Schlaubetal: Brandenburg's Quality Hiking Route

A 20k hike through a beautiful local valley filled with ancient mills, nature, and more. Hike Distance: 20km Difficulty: Intermediate Often hailed as "Brandenburg’s Wild South," this full-day trekking experience guides you along the entire iconic Schlaubetal Trail (Schlaubetal-Wanderweg), a 20-kilometer certified quality trail that winds through glacial valleys, pristine pine-oak woodlands, and serene lake chains. Starting at Müllrose—the gateway town to the valley—you’ll follow the winding, crystal-clear Schlaube River upstream toward its origin near Lake Wirchensee. As you navigate forested ravines and unpaved waterside paths, you’ll discover the region’s rich industrial heritage, passing historic timber-framed watermills like Ragower Mühle, Bremsdorfer Mühle, and Kieselwitzer Mühle. Surrounded by undisturbed wildlife, ancient trees, and quiet solitude, this hike offers the ultimate nature reset for urbanites looking to experience the full extent of Brandenburg’s premier hiking destination. Just in time for Halloween, we’re heading to one of the eeriest lost places in Brandenburg: the abandoned **Grabowsee sanatorium**. Hidden in the forest by a quiet lake, this former lung clinic has stood empty for decades. Its crumbling red-brick wards, ivy-covered facades and silent corridors are so cinematic they’ve been used as a film set for horror movies and Hollywood blockbusters, including *The Monuments Men*. On a grey late-October day, it doesn’t get more atmospheric. **The plan:** • **10:00** — Meet in front of Oranienburg train station 👉 [https://maps.app.goo.gl/qT83XCBzn2wgZZkV6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/qT83XCBzn2wgZZkV6) How to get there: Take the RB32 train to Oranienburg from Ostkreuz at 9:18, or use any other option that works for you. • **10:00–13:00** — We hike through the forest to Grabowsee (with a break for lunch/snacks) • **13:00–14:30** — We explore the sanatorium: the old clinic buildings, the chapel and the overgrown lakeside grounds. **Entrance: 10€, cash on site** (an additional fee of 10€ is usually asked if you want to take photos) • **14:30–16:30** — We hike back to Oranienburg. Hike and Reflect

Hi everyone 👋🥾 Our first Hike & Reflect is happening on 31 October 2026! Annabell and I are really looking forward to spending the day hiking, reflecting and connecting with you. 🌿 What is Hike & Reflect? This is not just a nature walk. Annabell and I are both certified systemic coaches, and throughout the hike we’ll bring in reflection questions, conversation prompts and a few simple exercises. The idea is to create space to learn more about yourself, hear different perspectives and connect with other people on a deeper level. We’ll explore topics through conversations in pairs or small groups, practise listening to each other and also have moments of quiet walking and simply enjoying nature. Nothing is mandatory. Everything we offer is an invitation. But the experience works best if you come with some openness, curiosity and willingness to engage. 💬 Come curious You’ll be talking to people you may never have met before, and some conversations may go a little deeper than the usual small talk. Some exercises might feel slightly unusual at first, and that’s completely fine. If you enjoy meeting new people, meaningful conversations, reflection, new perspectives and being outdoors, you’ll probably feel very much at home here. 🤝 💶 Contribution We ask for a small €5 contribution per participant to help cover the Meetup costs for running the group and hosting our events. 🚆 Getting there We plan to take the RE3 from Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 10:32, arriving at Chorin station at 11:12. You’re welcome to take the same train, travel independently or come by car. If you’re travelling by train, please make sure your ticket is valid for the full journey to Chorin. 📍 Meeting point We’ll meet at Chorin station after the train arrives. We’ll start with a short check-in and introduction before setting off together. 🥾 The hike We’ll do a circular hike of approximately 16 km, starting and ending at Chorin station. The pace will be relaxed, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours. Along the way, we’ll mix hiking with conversations, reflection exercises and some quieter sections. 🥪 Break We’ll take a break of around 45 minutes at the Ökodorf Brodowin Hofladen, where you can buy something to eat or drink and use the restroom. 🎒 What to bring Please bring enough water, some food, comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. Please assess your own fitness level and take care of yourself on the trail. Everyone participates at their own risk. 🏁 Finish We’re aiming to be back at Chorin station at around 16:15, where we’ll finish with a short check-out together. Afterwards, you can head back to Berlin or stay a little longer if you like. 📸 We’ll always ask before taking or sharing identifiable photos. Psychedelic Forest Hike III

Hey psychedelic fans! With the harvest season coming to an end, we are once again hiking through the beautiful Grunewald. On Halloween (or Samhain), the boundary between this world and the Otherworld is said to be easier to cross. So, let’s see which spirits we can discover amongst the trees. Bring whatever you need for the afternoon: drinks, some snacks to share, something to sit on during the picnic break, and, of course, suitable clothing. Just like last time, we’ll meet at S Grunewald (exit towards Grunewald) at 12:00, with the hike starting around 12:15. We’re aiming to be back at S Grunewald between 16:00 and 17:00. If you have trouble finding us, look out for a big mushroom-shaped balloon! If you’re running late, just drop a message in the event chat. The weather forecast is looking promising so far, but if Saturday’s weather turns out to be really bad, we might postpone the hike until Sunday. If that happens, we’ll let everyone know in the group by Friday.

WHATSAPP LINK BELOW 📳​ We take a walk in Berlin to meet new people or people we already know 😁 It's a way to spend a few hours together on a Sunday afternoon. **How it works?** The concept is very simple: * We meet at Berlin Hbf at 14,00 o'clock (we use the Whatsapp Chat to find each other: I will post there my exact location outside the station, on the southern exit) * I wait for people for 10 minutes, till 14,10, then we start to walk direction Tiergarten, crossing the entire park and its beauties 🌳🌳🌳 * We reach Zoologischer Garten and we go beyond * The total length of the walk is about 6kms * We land finally at Cafe Hardenberg to take coffee, a drink, or some food, and spend more time together (https://maps.app.goo.gl/39DByUFBnsmowHhv6) 🥐☕🍪 I consider that the event will last in overall around 4 hours (2 hours of walk 🚶🚶‍♀️ and 2 hours at the Cafe), but people are free to stay together longer, if they want 🙂 What I provide is leading the walk and the people at the Cafe, but I do not force anyone to stay shorter or longer.
