The rhythm of a run. The fresh air. The shared effort. The way conversation just... flows. That's exactly why we created this. Kismetrix has teamed up with **Pun & Gainz** โ€” Melbourne-based personal trainers who believe fitness is as much about community as it is about movement โ€” for our first ever **Run Club Social** at the beautiful Albert Park Lake. This isn't a race. It isn't a gym class. It's a relaxed, social Sunday morning run for singles who want to meet real people, in real life, doing something they actually enjoy. #### **๐Ÿƒ WHAT TO EXPECT** * A PT-led warm up to get you moving and feeling good before we set off * A relaxed run around Albert Park Lake (approx. 3โ€“4 km) at your own pace * Natural pace groups form as you go โ€” runners with runners, walkers with walkers, and everything in between * A supported walk/run option for those who prefer a gentler pace โ€” you're in good company and you'll still see the whole lake * Everyone meets at the Boatshed Cafe at the end โ€” this is where the morning really comes alive * Hot drink included, conversation flows naturally, no awkward formats needed * Coming solo is completely normal โ€” most people do #### **๐Ÿ’› WHO THIS IS FOR** This event is for singles who: * Enjoy being active and want to meet people in a natural setting * Are curious about running or already love it โ€” all paces genuinely welcome * Prefer real-life connection over dating apps and loud venues * Want to be part of a growing community, not just attend a one-off event * Are open to friendship, connection, or something more โ€” without it being the whole point All adult singles welcome, across a wide range of ages. Guided Game Night for Beginners Saturday D&D - North Melbourne

Guided Game Night for Beginners Saturday D&D - North Melbourne

Sat, Jun 6, 7:30 AM
From Ludos Melbourne Games
4.9

**Beginner Dungeons & Dragons Night (No Experience Needed)** Play a fantasy story with a small group. Make choices. Solve problems. Work together. Itโ€™s fun, social, and easy because its hosted by a storyteller. **What is this Event** This is a beginner-friendly D&D game. You donโ€™t need to know anything. Most people are new. We teach as we play. **Small groups (limited spots**) Tables of 5โ€“6 players, we wont take anymore than this to maintain a high quality of participants. 12โ€“18 total spots in total. If you see a spot you can make, take it. They fill. **What happens when you arrive** You donโ€™t need to bring anything Youโ€™ll be seated shortly after you arrive Most people come alone You will not be the only one. **What youโ€™ll do** Play a character in a fantasy story Make choices with your group Talk, explore, and solve problems Roll dice to determine your success and see what happens (usually shenanigans) Expect to share funny and memorable moments with the people in our network. **What you donโ€™t need to worry about** You don't need to know rules new people won't slow the group down Don't need to bring anything We guide you the whole way (< why this works) **Who this is for** You work a 9โ€“5 and want to meet new people after work or on weekends. You enjoy fantasy stories, books or games You want to try dungeons and dragons You want a curated story games night that will be the highlight of your week. **Frequently Asked Questions... ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ** **Won't everyone else already know each other?** The only people who know each other are the Dungeon Masters leading each table. We don't allow groups to attend these nights, so at most there is a duo coming who already know each other. Everyone and you are super new to this. **Will I be the only girl at the event?** No, our events are generally 3:1 ratio, most tables I have seen are 2 girls and 4 guys. no promises on any individual night, but you'll find it doesn't impact your enjoyment. **I'm worried I might slow everyone else down?** Not true, pre-filled character sheets take much of the guess work out of learning the game, and the GMs have all taught tens to hundreds of people this game. *The only thing you'll want to remember is the "D20", a twenty sided dice is always used to resolve actions, whether it's picking a pocket, striking a wicked goblin or recalling history on a forgotten ruin.* *Ok, your basically ready now. seriously.* Don't believe me? Come and find out for yourself. **I'm worried I might be too old/too young for this?** so here's what you'll want to know. we usually see attendees anywhere from 19-49 years of age. normally it's 25-35ish as we often curate out events for young professionals and established professionals working locally. But I'll say this: if you get along with a mature audience of respectful people who can collaborate together - you're in for a good time. **Session** 3-hour(ish) game Run by experienced Dungeon Master 2โ€“3 tables each nigh our game roster may include *Dawn's Call* โ€“ Heroic Thriller Adventure about Hope *Isle of the Grav*e โ€“ Mystery, and survival and fe *The Cost of Ascensio*n โ€“ Power, trust, and betraya **Before the event** You may get a message from the organiser Please reply to keep your spot **Attendance policy** Cancel early if you canโ€™t make i No-shows or late cancels may lose future spot **Donation** We take small donations to support the event and our hosts **Dinner** Some of us like to hang out after the game for a bit, usually for eats and chats

Tricky Tuesday @ The Peacock Inn

Tricky Tuesday @ The Peacock Inn

Tue, Jun 9, 9:00 AM
From Melbourne Board Games & Social Nights (Solos Welcome!)
4.8

**PLEASE NOTE: This will be again more of a community ran event. There is no official host for but two community members - Dan and Trev have volunteered to help facilitate so we can continue Tricky Tuesday in my absence. Extremely grateful to them, please extend your thanks too. Please support each other and make contributions where possible to make everyone feel welcomed and get games tabled!** Welcome to the **Tricky Tuesday** Meet Up! This is a smaller event in most respects - smaller capacity, smaller games - but still the same sized fun! Come join us to learn a new game and meet some new people. * This event was created primarily to play and explore **modern** **trick taking games** and **smaller card games** which can be played on more limited table space. * As this is a smaller event, please note it is a bit more casual. Find the group at the table/s, come over and join - we're a welcoming bunch. * Please **bring some games** to this event if you can and be prepared to teach them if you do. **There are** **no games available at the venue** but I will always bring a few. Please consider others when coming and in the lead up to the event. We want as many people there as possible. If you are unable to attend mark yourself as such as soon as you can so others can be notified and attend. There's an FAQ below but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Your tricky friend, Dave **FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS** **What is a trick taking game? Good question you handsome person.** * Generally speaking, a trick taking game is a card game which is played in a series of rounds known as ***tricks***. * Each trick is evaluated to determine a winner or ***taker*** of that trick and then will usually start - or ***lead*** *-* the next trick. * The goal is usually tied to either winning or losing a number of tricks. This may also come in the form of you guessing how many tricks you will win - known as a ***bid***. * Some games may have a suit that always wins - known as a ***trump***. * Most trick taking games are **competitive** needing between 3-5 players, others are **cooperative**, there are also solo and two-player trick taking games as well! * Popular trick taking/trick taking adjacent games you may have heard of: [The Crew](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/324856/the-crew-mission-deep-sea), [Skull King](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/150145/skull-king), [Cat in the Box](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/345972/cat-in-the-box-deluxe-edition), [Scout](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/291453/scout), [Fox in the Forest](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/221965/the-fox-in-the-forest), the classic games of [Spades](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/592/spades) and [Hearts](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/6887/hearts), **What makes a Trick Taking game fun?** * There's so much to trick taking games! They're generally quick to teach, quick to play, have interesting decision spaces, and a wide variety of novelty. Even the classics though can be played thousands of times without getting tiresome. Part of the fun is in the interaction with others, assessing their moves and countering them, and how to win (or lose) at the right times. You have to stay on your toes, adapt frequently, and keep tabs on the other players, what they have played, and what they may play next! **Do I need to know how to play/have played a trick taking game before?** * Not at all, but it is good to understand the basics and general terminology so you can pick things up a bit easier on the night. You can check out [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7O7QyhKmCsk) for a bit of a general breakdown . **Is this event free?** * Yes, but please support the venue by purchasing a drink or two. **I'm on the waitlist can I still come?** * Unfortunately, no. We have limited capacity and must abide by it. **I don't have a game to bring, is that okay?** * Generally it will be okay, but it is encouraged to bring and share a game where you can! You can always bring a standard deck of cards or tarot cards and learn a card game or two as well! **Can I bring a guest?** * Unfortunately, unless they have signed up too it won't be possible. We have a strict limit on guests and the event would fill up too quickly otherwise. **How do I get to the venue?** * The 86 Tram is your best bet and has a stop pretty much right outside of the venue. * There are two train stations (Westgarth and Northcote) which are within walking distance. * Parking is available in the area but can get busy. If you don't mind a little walk there is parking down the adjacent street. **Dave, I worry you will win all the games we play. Such an intelligent and beautiful man, you must be a master of the tricks, is this true?** * Firstly - thank-you for the kind words, but secondly - no. I suck at trick taking games and lose more than I win. Yet, I enjoy them for their variety, high interaction, and quick nature regardless. You will be fine if you don't take things too seriously. It's about fun and meeting people... (but if you do beat me too often I will ban you from the group and venue...).
