London Local Filmmakers Collective (LLFC) — Kickoff Cocktails and More!

London Local Filmmakers Collective (LLFC) — Kickoff Cocktails and More!

Sat, Jun 13, 6:30 PM
From London Local Filmmakers Collective

We’re kicking off the very first **London Local Film Collective** **(LLFC)** meetup at **The Cocktail Club Monument** on **June 13**. We’ll meet at **7:30 PM**, with more details and exact meetup instructions to come closer to the day. It is a perfect spot to gather, talk shop, and get to know each other before we start making all kinds of brilliant low-budget chaos together. You can check out the venue before the meetup:[ ](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)**[Here.](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)**[ ](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)The bar is at **Monument, 2B Eastcheap, London EC3M 1AE**. Located in King William House. **A quick RSVP note: We will be making reservations the night before. Because this venue is reservation-based, please do not RSVP yes unless you’re fairly certain you can attend. If something comes up, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and let us know. More than two no-shows will result in removal from the group. No villain arc, just logistics.** This first meetup is all about connection. Come by, have a drink, meet other filmmakers, and tell us what you’re working on — whether that’s a short film, a documentary, a script, a micro-budget feature, a half-finished idea living in your Notes app, or a project you’d love to jump onto with other people. Directors, actors, writers, cinematographers, editors, photographers, animators, and curious *“I know I want in, I just don’t know where yet”* people are all welcome. We’ll meet at **7:30 PM**, and I’ll send more details and meetup instructions closer to the day. Let’s make some cool stuff together!

From All Out of Bubblegum Film Club

Nightcrawler is a 2014 American neo-noir satirical thriller film written and directed by Dan Gilroy in his directorial debut. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as an unhinged stringer who seeks out violent and morbid events late at night in Los Angeles so he can film them and sell the exclusive footage to a local television news station. The supporting cast includes Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, and Bill Paxton. It was met with widespread praise, especially Gilroy's screenplay and the performances of Gyllenhaal and Russo. Several critics listed Nightcrawler as one of the best films of 2014 and it received various accolades, including a Best Original Screenplay nomination at the 87th Academy Awards. Please note we will not be showing the film at the meeting. Make sure you watch the film before you attend and then come and join in with the conversation. It’s just a discussion. It’s not a screening. We will be meeting in The Ludski Bar in the Rio Cinema. UK Premiere of 4K Restoration: Till We Meet Again

UK Premiere of 4K Restoration: Till We Meet Again

Thu, Jun 4, 5:30 PM
From London Classic Film Fans
4.9

A novice leaves her cloistered life to help a pilot on the run, becoming unexpectedly close, in what is perhaps the most underestimated film of the Borzage filmography. * Director Frank Borzage * With Ray Milland, Barbara Britton, Walter Slezak, Lucille Watson * USA 1944. 88min * Digital 4K (restoration) * Certificate PG When a US plane is shot down in occupied France, its pilot finds shelter in a convent. He encounters a young novice who agrees to help him escape the country, to save him and his secret cache of documents from the Nazis. The night casts a veil of intimacy over the couple, who develop a bond beyond physical love. Full of suspense and expressionistic chiaroscuro, this transcendental drama remains striking for its mix of thrill, torment and wonder. Restored in 4K by Universal Pictures and The Film Foundation at NBCUniversal StudioPost laboratory, from the original 35mm negative nitrate, a 35mm composite fine grain and the 35mm optical sound track negative nitrate. Special thanks to Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. We will meet near the box office at 18:15, and go for a drink and/or snack after the film at the venue. I will book my seat about a week in advance and will add a comment to let attendees know. Dave

The Alt/Cult Karaoke Night

The Alt/Cult Karaoke Night

Fri, Jun 19, 6:00 PM
From London Alt Gigs and Cult Cinema
4.8

Everyone who's been nagging me to put this on, well you got it! A night of open-room karaoke in the middle of London. Why open room? Bigger song selection, no one feels under pressure to sing and no one has to pay. We're doing this at [The Britannia](https://www.britanniamonument.com) in Monument, just up the road from London Bridge. It serves food and has karaoke 'til late on Fridays (and Thursdays and Saturdays, apparently), and I'll book a table once I get an idea of numbers. Sing whatever you want or just hang out, but remember: it's not about being 'good', it's about being entertaining and having fun!
