**Her Sound in Bloom** is an in-person networking event in London for women aged 35 and over who work in music or are finding their way into it. **We’re not ageing, darling — we’re blooming! 🌸** Your voice deserves to be heard, and your creativity deserves space to grow. Organised and led by **singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Freya Alley**, 'Her Sound in Bloom' brings together women aged 35 and over to meet, share experiences and support each other in music. Whether you’re an established artist, returning after a break or finding the courage to begin, you are welcome here. **Dress up, put your lipstick on and join us in full bloom for a beautiful evening in London — just because we deserve it! 💋** Join us for relaxed networking and honest conversations about creativity, confidence, ambition and pursuing music on your own terms. This timeless classic project is taken from our favourite 1910 vintage woodwork book "Carpentry for Beginners". As you begin learning how to make traditional wood joints in seasoned redwood, you will learn how to use and care for chisels, saws, planes and marking gauges. You will work on a variety of exercises – designed to incorporate simple to advanced joints and tools that build confidence and independence. **We will get familiar with some tools of the trade:** * Introducing basic tools. Equipping a toolbox for home carpentry. * Timber selection/marking out and cutting. Cutting accurately with a hand saw * Using a plane, different types of planes. Sharpening tips and practice. * Using a chisel and its uses. Sharpening tips and practice. **You will use planes, chisels and marking tools:** * Simple joints and why we use them. * Half joints, lap joints. Practice using chisels and planes. * Bridle joints and a mortise and tenon It’s fast paced but with the support of an experienced and patient tutor, you will complete your own project to make a small set of steps. * Work from selected pine and measure, mark and cut pieces. * Choose and make joints, assemble and secure with adhesive or screws. * Sand and smooth to a stage where your project is ready for staining or waxing and taken home with pride.

"Gay Aprons Only" pasta cooking class

If you are looking for something fun, cheeky, and a little different for your Saturday night, don’t miss this Gay Aprons Only pasta workshop. This is a playful and social cooking experience designed for gay men who enjoy great food, learning something new, good company, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a way to explore our masculinity in a safe, respectful, private and non-judgemental environment. We’ll kick off the evening with a glass of bubbles and a selection of antipasti to break the ice. Then, together, we’ll dive into preparing a traditional Italian dish from scratch. This time, you’ll learn how to make **Garganelli**, a traditional egg pasta from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. These little ridged pasta tubes will be served with a rich, rustic meat ragù, full of flavour and Italian tradition. Comforting, hearty and absolutely delicious, it’s the perfect dish for a cosy autumn evening! 🍂🍝 The Aprons Only cooking class takes place in a cosy private flat near Victoria Station and is limited to a small group of up to max 10 people, keeping things intimate and relaxed. You will be led by expert, Nathan Cardwell who is a passionate woodworker and a patient tutor. When not with us, he teaches woodwork in a London boy’s school. Nathan will introduce the parts of the lathe and explain how to safely secure your work, the methods to use with each chisel and how to sand and finish your projects. During the day you will learn the ’Headstock method’ to make a small bowl in hardwood and ‘Spindle turning’ to make a wooden tube that fits into a metal pen mechanism. We will supply everything so come with curiosity and enthusiasm and leave with satisfaction, a bowl and a ready-to-use rollerball pen. We will also advise you on how to continue this fascinating hobby with guidance on buying your own lathe, tools and timber.

Our rush and willow weaving courses are one day workshops in London and perfect for beginners. Great Britain has a long tradition of basket making and techniques we use today were developed thousands of years ago. We offer two distinct types of basket making. Both are easy to pick up, perfect for absolute beginners and both produce marvellous results. **Willow Baskets** were what we used to carry our shopping home in before the invention of plastic bags. Over one day, experienced basket maker John Page will guide you through the stages of making a gorgeous traditional shallow basket in English Willow. This is an excellent beginners’ project in ‘stake and strand’ technique resulting in very durable and strong structure.
