Casual Meetups Los Angeles

From Los Angeles Hiking Group

We will have our own Altar for the group as a meetup point. AND you will be able to create art and help decorate it. (read below) This is the biggest, baddest Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival in Los Angeles, if not all of California. Whatever is written can't compare with a well made vid. **[Click here](https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907)** to watch what it's like [https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907](https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907) Come celebrate the Mexican holiday on which the souls of the departed are said to return and join in celebration with family members. It's a humorous way of dealing with the reality of death, which is after all a part of life. If all that sounds a little grim, I have been to this event in the past and found it to be one of the biggest, liveliest parties I have ever seen! There will be lots of dancing: Aztec dancing, folkloric dancing, and more. Families set up ofrendas (altars) to welcome back the dead; this year there will be over 100 of them and the best decorated win prizes. You can get your face painted (for a fee) like a calaca (skull), or come with your face already painted if you wish. Come in your best Dia de los Muertos costume; the best costume can win $1500! There are art exhibits and photo exhibits and stunning light exhibits. AND There will be five stages featuring primo entertainment until close to midnight. Along with food and beverage vendors and lounges in which to enjoy their wares. The main site is [https://www.ladayofthedead.com](https://www.ladayofthedead.com) Photos from past years [https://www.ladayofthedead.com/gallery/nggallery/gallery](https://www.ladayofthedead.com/gallery/nggallery/gallery) Event details such as specific acts and parking get updated to this posted in the month before. and parking. For the moment you can find 2023's info at [https://www.ladayofthedead.com/event-info/](https://www.ladayofthedead.com/event-info/) COST? For 2023 . . . it was : $35 for Day Of The Dead 9AM to 3PM And $60 for Night of the Dead from 5PM to midnight. Yeah . . . it's not cheap. On the other hand . . . it's really awesome and not like anything you have ever seen. **[Click here](https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907)** to watch what it's like [https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907](https://player.vimeo.com/video/816694907) This is a Meetup? YES . . . . we (the group owners) will get an alter spot. We will decorate it a bit. And we will set it up with chairs and a table with an art activity. Watercolors . . . watercolor paper . . . brushes . . . and you will get to make your own offering for the booth. We will post the location of our altar. This will be our Meetup point. You will get there. And you can head out with whoever is there. OR . .. sit down and start with some art and when other folks get there . .. head out with them. And remember, this takes place in a cemetery and mausoleum. Some of our members have family members buried or interred there, so a certain level of decorum is also appropriate, along with the fun and joy. For instance . . . I personally have relatives located here. Looking forward to seeing you there! RSVP here if you are interested AND if you are interested in being one of the hosts. OR if you are interested in being in charge of the design and creation of the alter and decorations . . . send me a message. Will add you and you can then be part of making this event happen.

We will be playing both CASHFLOW® 101 and 202. For those who have not played it, CASHFLOW® 202 teaches those more experienced players advanced business and investing techniques used by technical investors by adding volatility to the game. It teaches the investment techniques of "short-selling stock", "put-options", "call-options", "straddles" and real estate exchanges. By playing the Cashflow board game, we can begin to truly learn how the money game is played and begin to change our thinking about what actions we need to take in order to truly be financially free. If you desire to promote your business, network with like minded individuals and learn the skills for building lifelong passive income streams you desire, this is your group. Who's Leading the Cashflow Games? Douglas Carver, Club Co-organizer Doug leads Cashflow 101. As an active local Realtor (*[www.LivingInWestLA.com](www.livinginwestla.com)*) and full time stock trader and investor, he loves helping people achieve their financial goals whether it be buying/ selling real estate or investing in the stock market. Chris Hanson, Club Co-organizer Chris leads Cashflow 202. He left his corporate job in 2002 to trade his own money full-time. Autumn and Fall Colors is really an east coast thing . . . EXCEPT for the Eastern Sierra. Nowhere else in California does the foliage explode in color like this. The Quaking Aspens and the Cottonwoods turn and it is glorious. Take a look at pix from past times we have gone [https://photos.app.goo.gl/4H8pH2uSezGKoH1h8](https://photos.app.goo.gl/4H8pH2uSezGKoH1h8) For the Fall Colors portion we will be driving to all the best spots (and short short photo hikes. 🍜 Hainan Chicken, Noodles at Nandao 🍜

Sun, Oct 18, 2:30 AM

From " ¡ ᗯᗩᑎTEᗪ TO ᗪO TᕼᗩT . . . ᒍᑌᔕT ᑎOT ᗩᒪOᑎE ! ! ! ℠ "

This time we’re heading to **Nandao Rice & Noodle**, a newer Monterey Park spot specializing in Singaporean-style Hainan chicken rice, noodles, wontons and a few things that sound suspiciously like we’re going to order way too much food. Their **Hainan chicken rice** is the headliner: tender poached chicken, savory rice and three sauces that give you plenty of opportunity to pretend you know exactly which combination is correct. The braised beef noodle soup, spicy pork-and-shrimp wontons and chicken lime cold noodles have also been getting a lot of attention. The *LA Times* recently went so far as to call Nandao one of its favorite SGV spots right now. [Los Angeles Times](https://www.latimes.com/food/story/2026-09-10/best-hainan-chicken-in-la-nandao-rice-noodle?utm_source=chatgpt.com) Yelp diners have been praising the tender Hainan and soy-sauce chicken, flavorful rice, friendly service and seasoning, which is usually a much better sign than a restaurant describing its own food as "mouthwatering." [Roadtrippers](https://maps.roadtrippers.com/us/monterey-park-ca/food-drink/nandao-rice-noodle-monterey-park-ca--0) So come hungry. Order something you've never tried, steal recommendations from the person next to you, and meet some new people over bowls of carbs and meat. Basically civilization at its finest. **Yelp:** [Nandao Rice & Noodle on Yelp](https://www.yelp.com/biz/nandao-rice-and-noodle-monterey-park?utm_source=chatgpt.com) **RSVP Info:** Space is limited, so RSVP early. Reminder: Please bring enough cash, Venmo, or Zelle to cover your portion. My Venmo is @Marvin-Quitoriano or Zelle me at 6264845164

As an active local Realtor (*[[www.LivingInWestLA.com](http://www.livinginwestla.com/)]([www.livinginwestla.com](http://www.livinginwestla.com/))*) and full time stock trader and investor, he loves helping people achieve their financial goals whether it be buying/ selling real estate or investing in the stock market. Chris Hanson, Club Co-organizer Chris leads Cashflow 202. He left his corporate job in 2002 to trade his own money full-time. Over the years, enough people kept saying, "show me how", so he developed "Profits On Wall Street". It's an educational firm specializing in teaching investors how to trade stocks and options. Learn more about him at *[[www.ProfitsOnWallStreet.com](http://www.profitsonwallstreet.com/)]([www.profitsonwallstreet.com](http://www.profitsonwallstreet.com/))* 95% of achieving & maintaining time freedom is about the "how to think"[...only](http://...only/) about 5% is about the "how to do". He hosts a podcast called Investing From The Beach, where he discusses the "How to Think" aspects of achieving time freedom. The show can be found on iTunes or at *[[www.InvestingFromTheBeach.com](http://www.investingfromthebeach.com/)]([www.investingfromthebeach.com](http://www.investingfromthebeach.com/))* I personally look forward to personally meeting you at our next event.
