Easy Backpacking @Castle Rock Trail Camp - Beginner-Friendly 2-Night Trip

This is a relaxed two-night backpacking trip at Castle Rock State Park, ideal for beginner backpackers or anyone looking for a low-mileage weekend outdoors. We'll hike about 2.6 miles from the main parking area to Castle Rock Trail Camp via the Saratoga Gap Trail. The route is short, but expect normal backpacking conditions, including uneven and rocky sections while carrying your own gear. Once at camp, we'll have plenty of time to settle in, relax, and explore the nearby trails, sandstone formations, forest, and ridge views. The trail camp has picnic tables, vault toilets, trash receptacles. **Please carry all the water you'll need. The water source at the camp is not functional.** Please respond to all questions when you RSVP. This will be a small group, and your spot is confirmed only after you receive a confirmation from me. Please be specific if you can only attend with a carpool. **Dates:** Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20 **Trail:** \~5.2 miles minimum round trip, with optional exploring from camp **Plan:** Two nights at Castle Rock Trail Camp, relaxed pace, nearby hiking, and camp time **Difficulty:** Easy/beginner-friendly backpacking, but you must be able to carry your own overnight gear over uneven trail **Group size:** Small group; park limit is 6 people per campsite **Parking:** One overnight vehicle is included. We'll coordinate carpools because extra vehicles cost $10 per night. Overnight parking is only in the designated trail-camp lot, with check-in at the Robert C. Kirkwood entrance **Trip Cost:** 10$ per person for the whole trip **Trip confirmation:** Your participation is confirmed after you have answered the pre-req questions, made the payment, and received a confirmation from me You'll need your own backpacking gear, food, water, and the 10 essentials. We must reach camp before sunset. No dogs, smoking, or bikes on the trail. Cell service is likely unavailable in the backcountry. As always - respect the wilderness, follow Leave No Trace principles, and use good trail etiquette. If you're unfamiliar with Leave No Trace, please read up on it before the trip. Mammoth to Yosemite Backpack

This is a multi-day trip from Mammoth Red Cones trail to Yosemite Tuolumne Meadows. * This is a 5 days/4nights and \~42 miles, 6,500 ft vertical backpacking trip. * You must be an experienced backpacker to join. There is no minimum pace requirement but the ability to average at least 2mph is recommended. At the same time, it is not going to be a race to get from point to point, and the expectation is that we will remain together or at least within sight of each other. **Itinerary -** * Day 1 - Meet at Tuolumne Meadows and take the 1:05pm ($16) bus to Mammoth Village. From Mammoth Village take the shuttle to Horseshoe Lake where the trailhead is. From there hike about 2 miles to a suitable campsite, note there is no camping at McCloud Lake so we will need to travel past that before camping. * Day 2 - Hike to Vivian Lake, \~10.5 miles * Day 3 - Hike to Thousand Island Lake, \~9.5 miles * Day4 - Hike just past Donohue Pass, \~11 miles * Day 5 - Hike out to TM, \~9 miles * PLEASE EMAIL ME FIRST - jlmuncie@yahoo.com to coordinate and go over your backpacking experience. * This itinerary is flexible. There's lots of good camping in the area and as long as the entire group agrees I'm open to modifications. * COST: $5 for permit fees. Acadia Hiking And Coastal Maine Adventure

### Exploration, Exhilaration, And Eleanor! Get ready for non-stop whiffs of sweet pine as you hike the startingly beautiful coastlines of Maine and Acadia National Park. This 7-day women’s trip takes you far away from a world where everyone needs you… and it includes a sneaky visit into Canada. It all starts in Portland, Maine where we rendezvous, exchange bff necklaces, and hop in the SHE-nanigan Shuttle to our first hike… which is THE best hike. We’ll scale the famous iron rungs of The Beehive, peer into the crystal-clear waters of Bowl Pond, and gape at stunning shoreline cliffs as we explore Gorham Mountain and Sand Beach. Next we’ll scramble the summits of The Bubbles, eat our body weight in seafood in Bar Harbor, and spend an entire day exploring Acadia via sea kayak. Bald eagles, porpoises, otters, and seals send their love and may even pose for a photo thanks to the glorious nature freaks leading our aqua-safari. We’ll tiptoe into the quietside of Acadia, where crowds never reach. And you’ll get your unmissable photo of Somesville Bridge, dammit! At the end of each day, you’ll rest your gorgeous head at our epic Glampsite. Enjoy real beds, ensuite bathrooms, hot showers, good coffee, and the best laughs of your life. Leave the cooking and the backcountry picnics to us. When we leave our Glampsite after four nights, we’ll enjoy one more hike along the Bold Coast Trail, brimming with badass drop-offs and gorgeous views of the Bay of Maine. We’ll break for beers and battered cod in the darling seaside town of Lubec, Maine. And then we’ll whip out our passports to casually cross into Canada like it’s another Tuesday. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. For two nights, we’ll stay in a historic cottage and working museum inside Roosevelt Campobello International Park, the grounds where Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s magnificent summer home is preserved!
