Who’s Coming:
• Julie Dunham (Summit Life Adventures): May arrive Wednesday after work or Thursday, 4–5 p.m., to secure a site; stays Friday and Saturday nights.
• John Sutton: Arrives Thursday after dropping Frances at the airport, bringing Daisy (leashed dog) and two 10x10 pop-up canopies for shade/rain protection.
• Andrea Archer & Rick Morley: Arrive Wednesday, August 6, ~10:30 a.m., after Rick’s appointment; leave Saturday, August 9. They’ll kayak Thursday morning to avoid wind/rain. Rick welcomes tent campers on their site (they share a camper) but prefers a separate group site for quiet. Will reserve a group site with a tent Thursday morning ($10 extra fee) if you confirm headcount by Wednesday evening.
• Regina Pacis: Day visit only (Thursday–Sunday); prefers not to drive, will chip in for gas and fees.
Activities:
• Kayaking (weather permitting; bring gear and a life jacket for safety—recent fatality at Eleven Mile due to a storm without one).
• Fishing (bring license and gear).
• Campfire (bring firewood).
Important Notes:
• Arrive early: For best first-come, first-served sites, arrive Thursday before 10:00 a.m.; meadow sites (farthest from the road) go fast.
• Quiet hours: 10 p.m.–6 a.m. (strictly enforced; eviction possible).
• Dogs: Must be leashed. If your dog barks around others, leave it home.
• Sites: First-come, first-served; no saving for others. $10 extra for early reservations.
• Supplies: Bring your own gear and food.
• Cell service: Limited; text John Sutton at 719-351-7913 before August 6 with questions.
Tips: Meadow campsites are ideal for quieter, scenic spots. Enjoy a classic National Forest campground experience.
