dAseIn Film Festival
Wed, Jun 10, 1:00 AM**Dasein AI Film Festival — The Continuum** Cinema at the Edge of Presence Tuesday\, June 9 \| 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM 📍 Upcider\, 1160 Polk St\, Floor 2\, San Francisco 🎟 $13 \| 50 spots — bring your friends *** The first Dasein AI Film Festival happened. 22 films screened. 7 awards presented. A full room, two parts, and conversations that kept going long after the lights came up. Now we continue. The Continuum is the next gathering in the Dasein series — built from submissions that didn't align with the first edition's specific theme. Not because they lacked strength, but because they existed beyond its frame. This is where they are seen. The theme this time opens wider. Not human. Not machine. But being itself — the condition of existing in relation to a world that is shifting faster than language can follow. Inspired by Heidegger's concept of Dasein — the awareness of presence, of being here, now, in this — the evening moves beyond categories and into the question underneath all of them. **Program Format** — 10 to 15 curated short films — Total runtime under 100 minutes — One award: Audience Award, voted live on the night — Post-screening conversation and connection **A Living Structure** Dasein now runs year-round. Every two months, a new theme. Every screening, a different entry point into the same question. This builds toward the second Dasein Film Festival in 2027 — a full-day event, expanded in every dimension. If you make films, submit. If you think about AI, consciousness, or cinema, come. If you just want to be in a room where the conversation is worth having — this is that room. Followed by connection and the continuation of the Dasein Creative Circle — a year-round space for filmmakers, artists, technologists, writers, and thinkers to meet and co-evolve. Sponsored by the Empathetic AI Institute. 🔗 [www.daseinfilmfestival.com](http://www.daseinfilmfestival.com) 🎬 Submit: filmfreeway.com/DaseinFilmFestival 📸 @daseinfilmfestival Limited capacity. Berkeley Community Media Planning Meet-Up
Thu, Jun 18, 1:00 AMOverview - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYlUD5JgHMm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Join us for an opportunity to be on the Film Festival Production Team as well as share your work in creative works in progress with peers. **Join the BCM Film Festival Team!** Be part of a passionate group dedicated to creating meaningful, community-driven filmmaking events. We meet once a month to plan, collaborate, and make the magic happen. **Contact Melanie@betv.org and come to the 3rd Wednesday of every month at BCM headquarters to get involved.** This is a chance for you to become involved in a deeper way with the wonderful film festivals produced by BCM. Traditionally, we have had 2 film festivals each year: the 48 Hour Filmmaker Challenge in July and the Horror Film Fest-Evil in October. However, there have been others such as "The BCM Screening Room," "St. Valentine’s Day Film Festival," "March Mania" and a "Sci Fi Film Festival." What are festival themes YOU would like to see BCM produce? In other words, we COULD be having more events if only we had more support…and…YOU could be getting the inside scoop on how it all works from start to finish. This means a more in-depth understanding of film fest production. BCM celebrates Berkeley’s creative spirit and longstanding tradition of independent arts and storytelling. Our festivals highlight independent filmmakers while providing a public platform for diverse voices and experimental work. By bringing together filmmakers, residents, students, and visitors for screenings, discussions, our festivals reflect Berkeley’s identity as a city that values creativity, free expression, and community engagement. The events we produce strengthen local cultural life while making independent film accessible to the broader community. Whether you’re in the industry as a filmmaker already, just starting out or purely want to support the festival production at BCM, please contact Melanie@betv.org and show up to the Community Club 2.0 every month 3rd Wednesday 6-8pm

Film: Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
Sat, Jun 20, 1:00 AM**This month’s pick is Bridget Jones's Diary**. This is the movie that had me fully convinced Renée Zellweger was actually British for far too long. It also gave me the unrealistic but delightful expectation that I’d meet my own Mr. Darcy and that my 20s would be effortlessly glamorous… we can all dream, right? **\*This event will take place at my apartment in Hayes/Alamo Square. We'll be watching the film via my projector.** **Snacks and drinks will be provided (or bring a favorite to share!).**
