Hike & dine - Harvest festival in Altranft [14km]

5km Countryside Walk + Giant Pumpkin Festival in Beelitz

Autumn is here, and we're heading to the Spargel- und Erlebnishof in Klaistow, near Beelitz, where giant sculptures made entirely of pumpkins bring "Kürbis goes to Hollywood" to life — Mickey Mouse, Marilyn Monroe, Harry Potter, Yoda and more. At 14:00 we'll catch the Great Pumpkin Weigh-In live, where last year's winner tipped the scale at over 1,000 kg! We meet at 11:10 at Berlin-Charlottenburg and take the RE7 (dep. 11:24) towards Bad Belzig, arriving at Beelitz-Heilstätten at 11:58. We then switch to bus 641 towards Werder, arriving at Klaistow Spargelhof at 12:26. After the festival and weigh-in, we'll take a scenic 5 km walk through the countryside, stopping at the Kletterwald & Tiergehege to pet some animals, before heading back to Berlin. 📷 Photo Walk in Schlossgarten Charlottenburg

Let's go for a walk in Schlossgarten Charlottenburg and take some nice photos of anything we want. There are no requirements to the equipment or skill level. I have some experience in photography and can give some advices to those who are interested. You can also join if you just want to have a walk regardless of your desire to take photos, but I plan to reasonably wait for others to finish taking photos in different locations. The meeting point is near Theaterbau. Its address is Spandauer Damm 22, 14059 Berlin. Smoking, alcohol and drug use are not supported at the event. The event is free, but you are welcome to leave some tips in the end, so I'll be able to compensate the fees for organizer subscription.

So this is the time to thank whomever is responsible for the crop by celebrating Harvest festivals. This time we visit [Kuhhorst](https://diekuhhorster.de/erntedankfest/), an inclusive Farm north east of Berlin. Some of you may know them from their organic products which are sold in Berlin as well. Starting in Paulinenaue we will also pass a very lovely former railroad embankment with (hopefully) very colorful trees around. Arrived in Kuhhorst after about 20km we enjoy the animals (alive and on the plate) and all the activities offered there ([see website](https://diekuhhorster.de/erntedankfest/)). To avoid cycling in too much darkness we head back the remaining 15km at around 16:30 at a relaxed speed. **SPEED:** Leisurely around 16km/h, at least if the wind doesn't come from the front. This is like "Being able to see the details on the side of the road and enjoying the view in general… and have a chat." **DISTANCE AND TERRAIN:** This is an about 38ish km ride, with mainly mixed but also some solid or soft ground. In general: Bikes with thin tyres (Race bikes, Road bikes, Fixies), rented bikes (Uber, Swapfiets) or any special bikes (Folding bikes, BMX etc.) are not suitable! You won't have fun, trust me! And if you want to bring Kids or Animals please get in touch before! **MEETING POINT:** 08:50 - Berlin Südkreuz, at the ticket machine right after the NORTHERN moving staircase (facing the TV-Tower. I have a blue Villiger Trekking bike. But you can hop in at any other station if you want (and dare). **TICKET:** It is 6,30 way out / person and the same way back, so it doesn't make much sense to organise a BBT. The Deutschlandticket is valid. The DB loves to stir up the plans by changing trains on short notice! If anything happens the Meeting point is the starting point of the cycling. While we'll stop somewhere for a lunch and/or coffee please always bring your snacks but especially some drinks along! And, PLEASE make sure your bike is in a proper state! Check your tyre pressure and oil the chain! Does your light work? Having a toolset is highly recommended and a spare inner tube to fix a flat tyre a big plus! While we might be able to help in some circumstances please think about what happens if we can't! Thank you! Borsig! – Berlin's Locomotive King by Bike

**Borsig! – Berlin's Locomotive King by Bike** **Time:** 12:00 - Midday **Start:** Hamburger Bahnhof – Main Entrance **Distance:** 30 km **Suggested contribution:** €5 This week we'll be following the story of **August Borsig**, one of the men who helped turn Berlin into an industrial powerhouse—and the company that became Europe's largest locomotive manufacturer. We'll cycle across Berlin following Borsig's remarkable journey from a small factory outside the old city walls, through the industrial landscape of Moabit, to the enormous works in Tegel. Along the way we'll see how the requirements of heavy industry pushed factories further and further away from the city centre, and how each move created new industrial landscapes, transport connections and workers' housing. We'll finish at the magnificent **Borsigwerke in Tegel**, beneath the famous Borsigturm. **The Tour** We will follow the story of Borsig through **three generations of factories**. We'll begin near the former Borsig works on **Chausseestraße**, where August Borsig established his factory in 1837. Just four years later, the first Borsig locomotive left the works. The company rapidly expanded, becoming one of Europe's leading locomotive manufacturers. But there was a problem: the factory was becoming trapped inside a rapidly growing city. We'll cycle north and west towards **Moabit**, where Borsig began expanding in the 1840s. Here the company established an ironworks, boiler works and machine factory beside the Spree, taking advantage of the waterway and the growing railway network. By the middle of the nineteenth century, much of Borsig's production had moved here. This gives us the opportunity to explore one of the great stories of Berlin's industrial development: **why did factories leave the city centre?** We'll look at the relationship between industry, transport, land prices, workers and the waterways that allowed heavy materials to move around the city. Finally we'll continue north to **Tegel**, where Borsig built a completely new factory from the 1890s onwards. Production began here in 1898, on a huge site designed specifically for modern industrial production. The factory even had its own harbour for bringing in raw materials. Here we'll explore the surviving **Borsigtor, factory halls and Borsigturm**, the extraordinary 65-metre tower built in 1922–24 and Berlin's first office high-rise. We'll then finish by exploring **Borsigwalde**, the workers' settlement created alongside the new factory. Borsig needed thousands of workers, but there wasn't enough housing in Tegel, so the company helped create an entirely new neighbourhood. Its surviving streets provide a fascinating glimpse into the social side of industrialisation. We'll finish with a well-earned beer together in Tegel. I am an accredited tour guide in Berlin, specialising in telling stories about the city's industrial heritage. We’ll start at the Teltow Canal and follow the former border strip to the Britzer Connecting Canal, where a memorial stone commemorates one of the last victims of an escape attempt. After crossing the Britzer Zweigkanal, we reach the former Sonnenallee border crossing. The trail continues through the green corridor along the Heidekampgraben toward Treptow-Kiefholzstraße. The former border, now marked by a double row of cobblestones, runs through a densel built-up residential area to the former watchtower at Schlesischer Busch in Kreuzberg, where the hike ends. Wir starten am Teltowkanal und folgen dem ehemaligen Grenzstreifen bis zum Britzer Verbindungskanal, wo eine Stele an eines der letzten Fluchtopfer erinnert. Nach der Überquerung des Britzer Zweigkanals erreichen wir den ehemaligen Grenzübergang Sonnenallee. Weiter führt der Weg durch den Grünzug am Heidekampgraben in Richtung Treptow-Kiefholzstraße. Die ehemalige Grenze, heute durch eine doppelte Pflastersteinreihe markiert, verläuft durch ein dicht bebautes Wohngebiet bis zum ehemaligen Wachturm am Schlesischen Busch in Kreuzberg, wo die Wanderung endet. Da es nicht garantiert ist, ob es unterwegs Einkehrmöglichkeiten gibt, bringt euch bitte ausreichend Proviant für ein Picknick mit. **Was ist Village Outdoor?** Village Outdoor Events sind monatliche Treffen der we are village-Community und ihrer Freunde, um Outdoor-Aktivitäten in und um Berlin zu genießen. Zu den Aktivitäten gehören Waldwanderungen, Radtouren, Schwimmen in Seen, Sightseeing und Kajakfahren. Jeden Monat gibt es einen kostenlosen und unkomplizierten Spaziergang oder eine Wanderung in Bereichen Berlins oder in der Umgebung, die mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln erreichbar sind. **Hinweise** **Sei sun smart:** Bitte denk an Sonnenencreme, eine Kopfbedeckung und vielleicht sogar an ein Shirt mit langen Ärmeln. MINDFUL HIKE & MEDITATION: THE STOIC STROLL VOL. 1

**AMOR FATI** invites you to *The Stoic Stroll Vol. 1: The View From Above* \- a morning rooted in the Stoic practice of reframing perspective through movement and nature\. Inspired by the practice of *Sympatheia*, this stroll invites us to step back from micro-stressors, observe our place within the larger landscape, and cultivate mental clarity high above the city canopy. Rather than a high-performance trek, this is a non-competitive, synchronized 7K hike focused on the cultivation of mental clarity and shared rhythm. We walk together through the forest paths of Grunewald, pacing ourselves to the collective energy of the group, before transitioning into quiet stillness and guided meditation at the summit of Drachenberg. Afterwards we'll enjoy warm drinks and open conversation. **THE VIBE** Grounding, expansive, and intentional.
