https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/5/9/3/600_463337811.jpeg Glacier Lake is nestled at the base of the spectacular Black Buttes in the Grouse Ridge recreation area of Northern California. Glacier Lake has everything you could want from a small alpine lake--forested shores, rocky points, deep clear water and enjoyable fishing. The 6 mile hike is moderately difficult. https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/5/b/6/600_463337846.jpeg (http://davessierrafishing.com/mapshtml2/glacier_lake_map2.html) http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/9/b/b/f/600_451299871.jpeg Glacier Lake Distance: 6 miles one way Elevation changes: +900 feet (6,700' - 7.600') Trailhead: Carr Lake Follow the trail past Feeley Lake and Island Lake, continuing east. At about mile 2.5 you will reach a trail junction (not shown on all maps). The Sand Ridge Trail will take you to Glacier Lake, but stick to the Glacier Lake Trail and save the other route for the trip out if you like. A stiff climb finishes the hike to the Glacier Lake. Campsites are along the northwest side of the lake. Fish for golden trout. Experienced cross country hikers might want to explore Five Lakes Basin to the north. https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/5/e/9/600_463337897.jpeg https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/5/d/1/600_463337873.jpeg
