cosmos and life’s bigger questions. Come as you are.

Inner West Writers Group - Write Club

Saturday 12 September is an in-person event at Marrickville Library. RSVP to secure a place! This group started in January 2020 in a beautiful private room granted by Marrickville Library. We have continued to meet in person fortnightly at the Library, with alternate weeks via Zoom. To keep up to date - sign up and receive our notifications. The group is flourishing! You will need to RSVP each week for the following Saturday so we can organise the right number of Zoom rooms and Library space to ensure good quality feedback. RSVP's will receive the link. The intention is to give a supportive environment to get traction on your writing project, gain useful feedback, and exchange writing and publishing information with each other. Please note that if you are attending for the first time - you are welcome to observe and listen to how we work. Your turn to read and be critiqued will be invited in the second session. So come along, bring up to 1500 words of your latest writing - fiction writers of all types, memoirists, biographers, graphic novelists, bloggists, poets - all writers welcome. You will have up to eight minutes to read out your work, an equal time of constructive critique and feedback from the rest of the group. If you want a tribe of fellow writers to be with you as you finish your writing project, build your author profile, want to get inspired by other writers, or want to just listen and give constructive feedback (we all need beta readers), you are very welcome. Write Night in Marrickville 2026!

Welcome to Write Night in Marrickville! For those of you who have previously attended the group, we've moved - we're now at Thirstville on Illawarra Road Marrickville. Its a quieter venue (compared to the Gasoline Pony where we used to meet), very chilled out, and has a nice upstairs area which should suit us well for a meeting. The night will be in two parts - 1. The group starts the evening with some writing exercises, so please bring along paper, pencil/pen, laptop, whatever works for you. 2. After that, we go over any written material you care to share with us. Please bring two A4 pages at most, or a few more if spaced out (such as with poetry). Please bring around 6-8 print-outs of pre-written work to share with others - the benefit of paper is that people can write thoughts and feedback on them, and we can all relax with less screen time. If you cant print anything, no problem, we'll work something out. Please be prepared to offer constructive - but nice and supportive - feedback. The official finish time as 8.30pm, but feel free to hang around for mid-week socialising with fellow creatives if you like. Very relaxed and welcoming! Many thanks, and have a great night! September Meetup for the Sydney Nature Journal Club

Come along to our **September meetup for the Sydney Nature Journal Club**. This is a chance to connect, spend some time in nature and journal together. I will offer some guidance to start. After we can share journal pages and ideas. **What to bring:** Bring along sketchbooks/paper and your favourite drawing materials (pens, pencils, watercolour, acrylic, anything you have). I will have extra materials on the day if you want to explore other mediums. \*\*Where:\*\* Coal loader cafe **Cost:** Suggested donation is $10 annual fee, $5 casual fee. Meet for chat over a drink and snack or dinner. Tonight, if you are in the mood, we can discuss camera setup, technique, editing images or photo critique. If you wish to discuss any aspects of your camera or photography technique, please bring the manual and your camera. You may bring your laptop with your editing software installed & I will bring a laptop with Lightroom Classic installed. We can discuss any aspect of editing your images. Most image editors are similar, so even if using a different editor, the techniques are similar, mainly due to the menu system. Feel free to bring image(s) on a usb stick, SD, microSD memory card or an iPhone that supports Airdrop. Using Lightroom we can work on extracting the story of the image. If you want photo critique, pls bring print, or full size images, preferably not resized, on a usb stick, SD, microSD memory card or an iPhone that supports Airdrop. Please do not ask for a critique on images displayed on a mobile phone, too small a display to be critical. Join us to read through and discuss Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Google books has a FREE PDF you can download. No need to do any homework, we will read together and discuss. Am looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
