Beginning tango dance with Felipe and Ayano (series of three classes)

Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda are back to teach tango in Berkeley! Felipe and Ayano teach challenging, fun classes where everyone is encouraged to lead and follow. In Tango 101, they introduce lead-follow technique and the fundamental structures of tango. No partner necessary; the teachers encourage people to switch partners throughout the class. These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people. Wednesdays, June 10th, 17th, and 24th 6:45 pm: check-in 7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango 8:00-8:30 pm practica We urge beginners to sign up for the complete series of three classes, but drop-ins are also welcome. $60 general admission (series of three classes) $25 general admission (single class) $15 student with ID (single class) We accept cash and venmo at the door. This event consists of * A concert with 6-8 performers, followed by * A potluck supper and classical "jam session", held at a member's home. Come Sing Show Tunes!

This event consists of an informal concert in which the performers are all of us! We'll take turns singing Broadway show tunes. All musical levels are welcome, whether you're an aspiring musical theater star or just someone who belts out show tunes in the shower. If you feel shy about singing a solo, it's okay to come and listen. We'll also do some group singing. Please think ahead and pick one or two solos you'd enjoy singing (this is not a firm commitment, you can change your mind if you get the jitters). Depending on how many people choose to sing, you'll either get to sing one or both of your songs. We don't always have an accompanist, so after you pick your song(s), you can search for a suitable accompaniment on YouTube.
