OSC #2 - Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

OSC #2 - Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Wed, Jun 10, 11:30 PM
From Open Shelf Collective

Welcome to the second meetup of the Open Shelf Collective! Our first three books have been selected to set the tone, and following the end of each meetup we will begin with the nominations for the next meetups. The first thirty minutes of the event is open social time while we allow attendees to arrive. The book discussion will begin at 8:00 PM. At the end of the meetup, we will accept nominations for the next book and have our book swap. We encourage attendees to stay afterwards and chat if they would like to as well. If the event is full, please DM us and we can put you on a waitlist. "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. "In a small back alley of Tokyo, there is a café that has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. Local legend says that this shop offers something else besides coffee—the chance to travel back in time. Over the course of one summer, four customers visit the café in the hopes of making that journey. But time travel isn’t so simple, and there are rules that must be followed. Most important, the trip can last only as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold. Prepare to meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of the cafe’s time-travelling offer in order to: confront the man who left them; receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by Alzheimer's; see their sister one last time, and meet the daughter they never got the chance to know. Heartwarming, wistful, mysterious and delightfully quirky, Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s internationally bestselling novel explores the age-old question: What would you change if you could travel back in time?"

1920s Garden Party @ Spadina Museum

1920s Garden Party @ Spadina Museum

Sun, Jun 14, 4:00 PM
From Hamilton Networking and Friendship Group
4.9

In partnership with [The Hamilton Vintage Society,](https://www.facebook.com/groups/hamontvintage) we are taking our fun on the road for the annual Spadina House Museum Garden Party! There will be live music, dancing and general merriment. Bring a picnic! It is typically very hot, so take that into account as your build your daytime 1920s outfit. I also recommend bringing a blanket or chairs to sit on. Your admission gets you into the event, and you can also tour the beautiful Spadina mansion while you're there. I recommend we coordinate some carpools, as there is not a lot of parking nearby. There is some at nearby Casa Loma for around $20. For full details and to purchase tickets, go to the Toronto Museum site: [https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/history-art-culture/exhibits-events/?event_id=cb3c7bc3-5a8d-48a8-b67b-a9a53687729a&event_name=Gather%20in%20the%20Garden%3A%20A%201920s%20Picnic%20at%20Spadina&calendar_date=2026-06-14T12:00:00-04:00](https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/history-art-culture/exhibits-events/?event_id=cb3c7bc3-5a8d-48a8-b67b-a9a53687729a&event_name=Gather%20in%20the%20Garden%3A%20A%201920s%20Picnic%20at%20Spadina&calendar_date=2026-06-14T12%3A00%3A00-04%3A00&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExcFdmOWN5S2l6VHBHZXpJZHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR7rNb81NABJUHXg6kG-Bg1SIK51p0W-6lpNZHozf2CVrk-w4m4Q7upmgrJYZw_aem_HXvgNdzix2m2Z2gMdUnxiA) RSVP Policy \*\*\* ✨ We understand that life happens — if you need cancel, kindly try to give at least 24 hours’ notice for non restaurant events.
