Expressions of the Soul: Creativity and Connection

Expressions of the Soul: Creativity and Connection

Sun, Sep 20, 1:00 AM
From SoulTime Nillumbik

🌿 Take a gentle pause this month as we connect, reflect and explore: **"Expressions of the Soul: Creativity and Connection"**. **SoulTime** offers a welcoming space for reflection, meaningful conversation and connection in a peaceful setting overlooking nature. Sessions include reading a selection of short quotations from diverse cultures, faiths, philosophies and perspectives, followed by open group discussion around uplifting themes relevant to everyday life. This month, we'll explore the ways creativity and the arts can touch something deeper within us. Do we all have a creative spirit, even if we don't think of ourselves as "creative"? How can music, art, words, movement and other forms of expression help us connect with ourselves, with one another, and with something beyond ourselves? Together, we'll reflect on the ways creativity can open our hearts, help us communicate what words cannot, bring us joy and beauty, and create meaningful connections with others. 🌱 To help make SoulTime accessible for families, we are continuing our **SoulTime Kids** program! This is a parallel session for primary-aged children that runs adjacent to the grown-up discussion, exploring the theme **(this month: creativity)** through their own age-appropriate, creative, reflective and fun activities. The kids' session is facilitated by a qualified primary school teacher or youth worker (with current Working with Children Checks). SoulTime is open to everyone regardless of background, beliefs or life stage. Light refreshments will be served following the group discussion. We hope you can join us! ☕✨

Emotions

Sun, Sep 13, 4:00 AM
From Socrates Cafe Melbourne
4.7

Please join us this Sunday to discuss the philosophy of emotion, hosted by Nick. We will meet at the Captain Melville at 2pm for a 2:15pm start sharp Please note the new $5 mandatory donation entry fee (cash or transfer on day) to help with MeetUp subscription costs There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background, all that is required is a curious mind. These discussions are both a Socrates Cafe style discussion and lively metaphysical dojo in the spirit of learning and friendly debate. We welcome your self-reflections, in addition feel free to question assumptions and be prepared to have your own assumptions questioned This event is also posted to the Philosophy Circle group Possible questions: What role do emotions play in (y)our life? How do you deal with your emotions and the emotions of others? How important are emotions in your life? Do you trust your emotions? Do you trust the emotions of others? Do you think emotions help you make decisions or do they get in the way? Are emotions an essential part of being human? and open to any other questions or curiosities about this topic people might have on the day! Hope to see you there

September Book Club

Sat, Sep 12, 2:00 AM
From Beyond the Page - Women's 30+ Melbourne Bookclub

Welcome to our September gathering of Melbourne Women's Big Ideas Book Club! If you love discovering great books and discussing the ideas they spark, we'd love to have you join us. This is a relaxed monthly lunch where every member brings along a book they've recently enjoyed. There are no set reads and no genre restrictions—just thoughtful books and interesting women. Each member has the opportunity to share what they've been reading, what resonated, what challenged them, or what fell short. From there, the conversation naturally evolves as we explore new perspectives, exchange recommendations, and connect through a shared love of reading. Whether you're a regular attendee or joining us for the first time, you'll find a welcoming group of curious, intelligent women who enjoy meaningful conversation and genuine connection. I can't wait to hear what you've been reading this month.

Never been to one of our meet-ups before? Been a member for a while or just joined? Either way this is the social for you! Once a month we hold a special meet-up to welcome in new members. Regulars are encouraged to attend and help new members have a fun night out! Our monthly “newbie” social is an opportunity to learn about our groups, events held and resources to help members. More importantly it is an opportunity to meet others going through separation & divorce in a safe and friendly environment. We can all learn from each other, but the primary aim of the socials is to enjoy ourselves! Our socials are hosted by members of the Divorce Support & Social Group and the Melbourne Divorce Support Group. We pay for own food and drinks individually. On Wednesday nights the Royal Melbourne has $20 pizza and pasta specials. Great food and great company. We hope to see you!
