Is This Company Any Good? — A Live Valuation Workshop
Fri, Jun 12, 8:00 AM## Is This Company Any Good? — A Live Valuation Workshop Think of a company you’d like to understand better. Once you RSVP, please nominate one company in the comments. I’ll choose one from the nominations before the event and walk through how I would analyse it step by step. In plain English, we’ll look at the business model, financial statements, profitability, cash flow, debt, valuation and key risks — with the aim of learning how to think clearly about whether a business is high quality or not. This is an educational workshop only. It is not personal financial advice, and we won’t be making buy/sell/hold recommendations. The goal is to learn the process of business analysis so you can think more clearly about businesses and investing. All levels of experience are welcome. ## After the workshop: drinks and open discussion After the company analysis, we’ll stick around for drinks and a relaxed discussion about investing, personal finance and getting ahead financially. Bring whatever questions or topics are on your mind — how to start investing, the big tax changes, property versus shares, ETFs, super, budgeting, risk, or anything else finance-related. The aim is to create a friendly group of like-minded people who want to learn, share ideas and make better long-term decisions with money. **Cost:** $10 cash or PayID on the day.

Meet up with your analytics peers and chat
Wed, Jun 10, 8:00 AM[RSVP via EventBrite](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/data-analytics-wednesday-jun-2026-tickets-1989904058606?aff=oddtdtcreator) **A playbook for operationalising LLM as a judge** *[Angelica Chowdhury](https://www.linkedin.com/in/angelicachowdhury/), Data Scientist and AI Safety Researcher* Shipping LLMs into production means you need to evaluate them at scale. But human review doesn't scale, and trusting a single LLM judge introduces its own failures: position bias, fluency over substance, unfaithful reasoning, and no fallback when the judge is wrong. Most teams reach for a quick LLM eval and call it done, without realising they've traded one black box for another. To address this gap, this talk will cover strategies for building evaluation pipelines with actionable implementation steps, when to escalate cases for human review, and how to know your judge is working. **When the Numbers Break: An Analytics Leader’s Incident Playbook** *[Andrew Pearce](https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrewwilliampearce/), Business Data and Insights Manager, Metcash* What happens when the numbers suddenly stop making sense? Data quality incidents are inevitable in complex organisations. A missing data feed, duplicated transactions, or broken pipeline can quickly undermine confidence in analytics and stall decision making across the business. This talk explores how analytics leaders can respond when the numbers break. Drawing on real-world experiences from enterprise retail environments, Andrew will share a practical playbook for managing data incidents: containing impact, communicating uncertainty, restoring trust, and turning incidents into stronger systems. Rather than focusing on technical fixes, the session focuses on leadership: how to maintain stakeholder confidence, keep decisions moving, and strengthen organisational trust in data. Attendees will leave with a simple framework they can apply the next time their data pipeline fails and the business asks the inevitable question: “Can we trust the numbers?” **What's this all about?** On the second Wednesday of every month the digital analytics community gets together for one or two short talks in an informal setting. There's lots of time for open ended discussion and to socialise. Plus there's free drinks! Open to anyone interested in digital analytics, we have people ranging from beginners through to analytics gurus and from marketing through to technical spaces, and everything in between.
