🎨 Coastal Light at Mori Point – Plein Air Paint-Out

Tue, Jun 9, 4:30 PM
From Bay Area Plein Air Painters

Join us for a plein air paint-out at Mori Point on Tuesday the 9th. Mori Point offers dramatic coastal scenery with sweeping ocean views, coastal bluffs, winding trails, and beautiful Pacific light. From foggy atmospheric mornings to sunlit afternoons, there is no shortage of inspiring subjects to paint. We’ll gather at 12:30 PM on Beach Boulevard, near the beginning of the Mori Point trail, for a show-and-tell and to share our morning’s work. It’s a great opportunity to connect with fellow artists, exchange ideas, and celebrate the day’s paintings. What to Bring: • Painting supplies • Water and snacks • Hat and sunscreen • Layers for changing coastal weather Whether you’re an experienced plein air painter or just getting started, all are welcome. We look forward to a wonderful day of painting and camaraderie in one of the Bay Area’s most beautiful coastal locations. 🎨🌊 https://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/moripoint.htm

Interfaith Spiritual Discussion on "Physical and Spiritual Healing"

Interfaith Spiritual Discussion on "Physical and Spiritual Healing"

Sat, Jun 6, 2:00 AM
From Interfaith Spiritual Discussion

Welcome to the monthly Fridays for the Soul devotional and discussion gathering to be held on Friday, June 5th at the San Francisco Baha'i Center, located at [355 Bryant Street #110](https://www.google.com/maps/search/355+Bryant+Street+%23110?entry=gmail&source=g). Doors open at 7pm for refreshments, and the devotional and discussions begin at 7:30pm. The theme for the evening will be *“Physical and Spiritual Healing"* . There are two ways of healing diseases, the material and the spiritual way. The first is the remedies of the physicians; the second prayers and turning one’s self to God. Both must be practiced and followed. The diseases that happen to be caused by physical accident are cured by medical aid; others, which are due to spiritual causes, will disappear by spiritual means. For instance: For a disease due to grieving, fear, nervous impressions, the spiritual remedies will take more effect than the physical. Therefore, these two kinds of remedies must be followed; neither is an obstacle to the other. You must take care of the physical remedies. These also came from the bounty and mercy of God who revealed and made evident the science of medicine, so that His servants may also be benefited by this mode of healing. In the same way take care of the spiritual healing, because it giveth wonderful results. Invite family, friends and neighbors! This is a relaxed and open atmosphere, where all points of view are welcome, where new and regular participants can enjoy the discussions and fellowship and uplifting music!! Invite friends, family and neighbors! There is a relaxed and open atmosphere, where both old and new participants enjoy the discussions and fellowship and uplifting music!!

SF Python June at Sentry

Want to learn more about Python and meet other Pythonistas? Please register: [here](https://ti.to/sfpython/jun-sf-python-sentry?source=meetup) (https://ti.to/sfpython/jun-sf-python-sentry?source=meetup) Please support our sponsors [Sentry](https://sentry.io/welcome/)! 👉 Submit your 5, 15 or 25 mins talk proposals here: [https://bit.ly/bapyacfp](https://bit.ly/bapyacfp) **SCHEDULED TALKS** 🔎 **Seeking validation: An introduction to Pydantic - Liz Acosta** Since its release in 2017, Pydantic has quickly become one of the most used data validation libraries for Python. Thanks to the power of Rust, Pydantic offers developers a quick, flexible, and reliable solution to wrangling Python’s dynamic typing when getting it right the first time really matters. This talk will provide attendees with an introduction to Pydantic, how it’s different, its benefits and challenges, and practical use cases. Attendees will get to see Pydantic data modeling in action as we demo parts of the Vonage Python SDK before and after adoption. As a dependency of the wildly popular FastAPI framework, understanding Pydantic is not only strategically important for developers, but expands on the inherent power of the Python language. Liz Acosta is a Developer Advocate at Vonage. While her career path from film student to marketer to engineer to Developer Advocate might seem unconventional, it’s pretty typical for Developer Relations! Liz loves pizza, plants, pugs, and Python. She is especially fond of the magic that happens at the intersection of tech and community. When Liz is not working or anxiously contemplating the meaning of life, she can be found writing corny poetry about dogs, dancing at underground art parties, advocating for more liberation-based mental health resources, and – weather permitting – praying she doesn’t fall dismounting the chairlift on her snowboard. 🔎 **Simplified Python hosting and scale to zero on Phemeral - Chinmaya Joshi** Setting up hosting, implementing continuous deployment, and ensuring that provisioned compute correctly scales up and down can be tedious. This session will demonstrate how to host Python web services, set up continuous deployment, and set up scale to zero with Phemeral. Phemeral is a cloud platform specifically for Python web services. Chinmaya is the founder of Phemeral.dev. He was previously an engineer at BoodleBox where he built Python web services. **AGENDA** 6:30p Reconnect with friends! 7:00p Opening remarks, sponsors acknowledgement 7:10p Scheduled talks and Q&A + networking break 8:30p Wrap up last talk, more networking THIS EVENT IS PRODUCED BY SF Python, a volunteers-run organization aiming to foster the Python Community in the Bay Area
