Sunday Silent Reading @ Bode Museum

Welcome to the **Silent Reading Club** – a cosy gathering for book lovers who enjoy the simple pleasure of reading together in good company. Bring any book you're excited about (or finally meaning to finish!) and spend a peaceful Sunday morning surrounded by fellow readers. **Everyone is welcome, and every book belongs here.** *(Please RSVP "Yes" only if you can attend, so we can save a seat for you and offer any remaining spots to readers on the waitlist.)* 📍 **Where:** Café (1st floor), Bode Museum There's no entrance fee. We simply ask that you support our wonderful host by ordering at least one drink or snack from the café, and please don't bring outside food or drinks. No assigned books. No discussions you have to join. No reading goals to hit. Just an hour of uninterrupted reading in a room full of people who love books as much as you do. We'll be spread across a few tables, so simply grab a seat wherever you like, settle in, and say hello if you're feeling social. **Schedule** **10:30–11:00** – Arrive, grab a coffee (or breakfast!), and chat with fellow readers **11:00–12:00** – Quiet reading hour **12:00–12:30** – Optional social time: talk about your current read, swap recommendations, or simply keep turning pages. Feel free to stay for lunch afterwards—you never know, your next favorite book (or a new friend) might be just one conversation away.

Silent Reading Club

Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - ⁠Silent reading (~1 hour) - ⁠Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - ⁠Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

Let's meet for the ACX Fall Meetups in the Humboldthain! This will likely be a big meetup, as it was announced by Scott on ACX. From experience, I expect 25–50 attendees. Humboldthain is good to reach by public transport; the next train stops are S+U Gesundbrunnen and S Humboldthain. You don't have to RSVP, pay money, or know anything about the blog. Please feel free to come even if you feel awkward about it, even if you're not "the typical ACX reader", even if you're worried people won't like you, etc. You're unlikely to be an outlier, regardless of whether you're very weird, very normie, or somewhere in between. Du schreibst direkt vor Ort, teilst deine Texte mit der Gruppe (freiwillig!) und erhältst konstruktives Feedback. Die Atmosphäre ist offen und unterstützend. Hier darf ein Text noch unfertig sein, eine Idee noch roh, ein Gedanke noch unausgereift. In dieser Atmosphäre gegenseitiger Wertschätzung entsteht der Mut, sich auszuprobieren und die eigene Stimme zu entdecken. Wir lesen einander vor, geben Rückmeldung, ermutigen uns gegenseitig und praktizieren das Zuhören.

Dear Book Enthusiasts, For our October gathering, we’ll be reading ***The Image of Her*** by the renowned French writer and philosopher **Simone de Beauvoir**. Set in 1960s Paris, this thought-provoking novel follows a seemingly successful woman who appears to have everything one could wish for: a loving family, financial comfort, a fulfilling career, and a life that looks enviable from the outside.
